This is a foam mattress, not an air system. Drive lists two foam layers, a die-cut top, a high-density bottom for higher body weight, and a premium foam heel section. Choose ShearCare 1500 when the therapist has asked for a multi-layer bariatric foam mattress with a heel section. If a single-core foam surface is enough, see the Drive 15301 or the Drive 15310. If they need 54 inches, ShearCare is the wrong width; use the Drive 15312.

Construction and how it works

ShearCare 1500 is a two-layer latex-free foam mattress. The full-width top layer is high-resilient, high-density die-cut foam. The bottom layer is high-density foam for support and stability at bariatric weights. Drive lists a premium foam heel section that offloads pressure from the heels. That is a construction claim, not a promise that a wound will heal.

The cover is removable. Feature bullets call it premium polyurethane stretch; the spec table prints a fluid-resistant nylon top and a waterproof vinyl bottom. Drive lists it as fluid resistant, low shear, and vapor permeable. Current Drive cards do not offer an elevated perimeter on this model.
