Description
The Drive SoLite Pro 15006LP is Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare's low full-electric profiling homecare bed, sold as the Solite Pro Homecare Bed Package. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The hand control moves the backrest, the knee and leg section, the height of the bed, auto-contour, and a foot-down tilt.
Drive lists this Low SKU with a mattress-platform height of 11.6 inches to 28.2 inches and a maximum patient weight of 421 lbs. The bed splits into four sections that nest on a built-in transport stand, and each section weighs less than 55 lbs. This is the Solite Pro Low, not the taller standard Solite Pro, and not the floor-low Drive Delta 15235.
Who this bed is for
This bed is for a person who needs a hospital-style bed at home and wants a lower transfer height than a standard homecare frame, without going all the way to a floor-low deck. The 11.6 to 28.2 inch range sits low enough for many bedroom transfers and still rises so a caregiver is not working at floor level when changing linen.
Families usually call us when someone is coming home from hospital, when a regular bed has become hard to get in and out of, or when the bed has to come apart to go up stairs or live in a spare room later. If you need the sleep deck closer to the floor than 11.6 inches, see the Drive Delta 15235 hi-low bed. If you want a simpler Drive low-height spring-deck frame, ask about the Drive 15005LP. If you do not need the low deck or the four-section nest, start with the Drive Delta 1000. If the person is near or over 421 lbs, ask us about a bariatric hospital bed instead of stretching this frame.
- Home care, where the bed has to look at home in a bedroom and still profile with a hand control
- Nursing-home or rehab use when a portable full-electric profiling frame is enough
- Anyone who needs the bed to come apart into four lighter sections for a move or for storage
What you get
The Drive SoLite Pro 15006LP is a full-electric four-section profiling bed. The handset moves the auto-regressing backrest, the knee break, the leg section, the overall height, auto-contour (backrest and knee together), and a 0 to 12 degree foot-down tilt. The standard handset includes a lockout with a key so a function can be turned off. Drive ships the standard handset without head-down tilt; that function is a different handset if a clinician asks for it.
Drive's 15006LP carton is the Low frame: two covered bed ends, the head deck, the foot deck, four braked castors, the handset, and the transport stand. Westin's package on this page also includes the Drive Elland Standard Grab Handle and the Drive Gravity 7 mattress as the included selector choices. Use the selectors below if you need a different rail or surface.
- Handset for backrest, knee, height, auto-contour, and foot-down tilt, with lockout
- Auto-regressing backrest, which Drive lists to reduce pinching in the sacral area
- Integral tool-free leg extension (Drive brochure: 80 to 84 inches)
- Four braked castors. The bed is not for transporting a person; the wheels are for moving the empty frame in the room
- Powder-coated steel ends with a covered, domestic look
- Built-in transport stand so the four sections nest for storage or a later move
- Each section under 55 lbs for assembly
- Rail accessories that Drive lists as meeting FDA and ASTM entrapment guidelines
This SKU does not have battery backup. If the power goes out, the bed stays in the last position. Lowering a raised backrest or leg section is a two-person job that follows Drive's pin-out steps in the owner manual.
Drive SoLite Pro 15006LP specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU 15006LP, the Drive Solite Pro Low Homecare Bed. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's North American owner manual for this SKU lists a mattress-platform height of 11.6 inches to 28.2 inches, a maximum patient weight of 421 lbs, and a product weight of 200.6 lbs on the transport stand.
The mattress platform is 35.6 inches wide by 79.1 inches long, and the integral extension takes the platform to 85.6 inches. Drive's brochure describes that extension as 80 to 84 inches. A 36 by 80 inch hospital-bed mattress is the size we fit on this frame. Overall length is 87.8 inches. Overall width is printed as 38.0 inches and 39.96 inches (without and with the rail-channel width).
Backrest travel is 72 degrees. Knee travel is 26 degrees. Leg-section travel is 21 degrees. Foot-down tilt is 0 to 12 degrees. Under-bed clearance to the actuator is 3.9 inches. The bed runs on a regular 120 volt household outlet (60 Hz, 1.7 A max) and is rated IPX4 splash resistant.
Warranty for the original purchaser, printed in Drive's North American owner manual, is 10 years on the frame, 5 years on the mechanical parts (1 year parts and labour, then 4 years parts only), and 2 years on the electrical system.
CHOOSE SIDE RAILS and CHOOSE MATTRESS
Use the selectors to set rails and mattress. Rails are chosen with CHOOSE SIDE RAILS. A mattress is chosen from CHOOSE MATTRESS. Drive's 15006LP frame does not lock one rail or one mattress in the carton; the included choices on this Westin package are named below.
CHOOSE SIDE RAILS
Pick one:
- ELLAND SHORT HEIGHT GRAB HANDLE
- DRIVE ELLAND STANDARD GRAB HANDLE
- [15006LEXRAIL] DRIVE SOLITE GRANGE TELESCOPIC SIDE RAILS
DRIVE ELLAND STANDARD GRAB HANDLE is the included choice. The short handle is the lower grab handle (Drive item 15006LSHRTRAIL). The Grange option is Drive's telescopic full-length side rail (item 15006LEXRAIL). Grab handles help a person sit up or transfer; they are not the same as a full-length rail. If you are not sure which style the therapist asked for, call (905) 451-7743 before you order.
