Description
The RoWalker 400 is SystemRoMedic's adult gait trainer for early indoor walking practice. Direct Healthcare Group publishes it as RoWalker400. Savaria Patient Care and Handicare are the North American channel names. It is not a Human Care product, and it is not a Drive or Hoyer lift. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
DHG's instructions for use (IFU 724 rev. 12) say RoWalker400 is a walker used as an aid to walking training by patients with impaired leg strength and balance. It is designed for early mobilization, specially for cardio-thoracic and abdominal post-surgical patients. Features include integration for oxygen, drain bags, and IV poles. This is a quote-only item.
Who this gait trainer is for
Use only the manufacturer's requirements. DHG writes that to transfer with RoWalker400, the person must be able to:
- Support weight while standing
- Stand up and maintain balance (with support)
- Grasp handles
- Understand instructions
The same IFU says the RoWalker400 is not intended for long transfers, can only be used on a flat floor, and that the person must not be left unattended during a transfer. Seat pads are for intermittent use during a transfer, not for longer periods of rest. Weight must sit evenly on both split pads. This is not a full-body hoist and it does not use a sling.
If the clinic needs a powered sit-to-stand walker with a harness, see the Bure Rise and Go. If the person cannot stand, see a floor lift such as the Drive sit-to-stand lift.
Fit and height
Height is a pressurized-air control on the arm support. The person can hold that control while the arm rest is set. The leaflet and Savaria card print 46.14 to 54.29 inches (1172 to 1379 mm), stepless. Locking clamps hold the height. Star knobs set the arm-support angle. A foot pedal opens the base toward a chair or wheelchair.
DHG does not print a user-height chart. We set the arm supports on the quote visit so the person can stand, place the arms on the pads, and grasp the handles.
Wheels, brakes, and folding
Four castors, 80 mm (3.15 inches), roll on a flat floor. Rear castors have a direction lock for straight walking. Front castors lock for standing or rest. DHG says use it only on a flat floor and not for long transfers. The IFU does not list outdoor use.
The IFU and the leaflet do not call the frame foldable. Plan on the assembled size: 38.85 by 27.32 inches (987 by 694 mm) without oxygen tank holders. With holders the IFU drawings print 1013 mm long and 906 mm wide.
Weight and portability
DHG prints 37.5 kg (82.67 lb) without oxygen tank holders, and 43.5 kg (95.9 lb) with them. That is a two-person lift, not a car-trunk aid. Quoted units are delivered on a scheduled date. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply.
RoWalker 400 specifications
These figures are for SystemRoMedic RoWalker400 as printed in DHG IFU 724 rev. 12 and the Handicare/SystemRoMedic leaflet. The specification tab holds the stored values. The quoted model is RoWalker400.
SWL 180 kg (400 lb). Seat 480 mm (18.9 inches) wide by 265 mm (10.43 inches) deep. Castors 80 mm (3.15 inches). Device weight 37.5 kg (82.67 lb); 43.5 kg (95.9 lb) with oxygen tank holders. Height 1172 to 1379 mm (46.14 to 54.29 inches). Outer length by width 987 by 694 mm (38.85 by 27.32 inches) without holders. Powder-coated steel. Hooks for a portable oxygen system. Tank holders are accessories confirmed on the quote.
The IFU cover prints REF 20201010. The leaflet and Savaria card print article 20101010. We confirm the article number on the quote. DHG does not print a year-count warranty. The IFU says inspect yearly, and otherwise as required, by a qualified technician.
A gait trainer or a sit-to-stand lift
The RoWalker 400 does not lift the person with a motor or a sling. The person stands, leans on the arm supports, and walks. Split seat pads swing out or flip up. Soft knee pads tilt. That is walking practice, not a hoist.
The Bure Rise and Go is a different product: a powered walker with a manufacturer stand-up harness. A Drive sit-to-stand lift uses a sling. Do not hang a Westin sling-category sling on the RoWalker frame.
