Description
The Maple Leaf NRG Plus Gold is a Category 2 folding aluminum wheelchair, ADP device WM0001134. Westin Healthcare builds it in Brampton for homes across the Greater Toronto Area after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. The chair is configured to that assessment. It is not an off-the-shelf cart item for next-day delivery.
Maple Leaf's current card lists a 250 lb rating and a 32 lb chair with armrests, footrests, and wheels. The January 2026 ADP order form lists seat widths 14 to 20 inches and seat depths 14 to 20 inches, with a hemi seat-to-floor height from 12.5 inches. This is a self-propel chair with large rear wheels and pushrims. A companion can also push from the handles. Maple Leaf builds the chair in Canada.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a long-term lightweight folding manual wheelchair in the ADP Category 2 band, and whose therapist names the NRG Plus Gold after an assessment. Families usually call us when they need a folding aluminum frame, a low seat-to-floor height for foot propulsion, and a 250 lb rating.
If you want another current Canadian Category 2 folder, see the Stellato II or the Motion Composites MOVE. The steel NRG+ is a different Maple Leaf chair. A transport chair with small rear wheels is not this NRG Plus Gold.
- A Category 2 folding manual after an ADP assessment
- Self-propel use on a 32 lb aluminum frame, or companion push
- A 250 lb rating and a seat-to-floor height from 12.5 inches
Design and build
The frame is aluminum and folds. Maple Leaf's axle plate and caster setup reach a hemi seat-to-floor height from 12.5 inches, or a standard-frame height into the 19 inch range. Arms flip back or use a T-style and come off for a side transfer. Hangers are removable swing-away plug-in tubes. Anti-tippers are on the standard 2026 ADP feature list.
Spoke wheels are standard on that form. Mag urethane wheels are a no-charge swap. Brakes are pull-to-lock or push-to-lock. Back canes are height adjustable. Upholstery is nylon or vinyl. Frame colours include black, blue, and burgundy, with a premium set on the 2026 form.
- Folding aluminum frame
- 32 lb with arms, footrests, and wheels
- Seat 14 to 20 inches wide and 14 to 20 inches deep
- Seat-to-floor from 12.5 inches
- 250 lb rating
NRG Plus Gold specifications
These figures are from Maple Leaf's current NRG+ Gold card and the January 2026 ADP order form. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use 32 lb and 14 to 20 inch sizes, not leftover 37 lb lines or a 14 to 22 inch block copied from another chair.
Seat 14 to 20 inches wide by 14 to 20 inches deep. Seat-to-floor from 12.5 inches on the hemi frame. Overall width is seat width plus 8 inches. Capacity 250 lb. Chair weight 32 lb with armrests, footrests, and wheels.
Warranty is 5 years on the frame and 2 years on components and accessories, for the original purchaser as Maple Leaf prints it.
Colour, width, and depth
The NRG Plus Gold is built to the assessment. Westin sets Color, Width, and Depth from the therapist's measurements and the 2026 Maple Leaf ADP form. Official form widths and depths are 14 to 20 inches. Black, blue, and burgundy sit on the no-charge colour set; other colours are on the premium list.
This model is a standard self-propel wheelchair. Transport chairs use small rear wheels and are companion-pushed only.
ADP funding for a Category 2 wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Once the chair is built to the assessment, Westin's own team delivers it across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, unfold it, and show you the brakes, the fold, and the footrests before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a Category 2 chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date after they are built.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Frequently asked questions
What does Category 2 mean on the NRG Plus Gold?
Category 2 is the Ontario ADP lightweight manual band: a folding chair in the 25 to 38 lb range with swing-away footrests and removable arms. Maple Leaf prints 32 lb and ADP code WM0001134. The Ministry files NRG+ Gold as an Adult Lightweight Standard manual.
Is this the same chair as the steel NRG+?
No. NRG+ Gold is the aluminum lightweight chair (WM0001134). The steel NRG+ is a different Maple Leaf model with its own ADP code. Ask us for the Gold, not the steel NRG+.
Who qualifies for ADP on this chair?
You must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card and a disability that needs the device for 6 months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before the chair is ordered. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For an eligible client, the ADP-registered vendor bills ADP 75% of the approved price and the client pays the remaining 25%, plus any extras that are not on the ADP list. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD can be covered at 100% of the approved price.
What is the assessment process?
An ADP-registered OT or PT measures the person, names the category and the device, and completes the clinical part of the application. Westin helps finish the form and submits it. Do not buy the chair first. A device ordered before those steps is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
Ontario aims to review a mobility-aid application within 8 weeks of receiving it. Maple Leaf then builds the chair to the approved form. We will give you a delivery date once the chair is released.
Can I try an NRG Plus Gold before the order is placed?
Come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will show you a Category 2 folding chair so you can feel the fold, the brakes, and the seat width. A floor chair may not match the final colour or size. A therapist may also trial equipment during the assessment.
How should the seat width fit?
Measure the seated hip width and leave a little room on each side. The 2026 ADP form lists 14 to 20 inches wide and 14 to 20 inches deep. Ignore a leftover 14 to 22 inch block if it still appears on an old paragraph. Those numbers come from the assessment.
What is the weight capacity?
Maple Leaf lists 250 lb. Stay at or under that rating. If the person is near 250 lb, tell us before paperwork starts.
What happens if ADP declines the application?
Ontario sends a letter with the reason and the appeal steps. Westin will sit down with you, look at the letter, and talk through an appeal, a different category, or a non-ADP route. We do not order the custom chair until the path is clear.
What is the warranty on the NRG Plus Gold?
Five years on the frame and two years on components and accessories, as Maple Leaf prints it. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
