Description

The Ki Mobility Catalyst 5 is a 7000 series aluminum folding wheelchair. Westin Healthcare configures it to an occupational therapist or physiotherapist prescription and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists Catalyst 5 and 5ti together as an Adult Lightweight Performance manual wheelchair under device code WMA3KI010. It is not the Catalyst 5Vx (that uses WMA3KI015). It is not an off-the-shelf chair that ships the same day you click buy.

Ki's current spec table lists a 23 lb standard chair, a 12.8 lb transport weight with the footrest and rear wheels off, and a 300 lb standard rating (350 lb heavy duty). Seat width runs 14 to 22 inches and seat depth 14 to 20 inches. An ADP-registered therapist assessment comes first.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who needs a long-term ultralight folding wheelchair, who fits Ki's 300 lb standard rating (or the 350 lb heavy-duty option), and who will use the chair for six months or longer. Therapists pick the Catalyst 5 when they want Ki's Universal Axle Plate and the largest Catalyst option book on 7000 series aluminum.

If the therapist wants titanium instead of aluminum, see the Catalyst 5Ti. If they want Ki's value folding frame, see the live Catalyst 5Vx. If they want a Category 2 folder, see the Catalyst 4 and 4C.

  • A folding ultralight built to prescription
  • Ki's Catalyst 5 frame, 23 lb standard weight, 300 lb rating
  • Someone who can self-propel, or who may be pushed

Design and build

The Catalyst 5 uses a patented 7000 series aluminum frame with dual interlocking cross-braces and a power x-hinge. The Universal Axle Plate sets seat-to-floor height in half-inch steps and moves centre of gravity across a published 0.5 to 3.5 inch range. Camber is 0, 2, or 4 degrees. Quick-release rear axles come off for the car.

Front ends are swing-away hangers (Ki prints a lifetime hanger warranty) or fixed. Maxx Spoke wheels sit on the option list. A WC-19 transit system can sit on the order. Ki lists Twist power assist as compatible; 21 and 22 inch seats are not available with Twist on the April 2026 form.

  • Folding 7000 series aluminum, dual interlocking cross-braces
  • Universal Axle Plate, 0.5 to 3.5 inch centre-of-gravity range
  • Quick-release rear axles
  • Optional WC-19 transit
  • Optional Klaxon Twist on a 14 to 20 inch seat

Ki Mobility Catalyst 5 specifications

These figures are for the Catalyst 5 on Ki Mobility's current product card, the DCN0446.1 brochure, and the April 2026 order form, sold here under ADP code WMA3KI010. The specification tab holds the stored values. Do not mix them with Catalyst 5Vx (WMA3KI015) or with Catalyst 4 and 4C (WMA2KI010).

Standard weight 23 lbs (10.4 kg). Transport weight 12.8 lbs (5.8 kg) on a 16 by 16 inch frame with 5 by 1 inch poly casters and swing-away arm receivers, footrest and rear wheels removed. Seat width 14 to 22 inches (35.6 to 55.9 cm). Seat depth 14 to 20 inches (35.6 to 50.8 cm). Front seat height 13.5 to 21 inches. Rear seat height 11.5 to 19.5 inches. Camber 0, 2, or 4 degrees. Weight capacity 300 lbs (136 kg) standard, 350 lbs (158.8 kg) heavy duty. Transit: yes, ANSI/RESNA WC-19.

Warranty for the original purchaser is lifetime on the frame, cross-braces, hangers, and quick-release axles, and one year on other parts. Ki prints an expected frame life of five years. Wear items such as upholstery, tires, armrest pads, tubes, armrests, and grips sit outside that term.

How the chair is specified

The Catalyst 5 is built on Ki's order after the assessment. Westin and the therapist write seat width, seat depth, seat heights, hangers, wheels, colour, transit, and whether Twist is on the chair. Those choices are not a boxed stock list. A floor chair, if we can show one, will not match every prescribed size.

Catalyst 5 or another Ki folding chair

The Catalyst 5 is Ki's flagship aluminum folder. The Catalyst 5Ti is the same axle story in titanium (WMA3KI010). The live Catalyst 5Vx is the value 7000 series folder under WMA3KI015. The Catalyst 4 and 4C are the Category 2 pair (250 lb standard). If the therapist wants a current Ki rigid instead, start with the Rogue 2 or the Rogue ALX.

Funding help for a wheelchair in Ontario

This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area after the prescription is built. We bring it in, unfold it, and show you the wheel locks, the fold, and the axle and hanger setup before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a folding ultralight first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace. ADP does not pay for repairs.

Ki Mobility manufacturer warranty

Ki Mobility warrants the frame, cross-braces, hangers, and quick-release axles for the life of the original purchaser, and all other parts for one year from first consumer purchase. Wear items are outside that term. The expected life of the frame is five years. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Is This The Catalyst 5 Or The Catalyst 5Vx?

The Ki Mobility Catalyst 5 uses ADP code WMA3KI010, shared with the 5Ti. The Catalyst 5Vx uses WMA3KI015. They share the Catalyst family look and they are not the same order form.

What Does Category 3 Mean On The Catalyst 5?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists the Catalyst 5 as an Adult Lightweight Performance manual wheelchair. Dealers often call that Category 3 or Type 3. The chair has centre-of-gravity adjustment, quick-release axles, and anti-tippers on the Ki order.

Who Qualifies For ADP On This Chair?

You must be an Ontario resident with a valid Ontario health card and a disability that needs a mobility aid for six months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before anyone orders the chair. Income is not part of the test. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved.

How Does The 75 / 25 Split Work?

For eligible clients, ADP pays 75 percent of the approved price and the person pays 25 percent. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities can be covered at 100 percent of that approved price. Extra items that sit outside the ADP chart are billed separately.

What Is The Assessment Process?

Book an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist. They confirm the need, trial equipment where they can, and complete the application with Westin as the ADP-registered vendor. We submit the form. Do not buy the chair first. A chair bought before approval is not reimbursed.

How Long Does ADP Take?

The ministry says it aims to review a mobility application within eight weeks of receiving it. That is ADP's stated aim, not a Westin delivery date. After approval we order the Ki frame to the prescription and book a setup date.

Can I Try A Catalyst 5 Before The Order?

Westin keeps assessment and trial equipment for therapists to use. Call (905) 451-7743 or come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will see what is on the floor. A trial chair may not be the same colour or size as the chair that is later built for you.

What Is The Weight Capacity?

Ki lists 300 lbs as standard and 350 lbs on the heavy-duty option for the Catalyst 5. Stay at or under the rating on your order. The 12.8 lb transport weight is the frame with wheels and footrests off, not the rolling chair.

Will This Chair Fold Into A Car Trunk?

The Catalyst 5 frame folds. Rear wheels come off for the 12.8 lb transport figure. We can show you the fold at delivery. The chair is not a car seat unless a transit kit is on the order and the vehicle is set up for it.

Does The Catalyst 5 Take Klaxon Twist?

Ki lists Klaxon Twist as compatible with the Catalyst 5. The April 2026 form blocks 21 and 22 inch seats with Twist. See the Klaxon Twist page.

What Is The Warranty?

Lifetime on the frame, cross-braces, hangers, and quick-release axles for the original purchaser, and one year on other parts. Wear items are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

What Happens If ADP Declines The Application?

ADP sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. We will sit with you and the therapist on the next step. Other routes such as March of Dimes Canada or Veterans Affairs Canada may still help.
