The Switch-It MicroGuide is a light-touch proportional joystick for a power wheelchair. The farther you push, the faster the chair goes, with a real stick throw so the hand can feel the movement. This control is configured with the power wheelchair through the seating clinic and the ADP process. Westin Healthcare quotes it on a Quickie or Zippie order for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Sunrise prints a metal body, about 40 g of activating force, a 0.625 inch (15.87 mm) housing, and a 3.15 inch (80 mm) height. It is for a person who needs a light force and still wants displacement feedback. It is not the compact VersaGuide, and it is not a switched head array.

What this control does

The MicroGuide is a proportional / analog stick. It gives 360 degrees of direction and the chair's full speed and acceleration range. Mount it on an armrest, at midline, in a SpaceDisk or BulletTray, on a BDN3 chin harness (6 or 8 inch), or on a swing-away chin boom off the headrest. Fibre-optic mode switches can sit in the SpaceDisk for a very small hand.

It talks to Penny and Giles R-Net with an Omni display, or Quantum Q-Logic with an Enhanced Display. It is not compatible with Invacare electronics. Mode inputs include mechanical switches, fibre optic, and a flex proximity sensor (SJX2).

Who it suits

Sunrise says the MicroGuide is ideal when the person needs light-touch sensitivity and still wants to feel the stick move. If the hand can manage a compact stick at 240 g, see the VersaGuide. If 120 g and a shorter throw are enough, see the VersaGuide EZ. If the hand cannot manage a stick, start with a Dual Pro or switched head array.

The MicroGuide is the mini metal stick at about 40 g with a long throw feel. The VersaGuide is the compact 240 g / 22 degree stick with SmartJacks. The VersaGuide EZ cuts that force in half. Pair any of them with a live Quickie Q700 M or Q500 M.

Westin's own team delivers this control with the power wheelchair it is configured on, across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, after the seating clinic has set the order. We bring the chair in, check the stick, and show you drive and mode before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a control on a floor chair first. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
