Description

The EZ-Access Gateway 3G two-line ramp is a one-piece aluminum solid surface portable wheelchair ramp with two-line handrails and loops. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the Gateway 3G style with a welded top rail and a second lower rail, not the ramp-only deck and not the vertical picket style.

EZ-ACCESS rates every Gateway 3G length at 1,000 lb (454 kg). The walking surface is 36 in (91 cm) wide. Lengths run from 3 to 10 ft. Two-line handrails bring the overall width to 41.75 in (106 cm) and the rail height to 36 in (91 cm). The default size on the order is the 4-ft GATEWAY3G 04TL. Use Select Ramp Size if you need another length.

Who this ramp is for

This portable wheelchair ramp is for a household that wants a solid, seam-free deck at a door, a landing, or a short run of steps, and wants two-line handrails for a grip on the way up and down. Families usually call us when a suitcase or trifold ramp is not wide enough or stable enough for daily use, but a full modular system is more ramp than the rise needs.

If you want the same Gateway 3G deck without rails, see the EZ-Access Gateway 3G Solid Surface Ramp. If the rise is only a doorway threshold, start with the Transitions Modular Entry Ramp. If the run is long, turns, or needs platforms, see the QRamp QR4.0 Modular Ramp System.

  • Daily home access for a wheelchair, scooter, or walker, within the 1,000 lb rating
  • A 36 in solid deck with 2 in side curbs on 3-8 ft lengths, and 4 in curbs on 9-10 ft
  • Two-line handrails with loops, ready to bolt to the deck

Length, slope, and rise

Measure the rise from the ground or walk to the top of the landing. EZ-ACCESS publishes a rise guideline for each Gateway 3G length. Stay inside that guideline and inside the incline limit printed in the mobility device owner's guide. Never exceed the tighter of those two.

Maker rise guidelines: 3 ft up to 4 in, 4 ft up to 6 in, 5 ft up to 7 in, 6 ft up to 9 in, 7 ft up to 10 in, 8 ft up to 12 in, 9 ft up to 13 in, 10 ft up to 15 in. EZ-ACCESS also publishes an incline calculator with 1:6, 1:8, 1:10, and 1:12 (ADA) ratios and tells you to confirm the ratio with local code. Several of the published Gateway rises are steeper than 1:12. Ask us to walk the numbers with you before you pick a length.

You cannot join two Gateway 3G ramps into a longer run. For more than 10 ft, EZ-ACCESS points to its PATHWAY 3G modular kit. We quote that as a site measure, or we quote a QRamp QR4.0 layout.

Surface, rails, and build

The deck is 6000 series aluminum with a permanent extruded slip-resistant surface. It will not rust, rot, or deteriorate from outdoor weather. EZ-ACCESS also offers a black Safeguard Hi-Traction deck and black powder-coat rails. Ask us if you want those finishes. The extruded deck is what we stock as standard.

A formed top lip sits on the landing. A self-adjusting plate meets the ground. Secure the top lip through the two pre-drilled holes with the hardware named in the EZ-ACCESS instructions. Two-line rails use a welded continuous top rail, a lower second rail, and loops. You attach the posts and loops with basic tools. The ramp-only deck is one piece with no assembly. The two-line version is the same deck plus those rail parts.

EZ-Access Gateway 3G two-line specifications

These figures are from the current EZ-ACCESS GATEWAY 3G technical specifications (07-11-2024). The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the sheet when they fight. Do not use the old 850 lb line or the old 45 lb 4-ft weight.

Capacity 1,000 lb (454 kg) on every length. Usable width 36 in (91 cm). Overall width with two-line rails 41.75 in (106 cm). Usable rail height 34.5 in (88 cm). Overall rail height 36 in (91 cm). Two-line weights: 3 ft 44 lb (20 kg), 4 ft 52 lb (24 kg), 5 ft 60 lb (27 kg), 6 ft 68 lb (31 kg), 7 ft 74 lb (34 kg), 8 ft 82 lb (37 kg), 9 ft 96 lb (44 kg), 10 ft 106 lb (48 kg). Curbs 2 in on 3-8 ft and 4 in on 9-10 ft. Lifetime Limited warranty. Powder-coat and Safeguard finishes sit outside that term.

Choosing a length

Use Select Ramp Size for 3-ft through 10-ft Gateway ramp. The 4-ft GATEWAY3G 04TL is the default. Pick the length whose rise guideline covers your measured step, then check the mobility device guide. If you want the same length without rails, order the Gateway 3G solid surface ramp instead of adding a rail-off choice here.

