The Lunar Basic Full Support backrest is Future Mobility's full-height foam wheelchair back support for aggressive lateral support and more complex positioning. Westin Healthcare fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area after a seating check on the chair.
This is the Lunar Basic full-back height (20 to 24 in). It is not the mid or low Lunar Basic, and it is not the 500 lb Lunar Heavy Duty shell.
Who this back support is for
The Lunar Basic Full Support backrest is for a person whose seating therapist is looking for a modular aluminum back with a tall shell and a choice of no, basic, or ultra laterals. Future Mobility designed Lunar Basic for users who need aggressive lateral support and complex positioning.
A seating therapist should confirm the height, the lateral style, and the cane fit. Westin does not give clinical positioning advice. If you have questions about posture or transfers, ask the therapist who assessed you, or call us and we will book that conversation.
Hardware, laterals, and fit
The shell is lightweight aluminum. Foam is replaceable. Pins take up to a 2 in (5 cm) difference in seat width. Height, depth, and recline angle adjust on the hardware. Lower latch levers release the back for travel or cleaning.
Future Mobility prints hardware for 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in (19, 22, and 25 mm) tubing. The Lunar brochure also shows the newer clamp covering 7/8 in to 1-1/8 in (22 to 29 mm). Use Model Choice for No Lateral, Basic Lateral, or Ultra Lateral. Optional add-on pads come in fixed, height-adjustable, fixed-offset, and adjustable swing-away styles.

Use Choose Cushion Size for the width by height pair. Use Colors for the cover. Use Model Choice for the lateral style. We set the hardware on the canes at delivery.
Lunar Basic, Lunar HD, or Max
Stay here if you want the standard 250 lb Lunar Basic in a full-height shell. The Lunar Basic Mid Support is the 14 to 18 in height. The Lunar Basic Low Support is the 10 to 12 in height with no ultra lateral. The Lunar Heavy Duty Full Support is the 500 lb ribbed shell from 22 in wide. The Max Ultra is the Prism-line back with 3 in higher laterals.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin's own team delivers and fits this back support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, mount it on the wheelchair canes, and show you the quick-release latches before we leave.

Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

What Size Wheelchair Backrest Do I Need?
A wheelchair back support is ordered by seat width and back height, not by clothing size. Measure the wheelchair seat width and how high the shell should sit on the back canes, then use Choose Cushion Size for the matching width by height. A seating therapist should confirm the size before you order.
What Is A Wheelchair Back Support?
A wheelchair back support replaces or sits on the wheelchair's sling back and mounts to the rear canes. The Lunar Basic Full Support backrest is a rigid aluminum shell with foam and optional laterals. It is not a seat cushion and it is not a whole wheelchair.

Can I Remove The Lunar Basic For Transport?

Does The Full Support Include A Headrest?
The Lunar Basic Full Support backrest is readily set up for a headrest mount on the factory brochure. The headrest itself is a separate part. Future Mobility prints that a headrest is not available on the Low Support style.
