Description
The Leckey Pronestander is Leckey's angle-adjustable prone pediatric stander for children about 1-18 years. Westin Healthcare quotes it after a clinical assessment, then delivers and sets it up for families in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Sunrise Medical Canada prints three sizes and five incremental prone angles from 45 to 85 degrees. It is prone only. The child's occupational therapist or physiotherapist sets the angle and the pelvic pad. We do not give clinical advice.
Who this stander is for
This stander is for a child whose therapy team wants prone standing in a classroom, therapy room, or home, not a 3-in-1 tilt frame. Families usually call us when a therapist has named Pronestander, or when they are choosing between Pronestander, Freestander, Squiggles, and the R82 Caribou.
- Children who need individually adjustable chest, hip, knee, and sandal supports in prone
- Programs that want five locked prone angles rather than a continuous crank or electric tilt
- Families who do not need supine or upright in the same frame
How the Pronestander stands
The frame locks in one of five prone positions between 45 and 85 degrees. A fully adjustable pelvic pad and belt de-rotate the pelvis so the trunk and head have a base. Chest, hip, knee, and sandal supports adjust around that pelvis. A caregiver stays with the child in the frame.
Chest support height is 18.5-27 / 27-38 / 38-53 in. Trays are 16 x 21, 18 x 23, and 20 x 25 in. User heights 31.5-45.3 / 43.3-57 / 55-73 in. Capacities 132 / 176 / 198 lb. Those height and weight bands match the Freestander. The difference is the standing position.
Leckey Pronestander specifications
These figures are from Sunrise Medical Canada's current Pronestander card. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Size 1 about 1-5 years. Size 2 about 4-10 years. Size 3 about 9-18 years. Leckey manuals print a three year warranty on manufactured products and components. Sunrise Canada notes provincial and funding variation.
Prone, upright, or 3-in-1
Stay with Pronestander when the program is prone only. Use Freestander for upright only. Use Squiggles, Mygo, Horizon, or Caribou when the child needs more than one standing position.
- Leckey Freestander, upright sibling in the same size bands
- Leckey Squiggles Stander, 3-in-1 for ages 1-5
- R82 Caribou Stander, live multi-position R82 sibling
Funding help for a pediatric stander in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) lists pediatric walkers, standers, and strollers as funded mobility aids. ADP can fund 75% of the cost of a pediatric stander when it is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full client share. Not every product or situation qualifies, so talk to us and the child's therapy team before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), Easter Seals Ontario, and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
