Description
The Golden Companion 3-wheel is Golden's full-size 3-wheel scooter for all-day indoor and outdoor use. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets the GC340 up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Golden rates it at 400 lbs (181 kg), 5 mph (8.0 km/h), and 19 miles (30.6 km) on two U1 batteries. The turning radius is 45 inches (114 cm). Assembled weight is 207 lbs (93.9 kg). The heaviest printed piece is 71 lbs (32.2 kg).
Who this scooter is for
This scooter is for a person who wants a full-size 3-wheel scooter with a quilted high-back seat, stays at or under 400 lbs, and can live with a 45 inch turn. Families usually call us when the mid-size GC240 feels short on capacity or when they want the 2024 digital dash and front and rear suspension.
If you want a tighter 37 inch turn and a 350 lb rating, start with the Companion GC240. If you want four wheels, see the Companion GC440. If you need 500 lbs, see the Companion HD. The GC340 is not a folding travel scooter.
- 400 lb (181 kg) rating and a 45 inch (114 cm) turn
- Two U1 batteries, 19 miles (30.6 km); optional 50 AH for longer range
- Front and rear suspension and a digital dash
Range, speed, and batteries
Golden's current Companion full-size sell sheet rates the GC340 at 19 miles (30.6 km) on two U1 batteries. An optional 50 AH pair is listed for longer range; Golden does not print a mile figure for that upgrade on the 2024 sheet. Top speed is 5 mph (8.0 km/h). Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten those figures. The charger is a 3.5 amp Super Charger, off-board. Golden's Companion manual asks for 6 to 8 hours after daily use and 12 hours on a new pair.
A 90 amp Dynamic R-Series controller and rear-wheel drive move the scooter. Freewheel mode lets a helper push it. USB on the tiller charges a phone. The digital dash shows remaining battery as a percent.
Portability and transport
The Companion GC340 disassembles. Golden's Canada brochure lists a 57 lb front half, a 71 lb rear half, and a 29 lb seat. Assembled weight is 207 lbs (93.9 kg). Width is 24.5 inches (62 cm). It does not fold. The 71 lb rear half is a two-person lift for many households.
The two U1 batteries are sealed lead-acid. Golden's sheet marks them air-travel safe as sealed cells. That is not a lithium carry-on pack. Confirm the airline before you book. The owner manual says not to operate or store the scooter in rain, snow, mist, or below-freezing temperatures.

GC240, GC340, or GC440: which Companion fits
The GC340 is the full-size 3-wheel step: 400 lb, 19 miles, 45 inch turn, front and rear suspension. The GC240 is the 350 lb mid-size 3-wheel. The GC440 keeps the 400 lb rating and adds a fourth wheel and a 56 inch turn. Pick GC340 for indoor turning with a full-size seat. Pick GC440 if you want four wheels on outdoor pavement.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased scooters are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Golden manufacturer warranty
Golden's printed Companion GC340 terms are lifetime limited on the frame, 2 years on the drive train, 2 years on electronics, and 1 year on the batteries. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. We handle the claim with you.

The Companion GC340 uses two sealed U1 lead-acid batteries. Golden marks them air-travel safe as sealed cells. That is not a lithium carry-on pack. Confirm the airline before you book.

The Companion GC340 is a 3-wheel full-size scooter with a 45 inch (114 cm) turning radius. The Companion GC440 is the 4-wheel sibling with a 56 inch turn. Three wheels here are for indoor turning on a full-size deck.
