Description
The Beka Nora (NORA Alu) is an aluminum sit-to-stand lift. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes and care settings in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The sling is sold separately. BEKA lists a maximum patient weight of 200 kg (440 lb).
This is a sit-to-stand lift, not a passive sling hoist. BEKA writes that NORA Alu is designed specifically for residents who still have the ability to stand for a short time with the help of supporting aids. Savaria says it assists residents who can stand for short periods but need a safe transfer to and from bathing or toileting. If the person cannot stand even briefly, see a full-body floor lift such as the Beka Carlo.
Who it is for
The Nora is for a person who can still stand for a short time with support. BEKA also writes that handling is possible by a single nurse. That is BEKA's sentence for this model. The transfer should still be assessed. BEKA marks Nora compatible with mobility groups 2 and 3.
Savaria describes extra sling attachment points so shorter residents (up to 1.60 m / 5 ft 2 in) can stand without painful pressure in the back and armpit area. If you want the Pro cushion, RUBIN colour, and 205 kg rating, see the Beka Nora Pro.
- Bathing or toileting transfers when the person can stand for a short time with support
- Shorter residents who need the lower sling attachment points
- Users within BEKA's 200 kg (440 lb) rating
How it lifts
A powered boom raises the person toward standing. Soft double knee pads adjust for height. The chassis spreads electrically so the caregiver can open or close the base around a chair or toilet. BEKA lists a wide lifting range and emergency lowering. Savaria lists splash-resistant electrics, a removable 24 V battery that shares the Beka floor-lift charger family, and four double casters (two with brakes).
Savaria says the seat area can also be used for showering, so some hygiene tasks do not need a second transfer. Standard attachment is clip. A loop pin kit (921070602) swaps the lift to loop slings.
Beka Nora specifications
These figures are from BEKA Hospitec's current NORA Alu page and Savaria's matching table. The specification tab holds the stored values. Maximum patient weight is 200 kg (440 lb). Length is 1027 mm (40.4 in). External width closed is 700 mm (27.6 in). Internal width spread is 897 mm (35.3 in). Carrier frame height is 126 mm (5.0 in). Total height is 1168 mm (46.0 in). Lifting height is 898-1726 mm (35.0-68.0 in). Product weight is 50.7 kg on BEKA (51 kg / 112 lb on Savaria). Front casters 100 mm, rear 125 mm (Savaria).
Slings and spreader bar
The Nora is a sit-to-stand lift with two attachment-point heights. Savaria lists official stand-up / raising slings 921070053US / 103US / 203US / 303US (S to XL) and an extra-soft double knee pad. Clip is standard. Loop needs the pin kit. Cross-brand slings are not claimed.
The sling is sold separately. See our sit-to-stand slings. For a full-body sling on a Carlo or another boom lift, start at full-body slings.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Ask us whether a sit-to-stand lift is available on the rental fleet for your dates. If you later decide to buy, ask us about applying rental credit toward a purchase. The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Who does BEKA say the Nora is for?
BEKA says it is for residents who still have the ability to stand for a short time with the help of supporting aids. Savaria says the same for bathing and toileting transfers.

BEKA lists 200 kg (440 lb). That is not the 205 kg / 451 lb rating on the Nora Pro.
Can one nurse handle this lift?
BEKA's Nora Alu page says handling is possible by a single nurse. That sentence belongs to this model. The transfer should still be assessed.
Is the sling included?
No. Savaria lists official stand-up slings in S to XL. Clip is standard. A loop pin kit is optional. See our sit-to-stand slings category.
Does it have emergency lowering?
Yes. BEKA lists emergency lowering on the NORA Alu.
How is this different from Nora Pro?
Nora Pro adds the 3D-Comfort-System, RUBIN colour, lithium-ion battery, and a 205 kg rating. This Nora is the 200 kg aluminum stand aid. See the Beka Nora Pro if you want those extras.
Can I rent a sit-to-stand lift first?
Westin Healthcare rents patient lifts. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. Ask us whether a sit-to-stand unit is on the rental fleet for your dates.
Can it be used for showering?
Savaria says the seat area can also be used for showering, which can reduce extra transfers. Confirm the room layout with us.
How is a purchased lift delivered?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased lifts across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased lift.
