Description
The Quickie Q500 M is a compact mid-wheel Category 3 power wheelchair from Sunrise Medical. Westin Healthcare configures it to an ADP-registered therapist's prescription and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
The Q500 M (ADP device code WP0001630) is not a stock cart chair. Seat size, SEDEO PRO seating, and electronics are built to the order. Sunrise Canada's current page rates the base at 300 lbs, 6 mph, up to 14 miles, a 24 inch width, and an 18.5 inch turning radius without the footplate. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assessment comes first. For eligible clients, ADP can fund 75% of the approved price.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a mid-wheel power base that turns in a small indoor footprint, still has outdoor range on Group 34 batteries, and who is within Sunrise's 300 lb rating. Families usually call us when a 25 inch Q700 M base is more chair than the home can take, and when SEDEO PRO or Captain Seat still has to be prescribed.
If you want the larger Quickie mid-wheel with the HD option, start with the Quickie Q700 M. If you want a Quantum mid-wheel with optional iLevel, see the Quantum Edge 3. The Q500 M is not a folding travel chair.
- ADP Category 3 / Adult Power Base Type 3 (device code WP0001630)
- 24 inch base and 18.5 inch turning radius
- SEDEO PRO, SEDEO LITE, or Captain Seat on the order form
Design and build
Sunrise builds the Q500 M as a mid-wheel base with six independently suspended wheels. The chassis is a single sheet of metal. Drive wheels are 13 or 14 inches. Casters are 7 inches. High-torque 4-pole motors are rated at 6 mph. Ground clearance is 3 inches. Sunrise lists gradients up to 7 degrees.
SEDEO PRO widths are 16 to 22 inches and depths 14 to 22 inches. Power options include tilt, 150 degree recline with 4 inches of anti-shear, elevating leg rests, and C-Me elevation up to 12 inches while driving up to 3 mph. Occupied transit brackets are standard. The base is tested to ISO 7176-19:2008.
Controls are VR2 or R-Net. Bluetooth, infrared, assignable buttons, and Switch-It specialty controls are manufacturer options when the therapist asks for them. The chair does not fold. Plan on a van, a lift, or an accessible vehicle if it has to travel.
If a floor chair is available in a Brampton or Toronto store, we can show you the base before the order is written. The chair that ships is still the one on the form.

How this chair is configured
Every Q500 M is written on the Sunrise order form with the therapist. Seat width, seat depth, seating system, electronics, and power functions are set there. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will start that form with you.
ADP funding for a Category 3 wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
After the chair is approved and built to the prescription, Westin's own team delivers and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the joystick, charger, and seating functions before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mid-wheel power chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
This power wheelchair is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise manufacturer warranty
Sunrise prints a Lifetime Limited warranty on the current Q500 M page. Coverage can vary by province and by the funding program on the order. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us which term applies to your chair.
Frequently asked questions
What does Category 3 mean on this power wheelchair?
Ontario lists the Quickie 500 M as an Adult Power Base Type 3 device (WP0001630). Type 3 is for people who need ongoing changes in postural support and modifications to electronics.
Is this a demo chair or the Q500 M model?
Westin configures the Q500 M model for ADP. If a floor chair is available, we can show it. The chair that is funded and delivered is the one written on the order form, not a random floor serial.
Who qualifies for ADP funding?
In general you must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card and a disability that needs a mobility aid for 6 months or longer. An ADP-registered OT or PT has to assess you first. We cannot promise that a specific person will qualify.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For eligible clients, ADP pays 75% of the approved price and the person pays 25%. Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD can open 100% of that approved price. Batteries and items outside the ADP device are extra.
What is the assessment process?
An ADP-registered OT or PT examines the person, helps complete the application, and works with Westin on the configuration. Ontario aims to review complete applications within 8 weeks. Do not order before those steps, or you may have to pay the full cost.
Can I try a Q500 M first?
Call (905) 451-7743 and ask what is on the floor. A trial or demo is a starting point. The funded chair is still built to the prescription.
How should the seat width fit?
The therapist measures seated hip width. SEDEO PRO widths are 16 to 22 inches and depths 14 to 22 inches. Those numbers go on the order form.
What is the weight capacity?
Sunrise lists 300 lbs. There is no HD row on the Q500 M. Stay at or under that rating.
What if the prescription includes power tilt or recline?
Ontario treats power dynamic tilt and/or recline as high technology. Those chairs are bought through the Central Equipment Pool. Your therapist will say if that path applies.
What happens if ADP declines?
Ontario sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. Do not take delivery on the assumption that funding will arrive later.
What is the warranty?
Sunrise prints Lifetime Limited on the current product page. Provincial funding rules can change what is on the invoice. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
Will it fold into a car trunk?
No. It is a full-size mid-wheel rehab base. Canada lists a 24 inch width and a starting weight of 310 to 349 lbs with SEDEO PRO and batteries.
