The Drive 26" Bariatric Sentra EC is Drive Medical's extra-wide Sentra EC chair, sold here as STD26ECDDA (desk arms) or STD26ECDFA (full arms). Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the 26 inch member of Drive's 26 / 28 / 30 inch extra-wide set.

Drive lists a 26 inch by 20 inch seat, a 62 lb chair, a 700 lb weight capacity, and flat-free 8 inch front casters. Rear wheels are steel spoke so the person can self-propel. Dual cross bars and steel gussets carry the extra width and the 700 lb rating.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who needs a 26 inch self-propel seat and a Drive 700 lb rating. Families usually call us when a 24 inch Extra HD seat is too narrow, or when the person is above the 500 lb rating on Drive's Sentra Extra Heavy Duty line.

If 24 inches and 500 lb are enough, start with the Drive Sentra Extra Heavy Duty. If 26 inches is still tight, see the Drive 28 inch Sentra EC. If a caregiver will push and the person does not need to self-propel, see the Drive 22 inch BTR22.

Design and build

The frame is carbon steel with a triple-coated chrome finish. Drive reinforces the weight-bearing points with steel gussets, and it uses dual cross bars, a reinforced side frame, and extra-heavy-duty front forks. Upholstery is reinforced nylon. Armrests are extra-large and padded.

Rear wheels are steel spoke. Front casters are heavy-duty flat-free 8 inch, adjustable in two positions. Push-to-lock wheel locks hold the chair for sitting and standing. Drive lists swing-away footrests as PH-SF and elevating leg rests as PHELR, each with extra-large aluminum foot plates. Ask us to include the rigging you need on the order.

The chair folds. Drive lists 34.5 inches open and 14 inches closed for this 26 inch SKU. Drive's owner manual says the chair is not a car seat.

Drive 26" Bariatric Sentra EC specifications

These figures are for Westin SKU STD26ECDDA, with STD26ECDFA as the full-arm option. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current sheet for the 26 inch extra-wide chair lists a 26 inch by 20 inch seat, a 62 lb chair, a 68 lb carton, a 700 lb capacity, a 19.5 inch seat-to-floor height, an 18 inch back, 34.5 inches open, and 14 inches closed. Length with riggings is 43 inches. Height is 35 inches.

Do not mix these numbers with the 28 or 30 inch Sentra EC chairs, or with the Sentra Extra Heavy Duty 20-24 inch line. Those Extra HD chairs are 500 lb with an 18 inch seat depth.

Warranty for the original purchaser is Drive's Lifetime Limited term: defects in materials and workmanship for the life of that purchaser. It does not cover misuse, negligence, or normal wear, and it does not extend to rubber accessories, casters, and grips.

Funding help for a bariatric wheelchair in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a manual wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, unfold it, set the footrests, and show you the wheel locks and the fold before we leave.

This chair folds. It is still a 62 lb extra-wide steel chair, so plan the path through the home before delivery day. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a shipping quote. Drive manufacturer warranty

Drive's owner manual for the Sentra extra-wide family prints a Lifetime Limited Warranty for the original purchaser: free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of that purchaser. The warranty does not cover misuse, negligence, or normal wear, and it does not extend to non-durable parts such as rubber accessories, casters, and grips. We handle the warranty claim with you. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this wheelchair and a transport chair?

This Sentra EC has large steel spoke rear wheels so the person can push themselves. A transport chair has small rear wheels and is built for a caregiver to push. BTR22 and ATC22 are the companion-push siblings if that is the better fit.

Who pushes the 26 inch Sentra EC?

The person in the chair can self-propel. A companion can also push from the rear handgrips. Wheel locks are push-to-lock. Drive's owner manual asks for care on ramps and says the chair is not a car seat.

Will it fold into a car trunk?

Drive lists 14 inches closed and 43 inches long with the riggings. The frame folds. At 62 lb it is a two-person lift for most trunks. It is not approved as a seat inside a moving vehicle.

How do I measure for a 26 inch seat?

Measure the seated hip width and leave a little room on each side. This seat is 26 inches by 20 inches. If 24 inches is enough, use the Sentra Extra Heavy Duty. If 26 inches is still tight, use the 28 inch Sentra EC.

Will a 26 inch chair fit through the doorway?

Measure the clear opening, not the door slab. Drive lists 34.5 inches overall for this 26 inch SKU. Many interior doors are narrower than that. If the opening is close, see the chair in the store or ask us to measure with you before you order.

What is the weight capacity?

Drive lists 700 lbs for STD26ECDDA and STD26ECDFA. That rating is why this chair sits in Heavy Duty and Bariatric. The Extra HD 20-24 inch chairs are a different line at 500 lb.

Why 8 inch flat-free front casters?

Drive fits heavy-duty flat-free 8 inch casters so the front does not go flat under a 700 lb rating. They adjust in two positions. Rear wheels stay steel spoke for self-propel.

What is the warranty?

Drive's sheet and owner manual print a Lifetime Limited term for the original purchaser. Wear items such as casters and grips are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