CHOOSE MATTRESS
The platform takes a 36 by 80 inch hospital-bed mattress. CHOOSE MATTRESS lists:
- Drive Gravity 7 mattress, 80"- 15770
- GRAVITY 8 DELUXE LONG TERM CARE PRESSURE REDISTRIBUTION MATTRESS
- GRAVITY 9 PREMIUM LONG TERM CARE PRESSURE REDISTRIBUTION MATTRESS
- DOMUS 4 LOW AIR LOSS ALTERNATING PRESSURE MATTRESS
Drive Gravity 7 mattress, 80"- 15770 is the included surface. Drive lists that mattress at 36 by 80 by 6 inches. If the person is near the bed's 421 lb limit, ask us before you keep Gravity 7; Drive rates that mattress lower than the frame. A Domus 4 is an alternating-pressure surface. Drive says a dynamic mattress must not be used with the platform extended. If you are not sure which surface you need, call (905) 451-7743. Your therapist can tell us if the person needs a foam surface or an alternating-pressure system.
Funding help for a hospital bed in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. Depending on the person, other programs may help, including ODSP, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, hardship funding programs, and community support programs.
Westin Healthcare works with these funding programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page and we will check which programs fit your situation before any paperwork starts. The funding page lists the programs we work with.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this bed across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a bed first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased beds are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Hospital beds are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the bed is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a hospital bed before I buy?
Yes. If you only need the bed for a recovery, or you want to live with a full-electric bed before you buy, rent first. Hospital bed rentals start from $150 a month. See current packages and rates on hospital bed rentals in Brampton.
Rental packages include side rails and a therapeutic medical mattress. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term is one month.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the bed needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Drive manufacturer warranty
Drive's North American owner manual for the Solite Pro Low lists 10 years on the frame, 5 years on the mechanical parts (1 year parts and labour, then 4 years parts only), and 2 years on the electrical system for the original purchaser. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does OHIP cover hospital beds?
No. Hospital beds in Ontario are not covered by OHIP. Depending on the person, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, or a community support program may still help. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.
Does ADP cover hospital beds in Ontario?
No. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. The funding page lists the programs Westin Healthcare works with, including March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, and community support programs.
What is the difference between a full-electric and a semi-electric hospital bed?
The Drive SoLite Pro 15006LP is full electric. The handset adjusts the backrest, the knee and leg section, the height of the bed, auto-contour, and a foot-down tilt. A semi-electric bed usually moves the head and foot with a motor and leaves height to a crank.
How is the SoLite Pro different from the Drive Delta 1000?
Both are full-electric Drive beds for home. The SoLite Pro Low is a four-section profiling frame with covered ends, a transport stand, and a deck that sits between 11.6 and 28.2 inches. The Drive Delta 1000 is the standard-height channel-frame package. If you need a deck lower than 11.6 inches, see the Drive Delta 15235, which lowers to 9.25 inches.
What mattress fits the Drive SoLite Pro?
The platform is 35.6 inches by 79.1 inches, so you want a 36 by 80 inch hospital-bed mattress. CHOOSE MATTRESS starts with Drive Gravity 7 mattress, 80"- 15770 and also lists Gravity 8, Gravity 9, and the Domus 4 Low Air Loss Alternating Pressure Mattress. Ask your therapist before you pick an alternating-pressure surface, and do not run a dynamic mattress with the platform extended.
Can I rent a hospital bed before buying?
Yes. Westin Healthcare rents full-electric hospital beds with side rails and a therapeutic mattress. See current packages and rates on the hospital bed rentals page. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program so we can apply the program rules to this bed.
How fast can a hospital bed be delivered in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased beds across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the hospital bed rental service, not automatically to a purchased bed.
What is included with this SoLite Pro?
You get the Drive SoLite Pro Low 15006LP full-electric frame with covered ends, four braked castors, the handset, and the transport stand. CHOOSE SIDE RAILS starts with DRIVE ELLAND STANDARD GRAB HANDLE included; you can pick ELLAND SHORT HEIGHT GRAB HANDLE or the Grange telescopic rails instead. CHOOSE MATTRESS starts with Drive Gravity 7 mattress, 80"- 15770 included.
What is the weight capacity of the SoLite Pro?
Drive's North American owner manual lists a maximum patient weight of 421 lbs for SKU 15006LP. If the person is near that limit, or you need a wider sleep deck, ask us about a bariatric hospital bed instead of stretching this frame.
What happens if the power goes out?
This bed does not have battery backup. The last position holds until power returns. If a raised backrest or leg section has to come down during an outage, two people support the section and follow Drive's pin-out steps in the owner manual. Keep the lockout key where a caregiver can find it.
What is the warranty on the Drive SoLite Pro?
For the original purchaser, Drive's North American owner manual covers the frame for 10 years, the mechanical parts for 5 years (1 year parts and labour, then 4 years parts only), and the electrical system for 2 years. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.
Can this bed be taken apart or made longer than 80 inches?
Yes on both. The frame splits into four sections that nest on the included transport stand, and each section is under 55 lbs. The integral tool-free extension takes the platform from 79.1 inches to 85.6 inches (Drive's brochure says 80 to 84 inches). Ask us if the person needs the extra length before we book delivery, and do not use a dynamic mattress with the platform extended.
