Description
The Switch-It VersaGuide is a fully proportional compact joystick that Sunrise mounts almost anywhere on a power wheelchair. SmartJacks on the underside accept a proximity sensor or a mechanical switch without a special adapter. This control is configured with the power wheelchair through the seating clinic and the ADP process. Westin Healthcare quotes it on a Quickie or Zippie order for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Sunrise prints 240 g of activating force, 22 degrees of travel before activation, and a 2.59 by 2.14 by 5 inch housing. It is the standard-force compact stick. The EZ sibling is the light-force version of the same body.
What this control does
The VersaGuide gives proportional forward, reverse, left, and right. Flex gooseneck proximity sensors plug into the SmartJacks for mode and on/off. Mount it on an armrest, at midline, in a modified SpaceDisk, on a BDN3 chin harness, or on a swing-away chin boom. An Active Controls mount is also listed.
Electronics are Penny and Giles R-Net with an Omni display, or Quantum Q-Logic with an Enhanced Display. Not Invacare. Extra mode inputs include egg, MicroLite, or Piko switches and fibre-optic systems.
Who it suits
The VersaGuide suits a person who can produce about 240 g at the stick and wants a small body that can sit at the hand, the chin, or the midline. If that force is too high, the VersaGuide EZ is the same shape at 120 g and 12 degrees. If the person wants a tiny metal stick with throw feedback, see the MicroGuide.
