The Select Air Max is Blake Medical's true low air loss mattress with Auto Comfort and an optional foot pillow. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Official codes are SAMAXSYSK010120-B (36 by 80, no foot pillow) and SAMAXSYSK004120-B (36 by 84, with foot pillow). Westin stores SAMAXSYSK010120.

Blake lists a 400 lb / 182 kg weight capacity and an 8-inch height. Blake states it is for the prevention and treatment of stage I-IV pressure injuries. The clinician who knows the person's skin still decides if this class is right.

Construction and how it works

This is a mattress replacement. Eighteen 8-inch cells sit in three sections (head, seat, foot) with integrated side air bolsters. Pulsation slightly raises then lowers airflow. Static mode is true low air loss with no cell movement. Auto Comfort sets pressure from the person's weight distribution. Auto Firm is for care. Upright mode adds support under the buttocks when the head of the bed is raised. The 84-inch version adds a foot pillow to limit migration. System Lock stops accidental changes.

The top cover is anti-microbial, fluid-resistant, and breathable nylon. Blake also lists the cover as water-resistant, vapour-permeable, flame-resistant, and biocompatible.

Is this an overlay or a replacement?
