Description
The Drive Delta 15235 is Drive Medical's floor-lowering full-electric hospital bed, sold as the Delta Ultra-Light 1000 Full-Electric Low Bed. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the hi-low sibling of the Drive Delta 1000: same Delta family motor and hand control, with a sleep deck that lowers to 9.25 inches.
Full electric means the hand control moves the head section, the foot section, and the height of the bed. Drive lists a 450 lb weight capacity and a 175 lb frame. A 9V battery in the hand control can lower the head and foot nine times if the power goes out.
Who this bed is for
This bed is for a person who needs a hospital-style bed at home and needs the sleep deck closer to the floor than a standard homecare bed. The low deck helps with transfers and can feel safer for someone who is at risk of rolling or falling from a higher mattress. The same hand control still raises the bed so a caregiver can change linen or help the person sit up without working at floor height.
Families usually call us when someone is coming home from hospital, when a regular bed has become hard to get in and out of, or when a therapist has asked for a lower transfer height. If you do not need the floor-low deck, start with the Drive Delta 1000. Another Drive low-height full-electric option is the Drive 15005LP. If the person is near or over 450 lbs, ask us about the Drive 15300LW 42-inch bariatric bed instead of stretching this frame.
- Home care, where the bed has to work in a bedroom and sit lower for transfers
- Hospital or nursing-home use when a portable full-electric low frame is enough
- Anyone who needs electric head, foot, and height adjustment from one hand control
What you get
The Drive Delta 15235 is a full-electric low bed. The hand control positions the head, the foot, and the overall height. Drive fits a self-contained motor on the foot section. That motor comes pre-installed, and it can be fitted or removed with the person still in the bed.
Drive also lists a hi/lo crank on top of the footboard so a caregiver can change height without kneeling when the bed is in the low position. Everyday positioning is still from the hand control. In a power cut, the 9V battery in the hand control lowers the head and foot; it does not replace the hi/lo crank for height.
- Large, easy hand control for the person in the bed and for the caregiver
- Channel frame and zinc-coated spring deck
- High-impact wood-grain head and foot panels that resist cracks and scratches
- A taller headboard than footboard, so the bed sits more naturally in a home
- Head and foot boards that interchange with most Drive bed ends
- Colour-coded springs and labels so side rails go on the right way
- UL-approved motor
- Bed, side rails, and mattress safety-tested by SGS, and built to satisfy FDA entrapment guidelines
- A 9V battery in the hand control that can lower the head and foot nine times if the power goes out
- Casters that move from the standard position to the low-bed position
- Bed ships in two cartons
The high/low shaft stays with the bed after the first install, so it is not left behind on a later move. The transition box on the foot section is what lets a technician change the rotation of that shaft when ends are swapped.

Choose Side Rails, Choose Mattress, and Delivery Options
Use the selectors to set rails, mattress, and how the bed arrives. Rails are chosen with no extra shown. A mattress is chosen from Choose Mattress. Delivery is chosen from Delivery Options.
Choose Side Rails
Pick Half Rails or Full Rails. Labels and colour-coded springs are there so the rails are installed in the safe position. Drive's matching rail parts are the half rail 15201BV and the full rail 15001ABV; our selector uses the shorter names Half Rails and Full Rails.
Choose Mattress
The sleep deck is 36 inches by 80 inches, so you want a hospital-bed mattress in that size. Choose Mattress lists:
- Therapeutic Medical Mattress
- Gravity 7 Mattress Long Term Care
- Gravity 8 Mattress Long Term Care
- Gravity 9 Mattress Long Term Care
- Blake Infusion Gel Mattress
- Med Aire 8 Inch Alternating Pressure Mattress System
The first listed surface is the Therapeutic Medical Mattress. If you are not sure which surface you need, call (905) 451-7743. Your therapist can tell us if the person needs a foam surface or an alternating-pressure system.

