The Blake Rhythm Turn is a 10 inch powered mattress replacement that combines low air loss with continuous lateral rotation at 20 or 40 degrees. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and hangs the control unit on the footboard for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The default code on this page is RHYTURN3680 (36 by 80 inches). 42 and 48 inch sizes sit on the same picker.

Blake's current Rhythm Turn page says this system is used for the maintenance of skin health and the prevention and treatment of stage I-IV pressure injuries. Who this mattress is for

This mattress is for a person who needs a powered surface that turns them from side to side on a schedule, plus low air loss for moisture, at a 600 lb safe working load. Blake names at-risk users and step-down intensive care. It also suits home care when a clinician has asked for rotation that a family cannot keep up with by hand.

Families usually call us when pneumonia or secretion management is part of the care plan, when turning in bed has become unsafe for the caregiver, or when a static low air loss surface is not enough. This is a full replacement, not an overlay. The existing mattress comes off.

Construction and how it works

The Rhythm Turn is a powered lateral-rotation and low air loss system. Blake's current page and brochure describe 18 air cells, each 8 inches, over a 2 inch convoluted foam base, inside a high vapor-permeable quilted nylon zipper cover. A glide sheet sits on the base. The blower is printed at up to 1,200 litres per minute. The Prius user manual Blake hosts also names permanently inflated side bolsters on the mattress for the turning surface.

Rotation is 20 degrees or 40 degrees, left, right, or full. Static mode stops the turn and leaves true low air loss. Auto Firm gives a hard surface for care and transfers. The brochure lists 10 digital comfort settings, keypad lockout, visual and audio alarms, and CPR deflation in under 20 seconds. Cycle time on the brochure is 3 to 95 minutes.

The Prius manual describes the case as double-insulated for maximum silent operation and still requires periodic repositioning. A power-failure alarm sounds if the wall power drops. The 2 inch foam base is the backup surface if the cells go down.
