Description
The PreserveTech Aquachair Bathing System with Bidet is Drive item RTL12A004-WH, a shower chair with back that adds an in-seat bidet and a handheld spray. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The rust-resistant aluminum frame is rated at 350 lb (159 kg). It connects to the water supply. Drive prints that no electrical connection or batteries are needed.
Front or rear cleansing is on the Drive card (front is the gentler spray). The handheld spray parks in an armrest holder. The seat is open. Width between the arms is 17.8 in (45.2 cm). Height uses a push-button on each leg. Drive's live one-pager still prints that range as X to X. Authorized Drive dealers reprint 15 in to 19.5 in (38 cm to 49.5 cm). Confirm the printed range on the carton before you set the legs.
Who this bathing system is for
This shower chair with back is for a person who stays at or under the 350 lb rating and who wants a seated wash with a bidet, without standing for the whole shower. Families usually call us when they want hygiene help in a stall or a tub-shower and they do not need a facility-size bathing tub.
If the person needs to sit outside the tub and slide in, start with the Drive Combination Transfer Bench and Commode. Drive also lists an optional Aquachair transfer accessory (RTL12A004-TR). We do not stock that accessory as its own page. If they want a powered seat in a soaking tub, see the Bellavita Auto Bath Lifter.
- A seated wash with an in-seat bidet and a handheld spray
- No batteries and no electrical hookup
- 350 lb rating, 17.8 in between the arms
Water hookup and height
Drive prints that the PreserveTech Aquachair connects to the water supply. There is no electrical connection and there are no batteries. Follow the Drive owner manual for the hookup. Do not invent extra fittings. We can walk through the carton instructions at delivery.
Leg height uses a push-button. Non-skid tips are standard. The backrest, seat, and tips are anti-microbial treated, in Drive's words, to help with stains and odours from bacteria, mold, and mildew.
PreserveTech Aquachair specifications
These figures are for Drive item RTL12A004-WH as printed on Drive's current one-pager. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use 350 lb and 17.8 in between the arms. The official height line is still a placeholder on that sheet.
Capacity 350 lb (159 kg). Unit weight 10.89 lb (4.94 kg). Assembled 32.28 in wide by 18.11 in long by 34.65 in high (82.0 cm by 46.0 cm by 88.0 cm). Material PP and aluminium. Colour white. Warranty for a Canadian purchaser follows Drive's printed term: 1 year limited.
Bath lift chair or transfer bench
A bath lift chair for elderly use sits inside a soaking tub and raises and lowers on a battery. A transfer bench bridges the tub wall so the person sits outside and slides in. The PreserveTech Aquachair is a shower chair with a bidet. It is not a bath lift and it is not, on its own, a transfer bench.
If the person cannot step over a tub wall, start with the Drive Combination Transfer Bench and Commode. If they want a powered seat in a soaking tub, use the Bellavita Auto Bath Lifter.
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