Suitcase, trifold, threshold, or modular

A suitcase ramp folds in half and carries like a case. See the Suitcase Signature Series and the Suitcase Advantage Series. A trifold ramp folds into a narrower bundle for a longer portable run. See the Trifold Advantage Series. A threshold ramp covers a doorway lip, not a porch. See the Modular Entry Ramp and the Angled Entry Ramp. A modular system is a set of sections, platforms, and rails built to the house. See the QRamp QR4.0.

The Gateway 3G two-line ramp sits between a suitcase and a modular system: one solid 36 in deck, two-line rails, 3-10 ft, moved as one piece when the need changes.

Funding help for a wheelchair ramp in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund ramps, so plan around other routes. The March of Dimes Canada Home and Vehicle Modification Program is the main Ontario funding source for home accessibility changes like ramps, and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), the Ontario Renovates program in some municipalities, extended health plans, and community organizations can also help. A ramp may also qualify as a home accessibility or medical expense on a Canadian tax return in some situations. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers this ramp across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, set the length you ordered, and show you how the top lip and ground plate sit before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a ramp first. For a scheduled in-home drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Purchased ramps are delivered on a scheduled date.

A Gateway 3G is larger than small parcel goods. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the ramp is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the ramp needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

EZ-ACCESS manufacturer warranty

EZ-ACCESS covers the Gateway 3G for the original purchaser under its Lifetime Limited warranty. Powder-coat and Safeguard finishes sit outside that term. The warranty is not transferable. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

What Length Of Ramp Do I Need?

Measure the rise from the ground to the landing, then pick the EZ-Access Gateway 3G length whose published rise guideline covers that number: 3 ft up to 4 in, 4 ft up to 6 in, 5 ft up to 7 in, 6 ft up to 9 in, 7 ft up to 10 in, 8 ft up to 12 in, 9 ft up to 13 in, or 10 ft up to 15 in. Also stay inside the incline limit in the wheelchair or scooter owner's guide.

How Steep Can A Wheelchair Ramp Be?

EZ-ACCESS publishes Gateway 3G rise guidelines by length and an incline calculator with 1:6, 1:8, 1:10, and 1:12 ratios. The 1:12 ratio is the ADA standard the maker names as a starting point. Confirm the ratio with your city or local code, and never exceed the mobility device maker's own incline limit.

Do I Need A Permit For A Wheelchair Ramp In Ontario?

A permit for a wheelchair ramp in Ontario is a municipal question. Some cities treat a portable ramp that sits on the landing differently from a fixed structure. Check with your local building department before you install, and call (905) 451-7743 if you want us to talk through what you measured.

What Is The Weight Capacity Of The Gateway 3G Two-Line Ramp?

The EZ-Access Gateway 3G two-line ramp is rated at 1,000 lb (454 kg) on every length from 3 to 10 ft. Stay at or under that rating, and stay inside the rating of the wheelchair or scooter that will use the ramp.

How Wide Is The Gateway 3G Two-Line Ramp?

The EZ-Access Gateway 3G two-line ramp has a 36 in (91 cm) usable walking surface. With two-line handrails the overall width is 41.75 in (106 cm). Measure the door and the path beside the house before you order.

Does The Gateway 3G Two-Line Ramp Need Assembly?

The EZ-Access Gateway 3G deck is one piece. The two-line handrails, posts, and loops attach with basic tools. The ramp-only Gateway 3G has no rail parts to attach.

Can I Join Two Gateway 3G Ramps Together?

No. EZ-ACCESS does not let you connect two Gateway 3G ramps. If you need more than 10 ft, ask us about a PATHWAY 3G kit or a QRamp QR4.0 layout.

Gateway 3G With Rails Or Without Rails?

The EZ-Access Gateway 3G two-line ramp adds a welded top rail, a lower second rail, and loops for a grip. The Gateway 3G solid surface ramp is the same 36 in deck without those rails. Choose rails if the person wants a handhold. Choose the open deck if the path is tight or the rails would block a door swing.

Is A Suitcase Ramp Better Than A Gateway 3G?

A suitcase ramp folds and stores in a trunk. The EZ-Access Gateway 3G two-line ramp stays as a 36 in solid deck with rails and is meant for repeated home use. Choose a suitcase when you need to carry the ramp. Choose Gateway 3G when the ramp will sit at the same door most days.

What Warranty Does The Gateway 3G Carry?

The EZ-Access Gateway 3G two-line ramp carries the EZ-ACCESS Lifetime Limited warranty for the original purchaser. Powder-coat and Safeguard finishes sit outside that term. Westin Healthcare handles the claim with you.
