EZ-Access Fortress OSHA Stair System 27.5-42.5

The EZ-Access Fortress OSHA Stair System is a modular aluminum stair-and-platform kit, model FOR2742. Westin Healthcare sells the 4-riser size for rises from 27.5 to 42.5 in and can deliver it across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. This is a stair. It is not a Fortress stairlift and it is not a Handicare chair.

EZ-ACCESS rates FOR2742 at 1,000 lb (454 kg). The system nets about 110 lb (50 kg). OSHA-compliant set points on this size are 34 in and 42.5 in. Legs on the platform and the riser adjust independently for uneven ground.

Who this stair system is for

This stair system is for a landing, trailer, enclosure, or temporary access that needs an aluminum stair with a platform, not a seated stairlift. Sites usually call us when wood stairs will not last outdoors, when the crew has to move the stair later, or when an OSHA-height setting is on the spec.

If the person cannot walk stairs, look at a Handicare 1100, a Serenity porch lift, or a Gateway 3G ramp. The 3-riser FOR2334 (23-34 in) is a different EZ-ACCESS size. We do not sell that length on this SKU.

Build and setup

FOR2742 is 6000 series aluminum with an extruded slip-resistant tread. Risers are open. One riser locks to the 40.5 x 60 in platform with an OSHA safety pin. Handrails slide in and lock with snap buttons. They work on either side. The box includes one riser handrail and one platform handrail. Platform and riser legs level independently. EZ-ACCESS prints pre-drilled holes if you want to fasten the platform to a building.

EZ-ACCESS says you can expand or move the system, and that a front-approach or an up-and-over pair is a custom layout with extra parts. An optional canopy is a separate maker accessory. A canopy is quoted on its own if you need one.

Funding help for a stairlift or home accessibility in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund stairlifts, platform lifts, or home modifications, so plan around other routes. The March of Dimes Canada Home and Vehicle Modification Program is the main Ontario funding source for home accessibility changes like stairlifts and platform lifts, and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), the Ontario Renovates program in some municipalities, extended health plans, and community organizations can also help. A stair system is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the system is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Can One Person Set It Up?

EZ-ACCESS says each major FOR2742 piece is under 50 lb and that the system exceeds NIOSH lifting recommendations for one-person handling. Universal handrails fold flat for a vehicle.

Are Handrails Included?

Yes. The Fortress FOR2742 ships with one riser handrail and one platform handrail. They fit left or right. Extra rails for a two-sided or front-approach layout are a custom quote.

Can I Join Two Systems?

EZ-ACCESS says two standard systems do not bolt together on their own. An up-and-over run needs extra hardware and handrails. Ask us to quote that layout.

Is There A Canopy?

EZ-ACCESS offers an optional canopy for the Fortress stair. It is a separate accessory. A FOR2742 order is the stair and platform only.
