The Span America Advantage Under Bed Lighting QD1000, Factory Installed (manufacturer code Q6751) is Span's factory fitted under bed lighting kit for the Advantage QD1000. The Advantage owner manual builds the control for it straight into the hand pendant, where function 6 is the Under Bed Light button, and the 2026 Savaria range supplies the kit as its own order code. This is the factory code. It goes on a new bed order and arrives already fitted and wired to the bed's control box, so the bed is delivered ready to use. To add under bed lighting to an Advantage that is already in a room, order the field install version instead, Q6750.

Which beds this fits

Read this before you order. Savaria supplies a different under bed lighting code for each bed platform, and the codes are not interchangeable. This page is Q6751.

Span's own part description for this code reads "REXX/ADV UNDERBED LIGHT KIT FACTORY INSTALLED", so it covers the Span Rexx as well as the Span Advantage Q-Series. The 2026 Savaria range names only the QD1000 on this line. If you are specifying a Rexx, tell us and we will confirm the line with Savaria before the order goes out rather than assuming the wider description wins.

The bed and control box labels identify the platform. If you cannot find them, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will identify it before anything is ordered. One quick tell in the room: the Advantage QD1000 has no SmartStop. If the bed pauses on the way down and warns you before it reaches its lowest position, you are looking at a ReadyWide or an Encore, and those take different lighting codes.

What the lighting does

It puts a soft light under the bed frame, controlled from the bed rather than from the wall. On the Advantage the control is built into the standard hand pendant as function 6: press the Under Bed Light button to turn it on, press again to adjust the brightness, press again to turn it off. Nobody has to reach for a lamp, and nobody has to turn on the ceiling light at three in the morning to check on a resident.

• A caregiver can see the floor around the bed before moving anything
• Brightness is adjustable at the pendant, so the same kit suits a light sleeper and a dark room
• The light travels with the bed instead of living in a wall outlet

The lights are also useful during service. Span's control box reset procedure ends with the hand pendant LED, the foot end controller LEDs and, if the kit is installed, the underbed lights flashing together to confirm that the reset worked.

The Advantage is a low bed. It travels from 7-7/8 inches to 30 inches, and it is chosen precisely because a resident who does get up meets the floor sooner. Lighting the floor the resident is about to stand on is the natural companion to that decision, which is why Span builds the button into every Advantage pendant and sells the kit separately.

Span does not publish the number of LED strips, the light output, the colour temperature or the mounting position for any of its under bed lighting codes, and we will not invent them. Span America manufacturer warranty

Span Medical Products Canada warrants beds and accessories against defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use from the date of initial delivery. Batteries, hand pendants, foot end controllers and cables carry one year, bed accessories carry one year, and parts subject to wear carry one year. Electrical components, which Span defines as the control box and the actuators, carry five years. The frame and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. Labour for service is not covered by the manufacturer warranty, and warranty claims run through a Span RMA number. We handle the claim with you.

What is the manufacturer code?

Q6751. The 2026 Savaria range prints it as "Advantage Under Bed Lighting QD1000, FACTORY INSTALL", and Span's own part description reads "REXX/ADV UNDERBED LIGHT KIT FACTORY INSTALLED". Quote the code and the bed platform together and the order desk cannot pick the wrong one.

Should I order factory or field?

Factory if the bed has not been built yet, because it arrives fitted and tested with the bed. Field if the bed is already in a room, because a technician fits it there. Savaria offers under bed lighting both ways on this platform: Q6751 for factory and Q6750 for field.

Will this fit any Span bed?

No. This code is for the Advantage QD1000, and Span's own part description extends it to the Rexx. An Advantage ReadyWide MC7 on TiMOTION controls takes Q6749 or Q6748, and a ReadyWide Plus MC7WP on LINAK controls takes Q6787. The table above lists all four codes in the range.

Does the light need its own switch or outlet?

No. It runs from the bed's own supply and it is operated from the hand pendant, function 6 on the Advantage's eleven function pendant. There is no wall switch to add and no second cord under a bed that changes height.

How bright is it, and what colour?

Span does not publish the light output, the colour temperature, the LED count or the mounting position for any of its under bed lighting codes, so we do not quote one. Brightness is adjustable at the pendant. If your specification needs a figure, ask us and we will get it from Savaria in writing before you order.

How do I tell an Advantage from a ReadyWide?

Check the bed label first. In the room, the quickest tell is SmartStop: the Advantage owner manual contains no reference to it, while the ReadyWide and the Encore pause and warn on the last stretch of downward travel. The Advantage also has a fixed 35 inch sleep surface unless an expander kit is fitted, while a ReadyWide widens to 39 or 42 inches on its own.

Does it affect the bed's safe working load?

Span states that the Advantage safe working load of 500 lb (227 kg) includes the patient, the head and foot panels, the mattress, the side rails and accessories, so every option you add uses part of that allowance.

What is the warranty?

One year. Span puts bed accessories in its one year row rather than in the five year electrical components row, which covers the control box and the actuators. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty. Our own service and repairs department handles the claim with you.
