Description

The Humancare Lena is a freestanding gantry. It is a rail on two posts, not a motor. Human Care rates the frame at 300 kg (661 lb). Westin Healthcare quotes it for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area when a ceiling track is not the right fit. You still need a matching Human Care ceiling-lift motor and slings. Those are separate lines on the quote.

Human Care Canada lists the Lena as a portable alternative when the building cannot be modified. If you need height and length that adjust without tools, see the Humancare FlexiRail. If you want a lighter Handicare portable rail, see the Handicare FST-300. A portable motor such as the Savaria Monarch is a different brand; Human Care names its own motors for this frame.

Who it is for

This frame is for a person who needs an overhead transfer and cannot, or should not, have a track fixed to the ceiling. Rentals, condos, heritage plaster, and short-term rooms are the usual reasons. The 300 kg rating is the frame. The working load of the finished system is the lowest rating among the frame, motor, roller, and sling.

  • Homes that cannot take a ceiling track
  • Rooms that may need the frame moved later
  • Bed, chair, floor, and toilet transfers when a Human Care motor is on the rail

How it lifts

The Lena is the rail, not the hoist. Posts and feet stand on the floor. A Human Care motor hangs from a rail roller and lowers a hanger bar. Human Care's product sheet names the Altair series, HeliQ series, and Roomer S as the motors that work with this frame. Optional wheels (castor kit 50872) let the empty frame move between rooms. Human Care says not to move the frame with a person in the sling.

No ceiling joist work is required for the frame itself. Westin's own team handles delivery and setup through the delivery section below.

Humancare Lena specifications

These figures are from Human Care's Lena product sheet (99039) and the current Human Care Canada card.

Article 71806 is the 2.5 m (98.4 in) rail, 145.4 cm (57.2 in) foot width, 229 cm (90.2 in) height, 42 kg (92.6 lb), 300 kg (661 lb) SWL. Article 71808 is the 3.0 m (118.1 in) rail, same foot width and height, 43.5 kg (96 lb), same 300 kg SWL. The rail is powder-coated extruded aluminium. Poles and feet are steel. Human Care states the product is manufactured to ISO 10535. Optional accessories named on the sheet include rail rollers, a medical-grade scale, a distance strap, and the wheel kit.

Call (905) 451-7743 and we will write the frame, motor, slings, and delivery as one quote.

Slings and spreader bar

The Lena does not include a hanger bar. The bar lives on the Human Care motor you pair with the rail. Human Care's Altair is listed with 2, 3, or 4-point sling suspension. Use Human Care slings that match that bar. The lowest SWL in the set is the one that applies.

Shop Westin's matching sling styles: universal slings, full-body slings, toileting slings, and divided-leg slings. Sit-to-stand slings belong on sit-to-stand floor lifts, not on this overhead rail.

Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this gantry across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and walk you through the setup before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a gantry first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Gantries are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the gantry is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?

Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a ceiling-lift setup before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups across Brampton and the GTA.

For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.

If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the gantry needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Human Care Lena warranty

Human Care's current Lena card and product sheet do not print a simple year-count warranty. Ask us for the warranty that ships with the frame and the motor on your quote. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Lena include the lift motor?

No. The Lena is the freestanding rail. Human Care says the lift and rail roller are ordered separately. A Westin quote lists the frame, motor, slings, and delivery together so nothing is assumed.

What is the safe working load of the Lena?

Human Care lists 300 kg (661 lb) for both rail lengths. The finished system is limited by the lowest rating among the frame, motor, roller, and sling.

Do I need to open the ceiling?

No. Human Care designed the Lena so the building does not need a ceiling or wall change. The posts stand on the floor. We still check the room, the bed width, and the doorway before we quote.

Which motors does Human Care name for the Lena?

The product sheet names the Altair series, HeliQ series, and Roomer S. Those are Human Care motors. Do not assume a Handicare or Savaria motor is approved for this frame unless Human Care says so.

What slings fit a Lena setup?

The slings that match the hanger bar on the Human Care motor. Use universal, full-body, toileting, or divided-leg slings rated for that bar. Do not put a sit-to-stand sling on this overhead rail.

Does funding cover a gantry in Ontario?

Funding routes exist for patient lifts in Ontario, and eligibility depends on the person and the assessment. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.

How is the Lena different from the FlexiRail?

The Lena is two fixed rail lengths at a fixed 229 cm height. The FlexiRail adjusts height from 180 to 270 cm and comes in four rail families. Both are 300 kg Human Care frames. Choose Lena when the room height is known. Choose FlexiRail when the room still needs to be measured.

Can I rent a lift while we wait on a quote?

Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.

How fast can a Lena be set up in the GTA?

Westin's team delivers and sets up across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date after the quote is agreed. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased frame.

Can the Lena move between rooms?

Human Care lists an optional castor kit. Lock the castors before a lift. Do not roll the frame with a person in the sling.
