Description

PPS Glide is an air-assisted mattress for a lateral transfer from one flat surface to another, such as a bed to a stretcher. Patient Positioning Systems makes it. Savaria Patient Care lists it for North America. Westin Healthcare quotes it and delivers it for homes and care sites in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

This is not PPS Lift. PPS Lift raises a person from the floor to bed or stretcher height. PPS Glide slides that person sideways onto the next surface. They can share one blower. They are not the same product. This is also not a hard sliding board, a fabric slide sheet, or a sling hoist. If the person needs to stand and turn, start with the Handicare ReTurn. If they need a boom and a sling, start with the Span America F400.

Who it is for

This mattress is for a person who stays on their back for a move from bed to stretcher, stretcher to bed, or another pair of flat surfaces. The manufacturer's user manuals name a two-caregiver team. We follow that note. We will not promise that one person is enough.

  • Bed-to-stretcher and stretcher-to-bed transfers when the person should stay supine
  • Care rooms, imaging, and procedure spaces where a lateral air mattress is the plan
  • A person whose width fits the deflated mattress on the quote, inside that code's working load

The manuals say not to use PPS Glide as a sleep surface. Do not leave it under a person who is at risk of pressure injury. Do not leave the person unattended while the mattress is inflated and the blower is on.

What you get and how it slides

You get the PPS Glide mattress in the model on your quote. Reusable mats have extended pull handles and two patient centering straps. Single-patient-use mats have side pull handles and centering straps. The PPS Air Supply blower is required and is quoted with the mattress. A protective sheet can be quoted with a reusable mat. A tote or cart can be quoted if you want one. PPS Lift is a separate product.

The caregivers log-roll the person onto the deflated mattress, head at the HEAD label, and centre them. Straps go on in gentle contact; they are not restraint straps and you do not pull on them to move the person. The hose plugs in at the foot end. The blower fills the mattress in about 10-15 seconds. Transfer only when it is fully inflated. Pull by the handles in one continuous move onto the receiving surface, then turn the blower off and unplug it.

Set the brakes. Keep both surfaces level, or set the receiving surface 1-3 in lower than the sending surface. Raise the far rail. Do not use another manufacturer's blower unless the manual names it.

If the person first comes up from the floor on a PPS Lift, centre both the person and the Glide on the Lift and keep the Glide deflated until the Lift is up. The same blower then inflates the Glide for the slide onto the bed or stretcher.

PPS Glide specifications

These figures are for PPS Glide, not PPS Lift. They come from the 2023 PPS Glide reusable and single-patient-use user manuals. The specification tab holds the stored values. Choose Model sets which row applies.

Every mattress in this family is 78 in (198 cm) long. Reusable Regular 3062-500-028 is 28 in wide, 3.5 lb (1.6 kg), and 500 lb (227 kg). Reusable Large 3062-500-032 is 32 in wide and 700 lb (317 kg). Reusable Bariatric 3062-500-046 is 46 in wide and 1,000 lb (453 kg). Reusable fabric is nylon with a polyurethane underside, water resistant, antistatic, and latex free.

Single-patient-use Regular 3062-500-SU34 is 34 in wide. Large SU39 is 39 in. Bariatric SU50 is 50 in. All three SPU codes are 1,200 lb (544 kg). SPU fabric is nylon and polyester, latex free.

The person's width must not exceed the width of the deflated mattress. Stay inside the working load printed for that code. The Savaria / PPS materials state that the mattress is radiolucent and MRI compatible. Warranty on the user manuals is 1 year limited on the blower from the date of delivery. Expected service life on a reusable mattress is 3 years of normal use. A single-patient-use mattress is for one person only.

A Lift chamber height, a Lift 32 in or 39 in width, or a 1,200 lb Lift rating belongs on PPS Lift, not here. A hard-board size belongs on EasyGlide, not here.

Model options

Use Model to pick the factory code. This listing is quote-only. There is no extra on any row.

  • 3062-500-028: PPS Glide Regular 28" reusable, 500 lb (227 kg)
  • 3062-500-032: PPS Glide Large 32" reusable, 700 lb (317 kg)
  • 3062-500-046: PPS Glide Bariatric 46" reusable, 1,000 lb (453 kg)
  • 3062-500-SU34: PPS Glide Regular 34" single-patient-use, 1,200 lb (544 kg)
  • 3062-500-SU39: PPS Glide Large 39" single-patient-use, 1,200 lb (544 kg)
  • 3062-500-SU50: PPS Glide Bariatric 50" single-patient-use, 1,200 lb (544 kg)

Ask us which width fits the person and the bed or stretcher you will transfer onto. The blower is quoted with the mattress on every row. A matching protective sheet can be added to a reusable quote.