Funding help for a hospital bed in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. Depending on the person, other programs may help, including ODSP, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, hardship funding programs, and community support programs.
Westin Healthcare works with these funding programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page and we will check which programs fit your situation before any paperwork starts. The funding page lists the programs we work with.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this bed across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a bed first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased beds are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Hospital beds are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the bed is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a hospital bed before I buy?
Yes. If you only need the bed for a recovery, or you want to live with a full-electric bed before you buy, rent first. Hospital bed rentals start from $150 a month. See current packages and rates on hospital bed rentals in Brampton.
Rental packages include side rails and a therapeutic medical mattress. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term is one month.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the bed needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Drive manufacturer warranty
Drive's standard warranty for the original purchaser is 5 years on the motor and hand control, limited lifetime on welds and frame, and 1 year on all other parts and components. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does OHIP cover hospital beds?
No. Hospital beds in Ontario are not covered by OHIP. Depending on the person, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, or a community support program may still help. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.
Does ADP cover hospital beds in Ontario?
No. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. The funding page lists the programs Westin Healthcare works with, including March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, and community support programs.
What is the difference between a full-electric and a semi-electric hospital bed?
The Drive Delta 15235 is full electric. The hand control adjusts the head, the foot, and the height of the bed. A semi-electric bed usually moves the head and foot with a motor and leaves height to a crank. Drive also lists a top-mounted hi/lo crank on this low model so a caregiver is not kneeling when the deck is at 9.25 inches.
How is the Delta 15235 different from the Drive Delta 1000?
Both are Drive Delta Ultra-Light 1000 full-electric beds with the same 450 lb capacity and the same motor and weld warranty. The 15235 is the floor-lowering sibling. Drive lists its deck height as 9.25 inches to 23 inches, and a 175 lb frame. The standard-height Delta 1000 is the better match if you do not need that low transfer height.
What mattress fits the Drive Delta 15235?
The sleep deck is 36 inches wide by 80 inches long, so you want a hospital-bed mattress in that size. Choose Mattress starts with the Therapeutic Medical Mattress and also lists Gravity 7, Gravity 8, Gravity 9, the Blake Infusion Gel Mattress, and the Med Aire 8 Inch Alternating Pressure Mattress System. Ask your therapist before you pick an alternating-pressure surface.
Can I rent a hospital bed before buying?
Yes. Westin Healthcare rents full-electric hospital beds with side rails and a therapeutic mattress. See current packages and rates on the hospital bed rentals page. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program so we can apply the program rules to this bed.
How fast can a hospital bed be delivered in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased beds across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the hospital bed rental service, not automatically to a purchased bed.
What is included with this Delta 15235?
You get the Drive Delta 15235 full-electric low bed frame with headboard and footboard. Choose Side Rails sets Half Rails or Full Rails. Choose Mattress sets the surface; the first listed option is the Therapeutic Medical Mattress. An 84 inch extension is a separate kit, not part of the frame.
What is the weight capacity of the Delta 15235?
Drive lists a weight capacity of 450 lbs for SKU 15235. If the person is near that limit, or you need a wider sleep deck, ask us about a bariatric hospital bed instead of stretching this frame.
What happens if the power goes out?
A 9V battery in the hand control can lower the head and foot sections up to nine times during an outage. That backup is for those two sections, not a second motor for everyday use. Drive also lists a hi/lo crank on top of the footboard on this low model so height can still be changed without kneeling. Keep a spare 9V battery in the room.
What is the warranty on the Drive Delta 15235?
For the original purchaser, Drive covers the motor and hand control for 5 years, welds and frame for a limited lifetime, and all other parts and components for 1 year. Those terms are printed on Drive's 15235 sheet. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.
Can this bed be made longer than 80 inches?
Yes. Drive's 15030EXTKIT extends the 15235 from 80 inches to 84 inches. It is a separate kit, not part of the frame. Ask us if the person needs the extra length before we book delivery.
