Description
The Span America Floor Lift Battery Charger Cradle is the off-board charger for a Span America floor lift battery, manufacturer code P11617. It charges a pack that has been taken off the lift, with a green LED showing power connected. Span America lists it as an option on the F500S, the F400 and the F350CT, alongside the plug-in charger that comes with the lift. Westin Healthcare stocks lift parts in Brampton and ships them across the Greater Toronto Area.
On its own it does not solve much. Bought with a second battery pack, it is the difference between a lift that stops when the battery does and a lift that runs all day.
What it is actually for
Span America gives these lifts two charging routes, and they answer different problems.
- The plug-in DC charger, included with the lift. Plugs into the control unit and charges the pack where it sits. The lift is on charge, which means the lift is not in use. That is fine overnight and fine for a single lift in one room.
- The charging cradle, optional, this listing. Charges a pack off the lift. The pack is on charge and the lift is still working, on a second pack. The LED indicator on the cradle shows green when power is connected and stays blank when it is not, which is worth knowing because a cradle plugged into a switched outlet that is off looks exactly like a cradle that is working.
The second arrangement is what a busy floor needs. Span America's own optional-features list on the F500S and the F350CT names the two options together, in this order: charging cradle, second battery pack. That pairing is not a coincidence, and it is how we would quote it.
Who benefits, and who does not
Worth it: a care home or a hospital unit running one lift across a full shift, a home where the lift is used many times a day, or anywhere the lift lives in one room and the charging point is somewhere else. Also worth it where the lift is used at night, because a pack on a cradle in the corridor does not need the lift plugged in beside a bed.
Not worth it yet: a single lift used a few times a day that spends its nights plugged in. That lift is already charged every morning, and the cradle would sit unused. If you are not sure which you are, count how often the low-battery indicator sounds before the end of a day. If the answer is never, keep your money.
Using it
The pack comes off the lift with the release handle. Span America's instruction is to secure the battery with both hands when removing it, because it can cause injury if dropped. Then it goes into the cradle, and the cradle's green LED confirms power is connected.
The same maintenance rules apply to a cradle as to the charger: check the battery pack and the charger periodically, keep cords out of walkways, and clean with pH-neutral detergent on a damp cloth, never solvents or abrasives. If the lift is going into storage, Span America asks for the battery pack to be removed to prevent leakage, which is another job a cradle makes tidy.

Span America publishes no input voltage, output current, charge time, dimensions or mass for the cradle. The owner's manuals show it in the charging diagram and list it among the optional features without a specification block, and the sell sheets name it in one sentence. The pack it charges is the 24 V DC 5 Ah unit, code P11618, and that is the only electrical figure printed here.
Because it is an optional item rather than a standard component, the cradle is also the part in this family most worth confirming before ordering. Call us and we will check the current code, the fitment and whether it ships with a cord for your market.
Which lifts this suits
Span America lists the charging cradle as an optional feature across the range. It charges the pack, not the lift, so what actually matters is that your lift takes the 24 V DC 5 Ah pack, code P11618.

How to be certain. Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number off your lift, or send a photograph of the product label, and we will confirm the cradle with Savaria before anything ships. It does not suit a Beka Nora, a Beka Carlo, a Handicare Eva, a Carina, an FGA-700 or a MiniLift, which use Linak battery boxes and their own external chargers.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Small parts ship on our standard service. Westin's own team delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and you are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke, if you would rather match the part to your lift in person.
Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number off your lift and we will confirm the fit before the order goes out. Shipping terms are on the shipping policy page, and any charge is confirmed on your order.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department, and our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Span America warranty and inspection
Span-America publishes a limited warranty on all patient lifts, slings and accessories to be free of defects in workmanship and product performance, extending to the original purchaser and non-transferable. Unusually for this catalogue, it prints the terms by component:
| Warranty period | Product or component |
|---|---|
| Three years | Patient lift frame or spreader bar |
| Two years | Actuator, control box, pendant, charger, weigh scale, stand aids, or castors excluding normal tread wear |
| One year | Battery or hydraulic pump |
| Six months | Reusable fabric slings |
Span America names the charger on the two-year row and does not name a charging cradle, so we read the cradle onto that row and confirm it against your order rather than assume it. All warranty claims go through the authorized dealer who sold the product, with proof of sale and the serial number where applicable, and a return authorization from Span-America is required before anything is sent back. Span-America excludes abuse, misuse, accidental or malicious damage, improper installation, use with parts or accessories whose quality or specifications are incompatible with the product, neglect, failure to maintain and service the product as specified in the owner's manual, a removed or defaced serial number, and normal wear and tear. Ask us for the terms current at the date of your order and we will handle a claim with you.
Span-America asks the operator to inspect the lift before each use, and asks for a thorough monthly inspection by somebody qualified to recognise wear, looseness of bolts and worn parts, with worn parts replaced immediately. It gives the lift an expected lifetime of 10 years or 20,000 cycles and the electrical components an expected lifetime of 3 years. Clean with pH-neutral detergents only, and remove the battery from the controller first. We can quote the annual service with the part.
Frequently asked questions
What does the cradle do that the charger does not?
It charges a pack that is off the lift, so the lift can keep working on a second pack. The plug-in charger that comes with the lift charges the pack in place, which means the lift is out of use while it charges.
Do I need one?
Only if you are running out of charge during a working day, or if the lift lives somewhere the charging point is not. A single lift that spends its nights plugged in is already charged every morning and does not need a cradle.
Does it come with a battery?
No. The cradle and the pack are separate items. Buying a cradle without a spare pack does very little, so we would normally quote the two together.
Will it suit my lift?
Span America lists the charging cradle as an option across the F500S, F400 and F350CT, and it charges the pack rather than the lift, so what matters is that your lift takes the 24 V DC 5 Ah pack, code P11618. Call (905) 451-7743 with your model and serial number and we will confirm with Savaria before anything ships.
How do I know it is working?
The cradle's LED indicator shows green when power is connected and stays blank when it is not. That is a power indication rather than a charge indication, so check it before you walk away, especially if the cradle is on a switched outlet. On the plug-in charger the LED means something different: amber is charging and green is charging completed.
How do I get the pack out of the lift?
Pull the release handle and lift the pack straight out. Span America asks you to secure the battery with both hands as you do it, because it can cause injury if dropped.
How long does a pack take to charge in the cradle?
Span America does not publish a charge time for either route. If it matters for your shift pattern, ask us and we will get it from Savaria before you order.
What is the warranty?
Span America's warranty table gives two years on a charger, alongside the actuator, control box, pendant, weigh scale, stand aids and castors. We would read a charging cradle onto that row, and we will confirm it against your order rather than assume it.
Is it worth having if the lift goes into storage between uses?
Yes, and for a slightly different reason. Span America asks for the battery pack to be removed if a lift will not be used for some time, to prevent leakage, and for the pack and charger to be checked periodically. A cradle gives that pack somewhere sensible to live.
