Description

The Drive Trapeze Bar 13009TRAPBV is a 250 lb clamp-on overhead handle. It is a bed accessory. It bolts to a metal hospital-bed headboard with the clamps in the carton. It does not stand on the floor by itself. Drive builds it from heavy-gauge two-piece square steel tubing with a brown-vein finish. Westin Healthcare sells it from Brampton and delivers it across the Greater Toronto Area, on its own or with a hospital-bed setup.

Drive's owner manual for this trapeze bar says it can assist a person weighing up to 250 lb (113 kg), that it is designed to provide support when the person repositions in bed, and that it is not designed to support the total body weight of an individual. Use it for assistance only. If you need a free-standing 650 lb frame, see the Drive 13049SV. If you need 1000 lb, see the Drive 13039SV.

Who it is for

This bar is for a person within 250 lb who can pull with their arms and whose bed has a metal frame headboard, or who will use Drive's matching 13017BV floor base on a home-style bed. It is the everyday accessory on a standard homecare hospital bed. It is not the right product for a decorative wood headboard by itself, and it is not a Hoyer lift.

  • A metal-frame hospital bed such as the Drive Delta 1000 or the Drive 15005LP
  • Other major-brand metal headboards, which is as far as Drive names fit
  • A home-style bed only when the Drive 13017BV trapeze base is used with it (that base is also rated 250 lb)

How it lifts

It does not lift the person with a motor or a sling. Clamps lock onto the metal headboard. A two-piece square steel upright and boom hold a chain and a triangle handle over the mattress. Drive says height, length, and horizontal position adjust without tools. The person reaches up, holds the handle, and uses their arms to roll, sit up, or shift.

Drive's owner manual says: install the clamps on either the bed headboard or a trapeze base, tighten firmly, then set height. Before the first use, tighten the clamps again. The bar travels with the headboard, so it stays lined up when the bed height changes.

Drive Trapeze Bar 13009TRAPBV specifications

These figures are for Westin SKU 13009TRAPBV, Drive item 13009TRAPBV (trapeze bar, clamp, brown vein). The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current shop sheet prints:

  • Weight capacity: 250 lb
  • Warranty: limited lifetime
  • Construction: heavy-gauge two-piece square steel tubing
  • Finish: brown vein
  • Install: tool-free
  • Adjust: height, length, and horizontal position
  • Mounting: metal frame headboards; fits most major manufacturers

Drive does not print boom length, overall height, or a named list of bed models on the current sheet. Drive's matching floor base is item 13017BV: "For use when metal headboards are not available" and "For use with home-style beds," also 250 lb, also limited lifetime. Drive does not list wooden decorative headboards as a direct clamp surface.

Which bed frames this fits

Drive's official fit line is: mounts easily to metal frame headboards and fits most major manufacturers. Drive does not publish a model-by-model list. On Westin's hospital-bed pages, the usual metal-frame decks are the Drive Delta 1000, the Drive 15005LP, and the Drive bariatric LW frames. Confirm the headboard is metal and that the clamps can close on it before you order.

It does not turn a wood or upholstered consumer headboard into a clamp surface. For a home-style bed without a metal headboard, Drive points you to the 13017BV trapeze base, not to a guess at the headboard. If the person is above 250 lb, do not use this bar. Use a free-standing 13049SV or 13039SV instead.

Slings and spreader bar

This product has no spreader bar and does not use a patient-lift sling. The person holds a triangle handle on a chain. If the care plan needs a full-body transfer in a sling, this bar is the wrong device. Ask us about a floor lift and the matching sling style from our universal slings, full-body slings, or divided-leg slings.

Funding help for a trapeze in Ontario

Funding routes exist for trapezes in Ontario and eligibility depends on the situation and assessment. Westin Healthcare's staff work with funding programs every week and will point you to the right route. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin Healthcare can send this trapeze bar with a hospital-bed delivery across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, or deliver it on its own and show you the clamps. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see it first. Call (905) 451-7743 to book a drop-off.

This is a smaller accessory. Drive notes that it can ship UPS. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a bed. If it travels with a hospital bed, the bed is oversized and the shipping policy for White-Glove Delivery applies. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Need a patient lift instead?

This trapeze bar is sold as a bed accessory. It is not listed on our rentals hub. If you need a Hoyer-style patient lift for a full transfer, Westin rents electric patient lifts with a sling. See current packages on the rentals hub or call (905) 451-7743. Current rates are on the rentals page.

Service and warranty

When something on the trapeze needs work, you call the shop that sold it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.

Drive manufacturer warranty

Drive's current 13009TRAPBV sheet and owner manual state a lifetime limited warranty for the original consumer purchaser: free of defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover owner misuse, negligence, or normal wear and tear. It does not extend to non-durable components such as rubber accessories, casters, and grips. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Is this a Hoyer lift?

No. There is no motor, no sling, and no spreader bar. The person pulls on a triangle handle.
