Description
The JAY GS cushion is Sunrise Medical's growth wheelchair cushion for Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The current card prints a 2.5 inch (6.4 cm) height without positioning components, widths from 10 to 18 inches (25 to 46 cm), depths from 10 to 20 inches (25 to 51 cm), 6.9 lbs (3.1 kg), and a 330 lb (150 kg) rating. This is a quote-only pediatric seat. A seating therapist sets the well, the shelf, and the components before we order.
Sunrise writes GS as a growth cushion that grows with the client while maintaining proper support, with a closed-cell foam base and an oversized JAY Flow fluid pad.
Who this cushion is for
The JAY GS cushion fits a growing child or young adult whose therapist wants fluid under the pelvis and room to lengthen the front of the seat. Stay here when a one-size JAY Zip Cushion will be outgrown too soon. A seating therapist should confirm GS versus Zip if the child is still in the 8 to 16 inch Zip width band and does not need a growth shelf.
- Shelf extension included so the front can lengthen
- Oversized JAY Flow fluid pad
- 330 lb (150 kg) rating
Growth well, components, and cover
The JAY GS cushion starts with a large well so the child can sit forward. The included shelf extension lengthens the front as the legs grow. The closed-cell foam base can be modified in the field. Contracture cutouts protect the lower extremities. Loop Velcro on the base holds 2 inch and 3 inch lateral pelvic, lateral thigh, and medial thigh components, plus extra shelves. Those components can ship pre-installed or be added later. The fluid pad is oversized so it still covers the well as the base changes. The Canada outer cover is X-static silver-thread stretch with 3DX spacer fabric and a waterfall front seam. An extra cover can be ordered.

Width, depth, and growth
A seating therapist measures hip width and thigh length and names a 10 to 18 inch width, a 10 to 20 inch depth, and whether the shelf starts on or off. Westin maps that to the Sunrise form. There is no drop-down on this page.
Which JAY wheelchair cushion fits
The JAY GS cushion is the growth fluid seat. Stay here when the child will need more front length. The JAY Zip Cushion is the lighter kids foam seat. The matching kids back is the JAY Zip Back. The JAY Easy Cushion is the adult foam-plus-small-fluid step. The JAY Fusion Cushion is the adult adjustable family.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the cushion needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise Medical JAY warranty
The JAY GS owner's manual is the warranty source for the original purchaser. Punctures, tears, and burns sit outside that term. Sunrise notes that Canadian terms can follow provincial funding rules. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us for the insert that ships with your order.
Frequently asked questions
What Size Wheelchair Cushion Do I Need?
The JAY GS cushion is ordered in 10 to 18 inch widths and 10 to 20 inch depths. A seating therapist measures hip width and thigh length. The shelf changes effective depth as the child grows.
How Do I Choose Between Gel, Foam, And Air Cushions?
The JAY GS cushion is closed-cell foam with an oversized JAY Flow fluid pad. JAY Flow is a vegetable-oil fluid, not a gel pack. It is not an air-cell cushion.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Cushions?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a wheelchair cushion or back support after an ADP-registered therapist assessment with an eligible mobility device. Eligibility depends on the child. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
How Does The GS Grow?
The JAY GS cushion starts with a large well so the child sits forward. The included shelf extension lengthens the front. Positioning components move on loop Velcro as the child grows.
What Is The Weight Limit For The JAY GS?
The JAY GS cushion is rated at 330 lbs (150 kg) on Sunrise's current card.
Is GS The Same As The Zip Cushion?
The JAY GS cushion is the growth fluid seat. The JAY Zip Cushion is the lighter kids foam seat without a growth shelf.
How Do I Clean The JAY GS?
The JAY GS cushion has a machine-washable stretch outer cover. Do not soak the foam or the fluid pad. Follow the owner's manual.
