Description
The Afiscooter S3+ scooter is Afikim's 3-wheel outdoor heavy-duty scooter. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Afikim rates the S3+ at 200 kg (450 lb), 10-15 km/h (6.2-9.3 mph), and 55-60 km (36-38 miles) on the current S3 table. Ground clearance is 12.5 cm (5 in). The turning radius is 143 cm (56 in). This is the tighter-turning S-line scooter, not the 4-wheel S4+ and not the mid-size C-line.
Who this scooter is for
This outdoor mobility scooter is for a person who wants a full-size Afikim for paths, parks, and light off-road in Canada, and who needs a 450 lb rating and a 20 inch seat. Families usually call us when a C3+ feels small on rough ground, but they still want a 3-wheel turn.
If you want the same S-line ride with four wheels, see the Afiscooter S4+. If a mid-size indoor and outdoor scooter is enough, start with the Afiscooter C3+. The S3+ is not a folding travel scooter and it does not go in a car trunk.
- 3-wheel outdoor, 56 inch turning radius
- 200 kg (450 lb) rating and a 20 inch seat (22 and 24 inch available)
- Outdoor Class C use as Afikim states it, with a 5 inch chassis
Range, speed, and batteries
Afikim lists a travel range of 55-60 km (36-38 miles) for the S3+ on the current official table. The S+ manual says that under normal conditions the S-line can travel about 45 km (30 miles) before a recharge, and that slopes, rough ground, and kerbs shorten that figure. Top speed is 10-15 km/h (6.2-9.3 mph). The upper number is limited by the country you ride in.
The S3+ takes two 12 V sealed gel batteries, up to 105 Ah. Use Choose Batteries to pick Group 22, Group 24, Group 27, or Group 31 gel packs. The 8 Amp charger plugs into the right side of the tiller. Charge overnight at the end of the day. After a long time in storage, Afikim asks for at least 24 hours on charge before you drive. Batteries are not in the base price.
Portability and transport
The Afiscooter S3+ is a full-size outdoor scooter, not an airline or car-trunk scooter. With batteries Afikim lists 153 kg (337 lb). Without batteries it is 106 kg (234 lb). The S+ manual lists each battery at 23 kg (50.6 lb) and the power unit at 25 kg (55 lb). The seat is about 20 kg (44 lb). Two people should lift the seat or a battery.
Plan on Westin delivery, a van or pickup, or a heavy-duty scooter lift. Afikim says the S3+ is not intended as a seat in a motor vehicle.

Those are separate builds. Ask us if you need one.
C-line or S-line, 3-wheel or 4-wheel
The S-line is Afikim's outdoor heavy-duty pair. The C-line is the mid-size indoor and outdoor pair. The S3+ turns in 143 cm (56 in). The Afiscooter S4+ adds a fourth wheel and a 228 cm (90 in) turn for a more planted outdoor ride. The Afiscooter C3+ keeps three wheels on a lighter 950 W mid-size chassis. Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Afikim manufacturer warranty
Afikim states that every Afiscooter is covered for a minimum of one year, and that the local dealer policy applies in Canada. We handle the claim with you. Afikim describes batteries as wear items to replace about every 2-3 years, after about 300-400 full charge cycles, or when the distance on a charge becomes short.
Frequently asked questions
How far can a mobility scooter go?
The Afiscooter S3+ is listed by Afikim at 55-60 km (36-38 miles) on the current official table. The S+ manual says about 45 km (30 miles) under normal conditions, and less on slopes, rough ground, or kerbs.
How long does a mobility scooter take to charge?
The Afiscooter S3+ uses the 8 Amp charger on the right side of the tiller. Afikim's routine is to charge overnight at the end of the day. After long storage, charge at least 24 hours before you drive.
Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?
The Afiscooter S3+ is not an airline travel scooter. It is a 337 lb outdoor scooter with batteries, with two large 12 V gel batteries. Afikim does not publish an airline approval for this model.
Can I put a mobility scooter in a car?
The Afiscooter S3+ does not fit in a car trunk. Length is 155 cm (61 in) and width is 68 cm (27 in) on standard wheels. Use Westin delivery, a van or pickup, or a scooter lift.
Can I use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Afiscooter S3+ will operate in light rain showers. Afikim does not recommend extended use in heavy rain or snow. A windshield canopy and side enclosures add cover from sun and light rain. They are not a sealed winter cabin.
Can I use a mobility scooter in winter?
The Afiscooter S3+ is rated to operate down to -30 C (-22 F). Afikim says do not store the batteries below 0 C, and that storage below 10 C reduces runtime. Keep the scooter dry and charge it indoors when you can.
What is the difference between 3-wheel and 4-wheel mobility scooters?
The Afiscooter S3+ is the 3-wheel S-line scooter with a 143 cm (56 in) turning radius. The Afiscooter S4+ is the 4-wheel sister with a 228 cm (90 in) turn and a more planted outdoor stance.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can fund a mobility scooter after an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist. Talk to Westin before you buy. The funding section above is the starting point.
Do I need a licence for a mobility scooter?
Afikim states that mobility scooters do not require a driving licence. Follow local sidewalk and path rules in Brampton and the GTA.
How often do mobility scooter batteries need replacing?
Afikim says to replace Afiscooter S3+ batteries about every 2-3 years, after about 300-400 full charge cycles, or when the distance on a charge becomes short.
