Description
The Leckey Advance Bath Chair is Leckey's positional pediatric bath chair for children and teens who need support in the tub. Westin Healthcare quotes it after a clinical assessment, then delivers and sets it up for families in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Sunrise Medical Canada prints four sizes, a 17 in width, a 2-17 in seat height, and a 159 lb (72 kg) capacity for the line. An optional shower trolley base turns the same chair into a shower chair. The child's occupational therapist or physiotherapist sets the angles. We do not give clinical advice. This is bathroom equipment, not an ADP mobility device.
Who this bath chair is for
This chair is for a child whose therapy team wants a supported bath or shower position, with a caregiver who can stay in the room. Families usually call us when a therapist has named Advance, or when they are choosing between a Leckey bath chair and a NuProdx pediatric shower chair.
- Children and teens in the 1-18 year size bands who need hip and chest straps, and an optional head brace, in the tub
- Homes that want lever-adjusted height and angle so the caregiver can reach
- Families who may later add the shower trolley base instead of buying a second chair
A caregiver stays with the child. Non-slip footings are part of the design. This is not a wheelchair and it is not a stander.
How the Advance Bath Chair sits
Levers change height and angle so the chair matches the tub and the caregiver. An adjustable hip and chest strap holds the child. An optional head brace is a quote item. The fabric is durable nylon: breathable, rinse-clean, and machine washable at 140 F (60 C).
The shower trolley option converts the same chair into a wheeled shower chair. We quote that base only when the therapist asks for showering instead of, or as well as, tub use.
Sizes and fit
- Size 1: about 1-5 years, 30-41 in, seat depth 9 in, back 14 in, calf 10 in, head support 6 in

Bath chair or pediatric shower chair
Stay with Advance when the therapist wants a positional bath chair that can add a shower trolley. Move to a NuProdx pediatric shower chair when the need is a wheeled shower-commode, not a tub sling-style bath chair.
- NuProdx MC4000 Pediatric Shower Chair, wheeled pediatric shower chair
- NuProdx MC6000 Pediatric, pediatric tub slider / commode line
- Leckey Squiggles Seating System, when the next quote is a dry-land therapy seat
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Frequently asked questions
Does ADP cover a bath chair in Ontario?
Bathroom safety equipment is not on Ontario's mobility-aids list. Plan around other routes such as March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada, extended health, and community programs. Call (905) 451-7743 before anyone orders.
What sizes does the Leckey Advance Bath Chair come in?
Four sizes. Size 1 is about 1-5 years and 30-41 inches. Size 4 is about 12-18 years and 53-65 inches. Width is 17 inches on every size. The therapist's measurements pick the size.
What is the weight capacity of the Advance Bath Chair?
Sunrise Medical Canada prints 159 lb (72 kg) for the line. Stay inside that figure.
Can it be used in a shower?
Yes, when the shower trolley base is on the quote. That base converts the Advance into a wheeled shower chair. Without that base it is a tub chair with non-slip footings.
How do I clean the fabric?
Sunrise prints durable nylon that rinses clean and machine washes at 140 F (60 C). Follow the owner's manual for which pieces come off first.
Does a caregiver have to stay with the child?
Yes. This is a positional bath chair. A caregiver stays in the bathroom. We will show you the straps and levers at setup. We do not give clinical advice on unsupervised use.
What is included with the Leckey Advance Bath Chair?
You get the quoted size, straps, and (if quoted) the head brace and shower trolley. There is no single stock package. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets up across Brampton and the GTA.
How is this different from a NuProdx pediatric shower chair?
Advance is a Leckey positional bath chair that can add a shower trolley. NuProdx pediatric chairs are wheeled shower-commode or tub-slider systems. The therapist names which bathroom product matches the transfer plan.
What is the warranty on the Advance Bath Chair?
Leckey prints three years on manufactured products and components. Sunrise Canada notes provincial and funding variation. Westin Healthcare processes the claim through our service and repairs page.
