Description
The Drive Delta 1000 hospital bed is Drive Medical's Delta Ultra-Light 1000 full-electric frame, SKU 15033. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is also used in hospitals and nursing homes when a portable hospital-style bed is enough.
Full electric means the hand control moves the head section, the foot section, and the height of the bed. Drive rates the 15033 at 450 lbs (204 kg). The frame weighs 169 lbs (77 kg). A 9V battery in the hand control can lower the head and foot nine times if the power goes out.
Who this bed is for
This bed is for a person who needs a hospital bed for home, and for the family member who will help them in and out of it. The hand control raises and lowers the head, the foot, and the overall height, so a caregiver can set a safer working height for linen changes and transfers.
Families usually call us when someone is coming home from hospital, when a regular bed has become hard to get in and out of, or when care will last more than a short visit. If you need the sleep deck closer to the floor, see the Drive Delta 15235 hi-low bed. If the person is near or over 450 lbs, ask us about the Drive 15300LW 42-inch bariatric bed instead of stretching this frame. Start on our hospital beds in Brampton page or call (905) 451-7743 and we will talk it through.
- Home care, where the bed has to look and work in a bedroom, not a ward
- Hospital or nursing-home use, when a portable full-electric frame is enough
- Anyone who needs electric head, foot, and height adjustment from one hand control
What you get with this full-electric bed
The motor sits in the foot area as a self-contained unit. That is why the bed stays relatively light at 169 lbs (77 kg), and why the motor can be fitted or removed with the person still in the bed, without tools. Drive prints that the foot section weighs 50% less than a conventional foot section, which is what makes a home delivery more manageable for our team.
- Large, easy hand control for the person in the bed and for the caregiver
- Channel frame and zinc-coated spring deck for strength without extra bulk
- High-impact composite head and foot panels that resist cracks and scratches
- A taller headboard than footboard, so the bed sits more naturally in a home
- Wood-grain panels that are break and scratch resistant
- Head and foot boards that interchange with most Drive bed ends
- Colour-coded springs and labels so side rails go on the right way
- UL-approved motor
- Bed, side rails, and mattress safety-tested by SGS, and built to satisfy FDA entrapment guidelines
- A 9V battery in the hand control that can lower the head and foot nine times if the power goes out
The high-low shaft stays with the bed after the first install, so it is not left behind on a later move. The transition box on the foot section is what lets a technician change the rotation of that shaft when ends are swapped. The bed ships in two cartons.
Drive Delta 1000 specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU 15033, the Drive Delta Ultra-Light 1000 full-electric frame. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Drive's current shop sheet rates the 15033 at 450 lbs (204 kg), including the occupant, with a 169 lb (77 kg) frame and an 182 lb (83 kg) carton shipping weight. Drive's 15033 owner manual prints a bed height of 15.5 inches to 21.5 inches with the casters on, and calls for an 80 inch mattress. The sleep deck we list is 36 inches wide by 80 inches long. Overall size on our spec sheet is 36 inches wide by 88 inches long.
Need the bed longer than 80 inches? Ask us about the Drive bed extension kit 15030EXTKIT, which Drive prints as adding 4 inches, from 80 inches to 84 inches.
Warranty on Drive's current 15033 sheet, for the original purchaser, is 5 years on the motor and hand control, limited lifetime on welds and frame, and 1 year on all other parts and components.
Rails, mattress, and the package
Westin's usual package is the 15033 frame, Drive half-length bed rails (15201BV), and a therapeutic mattress sized to the 36 inch by 80 inch deck. Ask us for Drive telescoping full-length rails (15001ABV) if you want more rail along the side. Labels and colour-coded springs are there so the rails are installed in the safe position.
A mattress made for a hospital bed is the right fit. Surfaces we already sell in this size include the Drive Therapeutic Medical Mattress 15019, Gravity 7, Gravity 8 (15870), Gravity 9, the Domus 4 low air loss alternating-pressure mattress, the Drive Innerspring 15006, and the Serene Air system. If you are not sure which surface you need, call us or browse medical mattresses in Brampton. Your therapist can tell us if the person needs a foam surface or an alternating-pressure system.
