Description

The Quickie Q700 M is a mid-wheel Category 3 power wheelchair from Sunrise Medical, sold here with SEDEO PRO seating. Westin Healthcare configures it to an ADP-registered therapist's prescription and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

This is not an off-the-shelf cart chair. Seat size, seating functions, and electronics are built to the order. Sunrise Canada's current Q700 M page rates the standard base at 300 lbs (HD 450 lbs), up to 18 miles with Group 24 batteries and 6 mph motors, a 25 inch base, and a 23.5 inch turning radius. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assessment comes first. For eligible clients, ADP can fund 75% of the approved price.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who needs a mid-wheel power base with ongoing postural support and electronics that can be changed as needs change, and who is within Sunrise's 300 lb rating (or the 450 lb HD option when that is the prescribed base). Families usually call us when indoor turning and outdoor curb work both matter, and when SEDEO PRO cushions, backs, and power positioning are part of the therapy plan.

If a more compact Quickie mid-wheel is enough, start with the Quickie Q500 M. If you need a Quantum mid-wheel with iLevel, see the Quantum Edge 3. The Q700 M is not a folding travel chair and it is not a consumer scooter.

  • ADP Category 3 / Adult Power Base Type 3 (device code WP0000686)
  • SEDEO PRO seating built to the prescription
  • Mid-wheel drive, 25 inch base, 23.5 inch turning radius

Design and build

Sunrise builds the Q700 M as a mid-wheel base with ProGrip suspension and independent movement of all six wheels. The chassis is a single sheet of metal. Drive wheels are 14 inches. Casters are 6 inches. 4-pole motors with polished metal gears and larger cooling fins are how Sunrise describes daily drive and reduced thermal rollback.

SEDEO PRO is a modular seat frame. Width, depth, back height, armrests, and leg rests adjust with one tool on the manufacturer page. Power options on that seating include tilt, 150 degree recline with 4 inches of anti-shear, elevating leg rests, and C-Me seat elevation up to 12 inches while driving up to 3 mph (weight limits apply; C-Me at 3 mph is rated to 250 lbs). JAY cushions and Whitmyer headrests can go on the order. Occupied transit brackets are standard and the base is tested to ISO 7176-19:2008.

The standard control is the R-Net joystick. Bluetooth, infrared, assignable buttons, and Switch-It specialty controls are manufacturer options when the therapist asks for them. The chair does not fold. Plan on a van, a lift, or an accessible vehicle if it has to travel.

Quickie Q700 M specifications

These figures are for the current North American Q700 M (model EIPW25) as printed on Sunrise Medical Canada. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the Canada page, not older UK lines that talk about 25 stone, 25 miles, or 60 Ah Gel as the everyday sheet.

Base width 25 inches. Turning radius 23.5 inches. Ground clearance 3 inches. Product length 36.5 inches. Seat-to-floor 16.5 to 19 inches. SEDEO PRO seat width 16 to 26 inches and depth 14 to 22 inches. Standard user weight 300 lbs; HD 450 lbs. Range up to 18 miles with Group 24 batteries and 6 mph motors. Speeds 6 mph standard, 5 mph optional, 8 mph optional. Batteries Group 34 or Group 24. Curb climb up to 3 inches. Gradients up to 9 degrees, with the limits in the owner's manual.

Warranty on the Sunrise product page is Lifetime Limited. Coverage can vary by province and funding program. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

Colour, seat width, and seat depth

Use Color, Seat Width, and Seat Depth as the starting size and finish on the order. The therapist and Westin then complete seating, electronics, and power functions on the Sunrise order form. SEDEO PRO widths on the manufacturer page run 16 to 26 inches and depths 14 to 22 inches. If a size you need is not in Color, Seat Width, or Seat Depth, ask us. We will write it on the form.

Do not treat those three choices as a finished chair. A Category 3 power wheelchair is configured after assessment, not picked like a stock seat cushion.

ADP funding for a Category 3 wheelchair in Ontario

This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

After the chair is approved and built to the prescription, Westin's own team delivers and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the joystick, charger, and seating functions before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mid-wheel power chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This power wheelchair is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Sunrise manufacturer warranty

Sunrise prints a Lifetime Limited warranty on the current Q700 M page. Coverage can vary by province and by the funding program on the order. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us which term applies to your chair.

Frequently asked questions

What does Category 3 mean on this power wheelchair?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists the Q700 M as an Adult Power Base Type 3 device (WP0000686). Type 3 is the group for people who need ongoing changes in postural support and modifications to electronics. It is not a Type 1 indoor-only base and it is not a consumer travel chair.

Who qualifies for ADP funding?

In general you must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card and a disability that needs a mobility aid for 6 months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before you buy. We cannot promise that a specific person will qualify.

How does the 75 / 25 split work?

For eligible clients, ADP pays 75% of the approved price and the person pays 25%. If the person receives Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD, ADP can cover 100% of that approved price. Batteries and items outside the ADP device are extra. Talk to us before anyone pays a deposit.

What is the assessment process?

An ADP-registered OT or PT examines the person, helps complete the application, and works with Westin on the configuration. The vendor submits the form. Ontario aims to review applications within 8 weeks. Do not order the chair before those steps, or you may have to pay the full cost.

How long does it take to get the chair?

Ontario's target review is 8 weeks after a complete application. Build time after approval depends on the seating and electronics on the order. We will give you a schedule once the prescription is firm. This is not next-day cart delivery.

Can I try a Q700 M before we submit ADP paperwork?

Call (905) 451-7743 and ask what is on the floor in Brampton or Toronto. A floor chair is a starting point. The chair that ships is the one on the order form.

How should the seat width fit?

The therapist measures seated hip width and sets SEDEO PRO width and depth on the order. Manufacturer SEDEO PRO widths are 16 to 26 inches and depths 14 to 22 inches. Use Seat Width and Seat Depth as the starting pair, then finish the form with us.

What is the weight capacity?

Sunrise lists 300 lbs on the standard Q700 M and 450 lbs on the HD option. C-Me at 3 mph is listed at 250 lbs. Ignore a 25 stone or 350 lb line if it still appears on an old spec row.

What if the prescription includes power tilt or recline?

Ontario treats power dynamic tilt and/or recline as high technology. Those chairs are bought through the Central Equipment Pool. Your therapist will say if that path applies. Westin works with that process when it does.

What happens if ADP declines the application?

Ontario sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. Do not take delivery on the assumption that funding will arrive later. Call us and we will walk through the next step with the therapist.

What is the warranty on the Q700 M?

Sunrise prints Lifetime Limited on the current product page. Provincial funding rules can change what is on the invoice. Westin Healthcare processes the claim. Details are on our service and repairs page.

Will this chair fold into a car trunk?

No. It is a full-size mid-wheel rehab base. Sunrise lists a 25 inch base and a starting weight in the 328 to 366 lb range with SEDEO PRO and batteries. Moving it usually means a van, a lift, or an accessible vehicle.
