Description
The Switch-It VersaGuide EZ is the light-force version of the compact VersaGuide joystick. Same small body, same SmartJacks, half the activating force. This control is configured with the power wheelchair through the seating clinic and the ADP process. Westin Healthcare quotes it on a Quickie or Zippie order for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Sunrise prints 120 g of force (half of the 240 g VersaGuide), 12 degrees of travel (versus 22), and the same 2.59 by 2.14 by 5 inch housing. The catalog says the shorter throw helps when the person cannot reach a full proportional stroke.
What this control does
The VersaGuide EZ is fully proportional: forward, reverse, left, and right. SmartJacks on the underside auto-adapt to a proximity sensor or a mechanical switch. Flex gooseneck sensors plug straight in. Mounts match the VersaGuide: armrest, midline, SpaceDisk, BDN3 chin harness, swing-away chin boom, Active Controls.
Electronics are R-Net with an Omni display, or Q-Logic with an Enhanced Display. Not Invacare.
Who it suits
The VersaGuide EZ suits a person who likes the compact VersaGuide shape but cannot produce 240 g or a 22 degree throw. If 40 g and a tiny metal stick with throw feedback is the better match, see the MicroGuide. If 240 g is available, the standard VersaGuide is the sibling.
