Description

The Quantum R-Trak is a rear-wheel power wheelchair from Quantum Rehab. Westin Healthcare configures it to prescription and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

This is a prescription rehab base, not a stock cart chair. Quantum Rehab's current spec sheet rates the R-Trak at 300 lbs, up to 7 mph (up to 3.5 mph with the 10 inch lift), a 25.7 inch turning radius, and a 24.2 inch base. Smooth Ride Suspension and a rear-wheel drivetrain are the current ride package. A therapist assessment comes first.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who needs a rear-wheel power base, seating that can change as needs change, and who is within Quantum's 300 lb rating. Families usually call us when a classic rear-wheel track and a 24.2 inch base matter more than a mid-wheel turn, and when 7 mph and optional 10 inch lift are on the therapy plan.

If you want a mid-wheel Type 3, start with the Quantum Edge 3. If you want a front-wheel Type 3, see the Quantum 4Front 2. The R-Trak is not a folding travel chair.

  • Rear-wheel drive, Group 3 class of use
  • 24.2 inch base, 25.7 inch turning radius
  • SRS; up to 7 mph, or 3.5 mph with 10 inch lift

Design and build

Quantum builds the R-Trak as a two-motor rear-wheel base with Smooth Ride Suspension. Drive wheels are 14 inch solid or pneumatic. Casters are 9 inch solid. Anti-tip wheels are 4 inch flat-free. The current product page lists 4-pole motors, integrated switch lights, and 14 colour options. Electronics on that spec page include 120 amp Q-Logic 3, 75 amp Q-Logic NE+, and 75 amp Q-Logic NES. Specialty controls can be ordered. The chair does not fold.

TRU-Balance 3, TRU-Balance Flex, and contoured seating are the manufacturer families on the current product page. Optional 10 inch lift is listed at up to 3.5 mph. A therapist and Westin complete the Quantum order form after assessment.

Quantum R-Trak specifications

These figures are for the R-Trak as printed on Quantum Rehab's current spec sheet (Rev B, August 2023) and the live spec page. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Stowage length 34.8 inches without front riggings. Base width 24.2 inches. Base weight 128 lbs. Batteries Group 24, 51.5 lbs each. Charger 8 amp off-board. Range up to 16.34 miles with Group 24 batteries on that sheet. Maximum rated slope 7.5 degrees. Obstacle climbing 2.36 inches.

Warranty for a Canadian purchaser follows Quantum's Canada insert: lifetime limited on the main frame and fixed-position seat post, 2 years on electronics, motors, actuators, and accessories, 6 months on bearings, and 12 months on Quantum-supplied batteries.

Configuration

The therapist and Westin complete TRU-Balance 3 or Flex or contoured seating, electronics, and power functions on the Quantum order form after assessment. If a size you need is not a starting option, ask us. We will write it on the form.

Do not treat a colour or size choice as a finished chair. This power base is configured after assessment.

Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

After the chair is approved and built to the prescription, Westin's own team delivers and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the joystick, charger, and seating functions before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a rear-wheel power chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This power wheelchair is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Quantum manufacturer warranty

Quantum's current Canada insert is lifetime limited on the main frame and fixed-position seat post, 2 years on electronics, motors, actuators, and accessories, 6 months on bearings and bushings, and 12 months on Quantum-supplied batteries. Wear items such as tyres, shrouds, and upholstery are outside that term. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the R-Trak a folding travel chair?

No. It is a full-size rear-wheel rehab base, 24.2 inches wide and 34.8 inches long without riggings, with a 128 lb base before batteries on the spec sheet.

What is the weight capacity?

Quantum lists 300 lbs. Stay at or under that rating. Seating on the order can lower it.

How is rear-wheel drive different from mid-wheel?

Rear-wheel bases track in a straight line outdoors and have a longer wheelbase than a mid-wheel Edge. The R-Trak turning radius on the spec sheet is 25.7 inches. The Edge 3 Canada sheet is 20.5 inches. A therapist decides which base fits the home.

Does ADP cover the R-Trak?

Rear-wheel Group 3 bases can be ADP devices when they sit on the current Mobility Devices Product Manual. We do not print a device code on this page until the authorizer confirms the current row. An ADP-registered OT or PT has to assess the need first.

Who qualifies for ADP funding in general?

In general you must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card and a disability that needs a mobility aid for 6 months or longer. An ADP-registered OT or PT has to assess you first. We cannot promise that a specific person will qualify.

What is the assessment process?

An ADP-registered OT or PT examines the person, helps complete the application, and works with Westin on the configuration. Do not order before those steps if funding is part of the plan.

Can I try an R-Trak first?

Call (905) 451-7743 and ask what is on the floor. A floor chair is a starting point. The finished chair is built to the prescription.

What is the top speed?

Up to 7 mph on the spec sheet, or up to 3.5 mph with the 10 inch lift. User weight, terrain, and tyre condition change that figure.

What batteries does it use?

Group 24, 51.5 lbs each on the spec sheet. Charger is 8 amp off-board.

What is the warranty?

Lifetime frame, 2 years electronics and motors, 12 months Quantum batteries, on the Canada insert. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

What if the prescription includes power tilt or recline?

Ontario treats power dynamic tilt and/or recline as high technology. Those chairs are bought through the Central Equipment Pool. Your therapist will say if that path applies.
