Description

The Drive 13244 is Drive Medical's bariatric battery-powered floor lift. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Drive's current sheet prints a 600 lb weight capacity and an extra-wide four-point cradle that rotates 360 degrees.

The boom is electric. The legs are opened with a padded shifter handle and lock in the open position. The battery charges on the lift from a wall outlet, and the lift will not run while it is plugged in. Drive's jumbo actuator has an emergency button that switches to manual mode so the person can be lowered.

Who it is for

This lift is for a person who needs a full-body transfer and whose weight is inside Drive's 600 lb capacity, when a wide four-point cradle is the bar the therapist asked for. If you want Drive's premium 600 lb lift with a six-point spring-clip cradle, see the Drive Gravis with manual base or the Drive Gravis with power base. If 450 lb is enough, the Drive 13240 is the lighter home-care lift.

  • Bariatric home-care transfers inside 600 lb
  • Transfers that need a wide, rotating four-point hook-up
  • Caregivers who want electric lifting plus Drive's manual emergency lower

How it lifts

The 13244 is an electric floor lift, not a transport device. Drive's owner manual says to keep the person centred, to leave the casters unlocked while lifting so the lift can find its centre, and to use a sling recommended by the person's physician. Spread the base to the widest position before you lift. The hand control raises and lowers the boom. A red emergency button and a mechanical quick-release on the actuator are the backups if the electrics fail.

A sling is not in the carton. Ask us for a Drive sling that fits this four-point cradle and stays inside 600 lb, or browse our full-body slings.

Drive 13244 specifications

These figures are for Westin SKU 13244. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current sheet prints a 600 lb weight capacity, a boom height of 32 inches to 75.5 inches, a 2 inch base clearance, a 132 lb lift, a 148 lb carton, 3 inch front casters, 4 inch rear casters, and a TiMotion motor.

Warranty for the original purchaser is a limited lifetime on the frame and 1 year on components and electrical parts.

Slings and spreader bar

Drive fits an extra-wide coated cradle with 360 degree rotation and a four-point hook-up. The 2015 owner manual talks about standard or commode slings, hanging strips, and chains. Use a sling the physician named and that Drive accepts on this bar. We will not claim a sling from another brand unless Drive names it. Toileting transfers start with our toileting slings.

Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Floor patient lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?

Yes. If you only need the lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a floor lift before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on patient lift rentals in Brampton.

Rental packages include an electric floor lift and a sling. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term on the rentals page is one week.

If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Drive manufacturer warranty

Drive's current 13244 sheet covers the original purchaser with a limited lifetime on the frame and 1 year on components and electrical parts. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Does ADP cover patient lifts in Ontario?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover patient lifts. Other funding routes may still help, depending on the person and the assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.

What is the safe working load of the Drive 13244?

Drive prints 600 lbs / 272 kg. Stay inside that number for the person plus anything in the sling. Match the sling's own capacity to the same number.

Does a sling come with the 13244?

No. Drive ships the lift, four-point cradle, battery, and hand control. The sling is sold separately.

How is the 13244 different from the Drive Gravis?

Both are 600 lb Drive lifts. The 13244 uses an extra-wide four-point rotating cradle and a padded shifter for the legs. The Gravis uses Drive's six-point spring-clip cradle and the Levantar/Gravis electronics package.

What happens if the battery runs low?

Drive sounds a beep at 50 percent. Charge from a wall outlet. The lift will not run while it is charging. Drive's manual says the person cannot be lowered electrically if the battery is dead, so use the mechanical emergency lower on the actuator.

Can I rent a patient lift before buying?

Yes. See current packages and rates on the patient lift rentals page. Ask us whether the rental fleet can cover a 600 lb need before you book.

How fast can this lift be delivered in the GTA?

Purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service.

What is included with the Drive 13244?

You get the Drive 13244 with the extra-wide four-point cradle, battery, hand control, and padded base handle. A sling is not included. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets up across Brampton and the GTA.

What is the warranty on the Drive 13244?

Drive covers the frame for a limited lifetime and the electrical parts and other components for 1 year. Those terms are printed on Drive's 13244 sheet.

Should the casters be locked while lifting?

No. Drive's owner manual says to leave the casters unlocked while lifting so the lift can stabilize. Lock them when the person is being seated on the next surface.
