Description
The Interstate SLA1116 battery is a 12V 18Ah (20-hour) AGM sealed lead-acid cell with nut-and-bolt terminals. Interstate lists it in the General Purpose SLA family, not the Deep Cycle Mobility line. Westin Healthcare sells the single cell in Brampton and can match the terminal and size before we send a replacement across the Greater Toronto Area.
Who this mobility scooter battery is for
Travel scooters run two 12V cells in series. The Interstate SLA1116 is the 18Ah general-purpose cell in the 7.13 x 2.99 x 6.57 in (181 x 76 x 167 mm) case with nut-and-bolt posts. Pride prints an 18Ah pair on the Go-Go Sport and as an option on the Go-Go Elite Traveller 2. Pride does not print the SLA1116 code. The posts must be nut-and-bolt. A Faston or insert 18Ah cell is a different Interstate part.
- Use this cell when the old battery is 12V 18Ah and the posts take a nut and bolt
- Choose the Interstate DCM0018 when the old 18Ah cell has insert terminals
- Choose the Interstate SLA1104 or Interstate DCM0012 when the old cell is 12Ah in the shorter 5.94 in case

Terminals, chemistry, and size
Interstate's current General Purpose table prints SLA1116 as 12V 18Ah, 7.13 in long, 2.99 in wide, 6.57 in high including the terminal, nut-and-bolt. Chemistry is lead acid AGM (absorbent glass mat), valve-regulated, maintenance-free. Interstate prints VRLA construction to control spills and over-pressure. An older Power Patrol SLA1116 sheet used a flag post with .250 in Faston adapters. The live table is nut-and-bolt. Match the posts on the cell you are replacing.
SLA, AGM, gel, and the size ladder
Interstate's SLA codes in this size are AGM. Gel is a different family, such as the Interstate GEL0055 group 22NF. Deep-cycle mobility in this 18Ah envelope is the DCM0018 insert-terminal cell. Larger scooter and powerchair packs step up to group 22NF (DCM0055) and group 24 (MK 8A24). Lithium packs on some Pride folding scooters are not these cells.
Interstate SLA1116 specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU SLA1116. The specification tab should follow Interstate's current General Purpose table: 12V, 18Ah at the 20-hour rate, 7.13 x 2.99 x 6.57 in (181 x 76 x 167 mm), nut-and-bolt terminals, lead acid AGM. Interstate's older one-pager also prints 16.0Ah at 10 hours, 14.5Ah at 5 hours, and 9.8Ah at 1 hour, float 13.5-13.8V, cycle 14.4-14.7V, and a maximum charge current of 5.1A. That sheet says the cell is approved for transport by water, road, rail, and air as a sealed AGM. It does not print a mobility-scooter year life.

The current Westin specification line for this cell is a 1-year limited warranty. Interstate's live All Battery Center table does not print a year term on the SLA1116 row. We handle the claim with you.

What battery does my scooter take?
The Interstate SLA1116 is a 12V 18Ah nut-and-bolt AGM cell. Pride prints 18Ah on the Go-Go Sport and as an Elite Traveller 2 option. Read the Ah, the case size, and whether the old posts are nut-and-bolt, Faston, or insert before you order. Call Westin Healthcare with a photo if the stamp is worn.
Do I need two batteries for a scooter?
Yes. A 24V travel scooter uses two 12V batteries in series. The Interstate SLA1116 is sold as one cell. Replace both cells at the same time so the pair ages together.
How long do mobility scooter batteries last?
Interstate does not print a year life for SLA1116 in scooter service. Range that falls off after a full charge is the usual sign the pair is worn. Replace both 12V cells together and charge them with the charger the scooter maker lists.
Can I replace scooter batteries myself?
Pride travel scooters with a drop-in battery box are designed so a dealer or a careful owner can swap the pair by following that scooter's owner manual. Westin can do the swap on a home visit. Disconnect the charger, match the red and black leads, and do not short the posts.
Is SLA1116 the same as DCM0018?
No. Both are 12V 18Ah AGM in a similar envelope. SLA1116 is Interstate General Purpose with nut-and-bolt posts. DCM0018 is Interstate Deep Cycle Mobility with insert terminals. The posts will not swap.
What is the difference between F1 and F2 terminals?
F1 is a .187 in Faston tab. F2 is a .250 in Faston tab. SLA1116 is nut-and-bolt, not F1 or F2. If the old cell has Faston tabs, this is the wrong 18Ah code.
Is this a group 24 gel battery?
No. The Interstate SLA1116 has no BCI group size. Group 24 gel and AGM packs are the larger wheelchair and outdoor-scooter size, such as the MK 8A24.