Which Drive hospital bed fits
Stay with the Drive Delta 1000 when a standard-height full-electric homecare frame at 450 lbs is enough. Choose a sibling when the room or the person needs something else:
- Drive Delta 15235: the floor-lowering Ultra-Light 1000, same family motor and hand control, with a deck that lowers to 9.25 inches.
- Drive 15005LP: another Drive low-height full-electric option.
- Drive 15300LW: the 42 inch bariatric frame when the load is near or over 450 lbs.
Drive also sells a Delta Pro homecare system. That is a different frame from the 15033. Ask us if the care team named Delta Pro rather than Delta 1000.
Funding help for a hospital bed in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. Depending on the person, other programs may help, including March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, and community support programs.
Westin Healthcare works with these funding programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page and we will check which programs fit your situation before any paperwork starts. The funding page lists the programs we work with.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this bed across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a bed first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased beds are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Hospital beds are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the bed is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a hospital bed before I buy?
Yes. If you only need the bed for a recovery, or you want to live with a full-electric bed before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on hospital bed rentals in Brampton.
Rental packages include side rails and a therapeutic medical mattress. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term is one month.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.

Service, repairs, and warranty

Frequently asked questions
Does OHIP cover hospital beds?
No. Hospital beds in Ontario are not covered by OHIP. Depending on the person, other programs may still help. Call Westin Healthcare and we will tell you which path fits before anyone files paperwork.
Can I get funding help for a hospital bed in Ontario?
Funding routes exist for a hospital bed in Ontario and eligibility depends on the person and the assessment. Call Westin Healthcare first and we will check the programs that apply before any forms are filed.
Does ADP cover hospital beds in Ontario?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not list hospital beds among funded mobility aids. Other programs may still help, depending on the person. The funding page lists the programs Westin Healthcare works with.
What is the difference between a full-electric and a semi-electric hospital bed?
The Drive Delta 1000 is full electric. The hand control adjusts the head, the foot, and the height of the bed. That high-low function is also what separates a hospital bed from a regular adjustable bed, which only moves the back and legs. A semi-electric bed usually leaves height to a crank. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will walk through the difference for your home.
What mattress fits the Drive Delta 1000?
The Drive Delta 1000 sleep deck is 36 inches wide by 80 inches long, so you want a hospital-bed mattress in that size. Westin's usual package includes the Drive Therapeutic Medical Mattress 15019. We also sell Gravity 7, 8, and 9 long-term-care mattresses, a Drive innerspring, the Domus 4 low air loss alternating-pressure mattress, and the Serene Air system. See medical mattresses or ask your therapist before you pick an alternating-pressure surface.
Can I rent a hospital bed before buying?
Yes. Westin Healthcare rents full-electric hospital beds with side rails and a therapeutic mattress. Current rental rates are on the hospital bed rentals page. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program. Call us so we apply the program rules to this bed.
How fast can a hospital bed be delivered in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased beds across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. For rentals, the rental page states same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.
What is included with this Delta 1000 package?
Westin's usual Drive Delta 1000 package is the full-electric bed frame (SKU 15033), half-length side rails, and a therapeutic mattress. Full-length rails and other mattresses are quoted if you need them. An 84 inch extension is a separate kit, not part of the package.
What is the weight capacity of the Delta 1000?
The Drive Delta 1000 has a weight capacity of 450 lbs (204 kg). Drive's 15033 owner manual states that figure as 450 lbs evenly distributed. If the person is near that limit, or you need a wider sleep deck, ask us about a bariatric or heavy-duty hospital bed instead of stretching this frame.
What happens if the power goes out?
A 9V battery in the hand control of the Drive Delta 1000 can lower the head and foot sections up to nine times during an outage. You do not need a crank for those lowers. The battery is a backup for positioning, not a second motor for everyday use. Keep a spare 9V battery in the room.
What is the warranty on the Drive Delta 1000?
For the original purchaser, Drive's current 15033 sheet covers the motor and hand control for 5 years, welds and frame for a limited lifetime, and all other parts and components for 1 year. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work and can send a technician to the home. Details are on our service and repairs page.
