Description
The Drive toilet safety frame with padded arms, item RTL12000, is Drive Medical's toilet-attached anodized aluminum frame with padded armrests. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and can fit it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Drive prints a 300 lb (136 kg) weight limit, a 4 lb (1.8 kg) frame, and a width of 19 to 23.50 inches between arms.
This is the padded-arm sibling of Drive 12001-4, not a second copy of that plastic-arm frame, and not Drive 12008. Drive RTL12087 is a different product: the compact toilet safety rail.
How this frame mounts
Drive prints that a powder-coated aluminum bracket easily attaches the frame to the toilet and that the bracket secures the frame in place. Arms are height-adjustable in 1 inch increments and width-adjustable in two positions. Drive does not print a numeric height range on the RTL12000 sheet.
The McKesson IFU printed for item 146-RTL12000 (the same RTL12000 number) says: remove the seat bolts, set the flange with the tube toward the tank, put the seat back, reuse the original nuts, slide the arms into the bracket, and lock every snap button. Use both hands when you sit or stand. We can run those steps at delivery. This frame is not a wall grab bar and Drive does not print stud or anchor advice for it.

The Drive Toilet Safety Rail (RTL12087) is a narrower padded-handle rail. Drive's raised-seat chooser pairs RTL12000 with a no-arm riser, the Drive RTL12064.
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Frequently asked questions
How Do You Install a Toilet Safety Frame?
The Drive toilet safety frame with padded arms RTL12000 uses a powder-coated aluminum bracket on the toilet. The McKesson IFU for 146-RTL12000 says to lift the seat, set the flange with the tube toward the tank, reuse the original nuts, and lock the snap buttons. We can run those steps at delivery in Brampton and the GTA.
Do Toilet Safety Rails Need Wall Studs?
The Drive RTL12000 frame is not a wall grab bar. Drive does not print stud or wall-anchor steps for this frame. The printed mount is the toilet bracket.
How High Should Toilet Safety Rails Be?
Drive prints that RTL12000 arms adjust in 1 inch increments and does not print a numeric height band on the current sheet. We set the snap buttons with you at delivery. Do not use a 28 to 32 inch figure for this SKU; that band belongs to AquaSense 770-665.
Can I Use This With a Raised Toilet Seat?
Drive's raised-seat chooser says to pair a toilet safety frame with a raised seat that does not include armrests, and it names RTL12000 with RTL12064. We still check the bowl and the riser before we leave both in place.
What Is the Weight Capacity?
Drive lists 300 lb (136 kg) on the RTL12000 sheet. Stay at or under that rating.
Is This the Same as Drive 12001-4?
No. RTL12000 is the padded-arm Drive toilet safety frame at 19 to 23.50 inches between arms and 4 lb. Drive 12001-4 is the plastic-arm frame. Westin sells both.
Toilet Safety Frame or Grab Bars: Which Do I Need?
The Drive RTL12000 frame mounts on the toilet. A wall grab bar mounts on the wall and follows the bar maker's stud or backing rules. They are not the same product. See our HealthCraft knurled grab bar if you need a wall bar.
What Is the Warranty?
Drive prints Limited Lifetime on the RTL12000 card. Wear items such as grips sit outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
