Description
The Med Aire Assure 14530 is Drive Medical's hybrid replacement: 5-inch air cells over a 3-inch foam base. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Overall height is 8 inches, not 10. It sits between the Med Aire 5 overlay and the full 8-inch Med Aire 14027.
Drive lists a 350 lb weight capacity and a 36-inch by 80-inch by 8-inch surface. The 14530P analog control unit is rated 8 litres per minute on a 10-minute cycle, with a 30 to 60 mmHg pressure range on the owner manual. The foam base stays under the person if the power goes out.
Who this mattress is for
This mattress is for a person on a 36-inch hospital bed who needs a full replacement, wants alternating pressure and low air loss, and wants foam under the cells so the surface does not go flat in an outage. Drive designed the 14530 to prevent, treat and heal pressure ulcers in the home or long-term care setting. The clinician who knows the person's skin still decides if this class is right.
If you can keep the current mattress and only need a topper, start with the Med Aire 5 overlay. If you want a full 8 inches of air and no foam, use the Med Aire 14027. If you want a foam edge as well as a foam base, see the PreserveTech Med-Aire Edge.
- Home care on a 36-inch by 80-inch hospital bed
- A therapist request for alternating pressure and low air loss with power-outage foam
- Anyone within Drive's 350 lb rating who wants a simple analog 10-minute pump
Construction and how it works
This is a mattress replacement, not an overlay. Seventeen 5-inch cells sit on a 3-inch foam base. Alternating pressure moves the load on a 10-minute cycle. Low air loss vents a little air for microclimate. Head-end cells stay more static (pillow feature).
When the pump stops, the foam base is still there. That is the outage story on this SKU. It is not cell-on-cell like the Med Aire Plus. The 14530P analog unit hangs on the footboard, alarms with a light and a sound if pressure is low, and can hold a static surface for transfers.
The quilted nylon cover is removable, fluid-resistant, low-shear, and vapour-permeable. Cells come off for service. A CPR valve dumps the air. Tubing uses EZ Lock / Quick Release.

Warranty for the original purchaser is 1 year on the control unit and mattress.

Funding help for a therapeutic mattress in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds or mattresses, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), hardship funding programs, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this mattress across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, place it on the bed, connect the control unit, and show you the pump before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mattress first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Drive manufacturer warranty

Frequently asked questions
Is the Assure a foam mattress or an air mattress?
Both. Five-inch air cells do the alternating pressure and low air loss. A 3-inch foam base sits under those cells. Overall height is 8 inches. It is a hybrid replacement, not a foam-only Gravity mattress and not a full 8-inch air cell like the 14027.
How is it different from the Med Aire 5 overlay?
The overlay goes on top of a mattress you already have. The Assure replaces the mattress. The Assure also has the 3-inch foam base for outages. Both use a 10-minute analog cycle and a 350 lb rating.
How do I clean the cover?
The quilted nylon cover is removable, fluid-resistant, and vapour-permeable. Follow Drive's user manual for wipe-down. Do not immerse the control unit. Drive lists a 14530C replacement cover.
What is the weight rating?
Drive lists 350 lbs. Near that limit, move to a Med Aire Plus (450 lbs) or a bariatric Plus width.
What size bed does it fit?
36 inches by 80 inches by 8 inches. It is not 10 inches high. It is not a bariatric width.
How loud is the pump?
Drive does not print a decibel rating on the 14530 sheet. The analog unit hangs on the footboard. If you need a printed 45 dB figure, that is on the PreserveTech Med-Aire Edge.
What happens if the power goes out?
The 3-inch foam base stays under the person. The air cells go soft. That is different from Med Aire Plus cell-on-cell, which holds a lower air chamber for up to 24 hours.
What is the warranty?
1 year on the control unit and mattress for the original purchaser. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
Does funding cover this mattress in Ontario?
Some Ontario routes can help with a therapeutic support surface. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Can I rent a powered mattress before I buy?
Westin Healthcare rents hospital-bed packages that include a therapeutic mattress. See current packages on the hospital bed rentals page. Ask us whether this Assure system can be added to a rental.