Delivery in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team can deliver this system across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We can unpack the mattress and the blower and show you the hose connection, the centering straps, and the pull before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mattress first. For a scheduled visit, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.

If the mattress travels with an oversized lift or a bed, or if it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

What this mattress works with

PPS Glide is a lateral air mattress. It is not attached to a lift boom and it has no sling loops. Pick it when the person is already at surface height and needs to slide to the next flat surface.

  • PPS Lift: the companion floor-to-bed air jack. Use Lift to raise the person, then Glide to slide them onto the bed or stretcher. Same blower. Not a width of this mattress.
  • Handicare ReTurn: a sit-to-stand platform for a person who can pull up, stand, and turn. Not a lateral mattress.
  • Span America F400: a foldable 400 lb sling floor lift when a boom and a sling are the better plan.

Ask us to add EasySlide or WendyLett on the quote if the work is turning or sliding in bed on a fabric sheet. Those cards are stocked; we will confirm the live slug on the order.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the mattress or the blower needs a look, you call the shop that sold it, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.

PPS Glide warranty

The 2023 user manuals warrant the PPS Air Supply blower against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of delivery. That warranty is not a lifetime guarantee. Expected service life on a reusable mattress is 3 years of normal use. A single-patient-use mattress is not a multi-year surface. Inspect the mattress before every use and stop using it if a seam is open or the fabric is torn. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

How is PPS Glide different from PPS Lift?

PPS Glide slides a person sideways from one flat surface to another. PPS Lift raises a person from the floor to bed height. They can work together and they share a blower. They are not the same product. Lift is quoted on its own card.

What is the safe working load of PPS Glide?

It depends on the code. Reusable Regular is 500 lb (227 kg), Large is 700 lb (317 kg), and Bariatric is 1,000 lb (453 kg). Each single-patient-use code is 1,200 lb (544 kg). Stay inside the number on the mattress you actually have. If a Glide sits on a PPS Lift, use the lower of the two ratings.

Does a blower come with the mattress?

The PPS Air Supply is a required accessory. We quote it with the mattress. Confirm on the quote whether it ships in the same carton or as a second line. The same blower is used on PPS Lift.

Can one caregiver operate PPS Glide?

The user manuals require a minimum of two caregivers. We follow that note. We will not promise that one person is enough.

What is the difference between reusable and single-patient-use?

Reusable mats (028, 032, 046) are nylon with a polyurethane underside. They can be wiped and, when needed, machine-washed as the manual describes. Single-patient-use mats (SU34, SU39, SU50) are for one person. They are wider for the same size name and all three are 1,200 lb.

Which size should I pick?

Compare the person's width to the deflated mattress. The person must not be wider than the mat at any point. Then stay inside that code's working load. We will match the bed or stretcher on the quote.

Is PPS Glide MRI compatible?

The manufacturer marks the mattress as presenting no known hazards in an MR environment and states that it is radiolucent and MRI compatible. Follow the imaging department's own rules for the blower and any metal cart.

Can I leave a person on PPS Glide as a mattress?

No. The manuals say it is a transfer device only. Do not leave it under a person for a long period, and do not leave it under a person at risk of pressure injury.

How do I clean a reusable PPS Glide?

Wipe it between uses with the facility disinfectant. The manual prefers a quaternary cleaner. A 1:10 bleach solution is acceptable and may fade the fabric. Heavily soiled reusable mats can be machine-washed as the laundering sheet describes. Do not steam, pressure-wash, or iron. Single-patient-use mats are not laundry items.

How is PPS Glide different from the Handicare ReTurn or the F400?

ReTurn is a sit-to-stand platform. The F400 is a sling floor lift. PPS Glide is a lateral air mattress. Choose ReTurn when the person can stand and turn. Choose the F400 when a sling hoist is the plan. Choose PPS Glide when the person stays on their back and needs to slide from one surface to the next.

How fast can a purchased PPS Glide be delivered in the GTA?

Ask us for the next ship date. Call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service for lifts and beds, not automatically to a purchased air mattress.

What is the warranty on PPS Glide?

PPS prints 1 year from the delivery date on the blower for defects in materials and workmanship. Westin Healthcare processes the claim. Details are on our service and repairs page.
