Description
The Handicare FST-300 is a portable freestanding rail. It is the track, not the motor. Handicare rates the frame at 300 lb (136 kg), not 300 kg. Westin Healthcare quotes it for homes and travel setups in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area when a ceiling track is not the right fit. You still need a portable motor and slings. Those are separate lines on the quote.
Savaria Patient Care still lists the FST-300. The brochure names the Handicare P-440 portable motor and also says the rail can take a Handicare portable lift whose safe working load is at most 300 lb, or a higher-rated lift if you still obey the 300 lb rail limit. For a current portable motor, ask us about the Savaria Monarch and we will check the trolley. For a heavier Human Care frame, see the Humancare Lena or the Humancare FlexiRail.
Who it is for
This rail is for a person who needs a short-term or movable overhead transfer at or under 300 lb, and whose room cannot take a ceiling track. Families also pack it for travel. It is not the right frame when the person needs a 440 lb or 600 lb system. In that case we quote a Human Care gantry or a fixed track instead of stretching this rail.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms that cannot take a ceiling track
- Travel or vacation setups that pack into the optional roller bag
- Temporary rooms where one person can put the rail up in minutes
How it lifts
The FST-300 is two posts, a 96 inch rail, and a trolley. You assemble it without tools. Height adjusts from 5 ft to 7.5 ft in 2 inch steps. A portable motor hangs on the trolley and lowers a carry bar. Handicare says one person can set the empty frame up in minutes. That sentence is about assembly, not about how many people run a transfer.
No ceiling joist work is required for the frame itself. The 8 ft rail is sized for beds up to 5 ft wide and for bathroom setups. Westin's own team handles delivery and setup through the delivery section below.
Handicare FST-300 specifications
These figures are from Savaria's current FST-300 card and the Handicare FST-300 brochure.
Safe working load is 300 lb (136 kg). Length is 96 in (2440 mm). Base width is 36 in (910 mm). Height is 60 to 90 in (1520 to 2290 mm) in 2 in (51 mm) steps. The brochure lists unit weight 45 lb (20.4 kg) including the trolley, track 15 lb (6.8 kg), and post-and-leg 12 lb (5.4 kg). No single piece is over 17 lb (7.7 kg). Material is aluminium. The frame is tested to ISO 10535:2006. Product code 341400 is the frame. 341401 is the roller bag.
The 300 kg / 660 lb figure belongs to the Human Care gantries, not this Handicare rail.
Call (905) 451-7743 and we will write the frame, motor, slings, and delivery as one quote.
Slings and spreader bar
The FST-300 does not include a carry bar. The bar lives on the portable motor you hang on the trolley. Use slings that motor's manufacturer approves. The working load is the lowest rating among the 300 lb rail, the motor, the bar, and the sling.
Shop Westin's matching sling styles: universal slings, full-body slings, toileting slings, and divided-leg slings. Sit-to-stand slings belong on sit-to-stand floor lifts, not on this overhead rail.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this gantry across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and walk you through the setup before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a gantry first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Gantries are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the gantry is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a ceiling-lift setup before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups across Brampton and the GTA.
For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the gantry needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare FST-300 warranty
Savaria's current FST-300 card does not print a simple year-count warranty. The C-Series user manual prints 1 year from install or 18 months from manufacture for new Handicare lift equipment; ask us whether that card also ships with this rail. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
Is the FST-300 a 300 kg gantry?
No. Handicare lists 300 lb (136 kg). The 300 kg / 660 lb figure belongs to the Humancare Lena and FlexiRail. Do not plan a heavier transfer on this rail.
Does the FST-300 include the lift motor?
No. The FST-300 is the rail and trolley. The portable motor and slings are separate lines. A Westin quote lists them together so nothing is assumed.
Which motors can hang on the FST-300?
Handicare names the P-440 and any Handicare portable lift, with the rule that you obey the 300 lb rail if the motor is rated higher. The discontinued AP300 is a 300 lb portable. The current Monarch is 440 lb, so the rail, not the motor, would cap the transfer at 300 lb. Ask us to confirm the trolley before we pair them.
Do I need to open the ceiling?
No. The FST-300 stands on the floor. Handicare designed it so you do not mount a connection system in the ceiling.
What slings fit an FST-300 setup?
The slings that match the carry bar on the portable motor. Use universal, full-body, toileting, or divided-leg slings rated for that bar. Do not put a sit-to-stand sling on this overhead rail.
Does funding cover a gantry in Ontario?
Funding routes exist for patient lifts in Ontario, and eligibility depends on the person and the assessment. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.
Can one person assemble the FST-300?
Handicare says one person can assemble the empty frame in minutes without tools. That is assembly of the rail, not a statement about how many people run a transfer.
Can I rent a lift while we wait on a quote?
Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
How fast can an FST-300 be set up in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date after the quote is agreed. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased frame.
Does it pack for travel?
Handicare lists an optional roller bag (341401). The pieces fold to fit. Ask us to add the bag on the quote if the rail will move between homes.
