Description
The Span America Advantage USB Charging Port QD1000, Field Installed (manufacturer code Q6761) puts a USB charging point on a Span Advantage QD1000 bed, fitted to a bed already in service. Savaria's 2026 range prints the line as "Advantage USB Port QD1000, FIELD INSTALL". Westin Healthcare specifies, supplies and services Span beds in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
A resident with a phone, a tablet or a hearing aid case needs somewhere to charge it. Without a port on the bed, that means an extension cord across the floor of a room where people transfer, and a cord on the floor is a fall waiting to happen.
Field install, for a bed that is already in the room
Q6761 is the code for a bed already in service. The kit is fitted to the bed where it stands, which is the answer when a facility standardised on the Advantage QD1000 two years ago and the charging problem only turned up later. If the bed has not been built yet, this is the wrong code and Q6766, the factory install, is the right one.
Savaria prices the two install modes separately across every option family in the 2026 range, which is Savaria telling you this is an ordering decision rather than a packaging detail. It also means a field kit is not simply a factory kit in a box, so ordering the wrong one is a return, not a workaround.
Plan the fitting into a time when the bed can be out of service, and tell us how many beds are involved. We service the beds we sell across the GTA and a batch of beds in one building is a very different job from one bed in one room.
Which beds this fits
This code is for the Span Advantage Q-Series, the QD1000 and QD1000Y builds. Span supplies a different USB code for each of its other bed platforms and for each install mode, which makes six codes in the 2026 range.
| Bed platform | Field install | Factory install |
|---|---|---|
| Span Advantage QD1000 and QD1000Y | Q6761 | Q6766 |
| Span Advantage ReadyWide MC7, Standard builds on TiMOTION controls | Q6762 | Q6767 |
| Span Encore MC9 | Q6763 | Q6768 |
Two beds that both say "Advantage" on the label are not the same platform. The QD1000 is the Q-Series Advantage. The MC7 is the Advantage ReadyWide, and there is a quick test on site: the ReadyWide and the Encore have SmartStop low-position auto-pause, and the QD1000 does not. The QD1000 owner manual has no mention of it at all. If you are still not sure, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will identify the platform before anything is ordered.
The Plus is a gap, and we will say so
The Advantage ReadyWide Plus, the MC7WP built on LINAK controls, has no USB port code printed against it anywhere in the 2026 Savaria range. Savaria prints LINAK-specific codes for that bed in other accessory families, so the absence is worth noticing rather than assuming. If you need a charging point on a Plus, ask us and we will put the question to Savaria in writing rather than send you a code that was meant for a different control system.
What Savaria does not publish
Savaria names this accessory. The Encore product card lists a "USB Charging Kit" among that bed's accessories, and the 2026 range supplies the code and the install split. What no Savaria document supplies is the port itself: no count, no connector type, no output current, no wattage, and no mounting position. We checked the SPAN Advantage brochure item code table, which prints twenty-four codes and no USB code among them, and the Advantage owner manual, which does not contain the word USB.
So we will not tell you it is USB-C, and we will not tell you it will fast charge a tablet. If your specification depends on a connector or a current, ask us and we will get it from Savaria in writing before you order. Guessing on a spec sheet is how the wrong part ends up on a bed.
What it does not change
- The bed's rating. The Advantage QD1000 safe working load stays 500 lb (227 kg), and Span states that figure already includes the patient, the head and foot panels, the mattress, the side rails and accessories.
- The bed's travel. It still runs 7-7/8 inches to 30 inches, 0 to 70 degrees on the back deck and 0 to 30 degrees on the knee deck.
- The bed's electrical rating. The Advantage is 120/60/1 at a maximum 3.5 A, Class I Type B, IPX4.
- The warranty structure. This is a bed accessory, so the Span term is one year, labour excluded, with an RMA required on a return.
Common questions
How many ports is it, and are they USB-A or USB-C?
Savaria does not publish that, for this code or for any of the other five. We would rather tell you that than print a number we cannot support. Ask us and we will request it from Savaria before you order.
What is the difference between Q6766 and Q6761?
Only when the kit goes on. Q6766 is built into the bed at the factory, before it ships. Q6761 is fitted to a bed already in service. Same platform, separate codes, separate lines on an order.
I am ordering new beds. Should I use this code?
Not usually. For a bed that has not been built yet, Q6766 puts the port in at the factory. Q6761 is for beds already in service.
Will it fit my Advantage ReadyWide?
No. The ReadyWide is the MC7 platform and takes Q6767 factory or Q6762 field on TiMOTION controls. Ordering a QD1000 code for an MC7 bed is the most common mistake in this family.
Does the port keep working when the bed is unplugged?
Savaria does not document the port's behaviour on backup battery power, so we will not claim either way. If the bed has a backup battery and this matters to you, ask us to confirm it with Savaria first.
Can I have lighting as well?
Yes, and it is a separate code. Under bed lighting for the same QD1000 platform is Q6751 factory install, with Q6750 as the field install equivalent. Two options, two lines.
Ordering and support
Tell us the bed model and serial number and whether the bed is on order or already in service, and we will put the right code on the quote. We service and repair the beds we sell across Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto and the wider GTA, and the rest of the range sits under bed accessories, hospital beds and long term care beds. Questions go to our team or (905) 451-7743.
