JAY J2 Deep Contour Cushion

The JAY J2 Deep Contour cushion is Sunrise Medical's 4.5 inch (11.4 cm) pre-contoured foam and JAY Flow fluid wheelchair cushion for greater immersion in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The current J2 series card rates 14 to 21 inch widths at 330 lbs (150 kg) and 22 to 24 inch widths at 500 lbs (227 kg). A 16 by 16 inch Deep Contour weighs 6.27 lbs (2.8 kg). The pelvic loading area is 3 inches deep.

This is not the 2.5 inch J2 Standard. It is the deeper well, with more fluid volume, on its own January 2025 order form. Option 2477 is the 17 by 17 stretch size inside that family, not the only size.

Who this cushion is for

The JAY J2 Deep Contour cushion fits a person whose therapist wants a deeper fluid well than the standard J2. Sunrise writes it for greater immersion and increased stability. A seating therapist should confirm Deep Contour versus Fusion if CryoFluid or an air insert is on the plan.

Fluid well, base, and covers

The JAY J2 Deep Contour cushion uses a closed-cell pre-contoured foam base that Sunrise prints as easy to modify. The JAY Flow tripad sits in a 3 inch pelvic loading area. Stretch, AirExchange, and moisture-resistant covers are the three outer-cover choices. Positioning components are an option on the order form.

The JAY J2 Deep Contour cushion is the current 4.5 inch J2 fluid well. Stay here if a therapist wants that deeper well. The JAY J2 Standard Cushion is the 2.5 inch J2 on a different order form. The JAY Fusion with Cryo is the current Fusion step with CryoFluid. The JAY Union Cushion is foam plus fluid without a 3 inch well. The retired JAY J2 Plus was the 650 lb bariatric J2.

Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario

This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost.
