This page is the Geo-Matt PRT seat cushion only. Span cuts it from premium high-density foam and uses the Geo-Matt segmented top so each cell can follow the person. The 3 inch height gives a lower, firmer base for wheelchair transfers, propulsion, and fit in the wheelchair and cushion system. Span lists a 250 lb weight limit on the 3 inch sizes and a 500 lb limit on the 4 inch bariatric sizes. If a clinician has named the Geo-Matt overlay, the 4 inch Geo-Matt cushion, Geo-Matt Contour, or Gel-T, ask us for that product. Those are separate Span articles.

This cushion is for a wheelchair user who needs a wipeable, non-powered foam seat and whose weight is within Span's rating for the size you pick. Span writes it for more active wheelchair users who need a lower, firmer base than a taller cushion.
Families and therapists usually call us when the person already uses a wheelchair and the seating plan asks for a Geo-Matt PRT, not a mattress pad and not a gel cushion. If the care team has asked for an in-bed Span surface, we already stock PressureGuard Custom Care and Span-Care mattresses and will quote those separately.

Construction and how it works
The Geo-Matt PRT is a non-powered seat cushion. Span cuts the core from high-density foam and segments the top into individually responsive cells. Those cells are the same Geo-Matt geometry used across the family. Ring-of-Air channels help move heat and moisture away from the skin.
The retail cover has an anti-slip top and a non-skid bottom. Span also offers a Soft Skin sleeve and a vinyl and nylon fabric cover for protection from incontinence. The bottom of the anti-slip cover has a sewn sleeve for Span's molded Sling-Fill base. That insert is sold separately. It fills the hammock in a fabric sling seat and gives the cushion a flat, rigid foundation.

Span lists a 3 inch height and a 250 lb weight limit on the standard sizes. Bariatric sizes are 4 inches high with a 500 lb limit. The cushion is non-powered. Span lists an 18-month warranty. Anti-slip covers use the -96 suffix. Fire-barrier versions are ordered by changing that suffix to -29.

Which wheelchairs this cushion fits
Span publishes the Geo-Matt PRT in wheelchair seat widths of 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30 inches. Choose the width that matches the seat sling or seat pan. Span does not name a wheelchair brand or model. Tell us the measured seat width and we will lock the matching code.
Anti-slip covers with the -96 suffix have a sewn sleeve for Span's molded Sling-Fill base. Span writes that the insert fills the gap created by a fabric sling and creates a flat, rigid foundation. The insert is one size and is not included with the cushion. Ask us to add Sling-Fill (2SFB) to the quote when the chair has a hammocked sling seat.

What is the Geo-Matt PRT?

Is this a mattress overlay?
No. The Geo-Matt PRT is a seat cushion for a wheelchair. The Geo-Matt overlay is a separate mattress pad in bed sizes such as 33 by 72 inches. Ask us for the overlay if the clinician named that product.
How is the PRT different from the Geo-Matt 4 inch cushion?
The PRT is high-density foam at 3 inches (4 inches on bariatric sizes) with a 250 or 500 lb rating and many seat widths. The Geo-Matt 4 inch cushion is medium-density foam, 18 by 16 inches only, with a 200 lb rating. They do not share part numbers.
Does this cushion need a pump?
No. The Geo-Matt PRT is non-powered foam. There is no pump to plug in.
What is the weight rating?
Span lists 250 lb on the 3 inch sizes and 500 lb on the 4 inch bariatric sizes. Tell us the person's weight when you order.
What sizes can I get?
Standard: 16 by 16, 18 by 16, 18 by 18, 20 by 16, and 20 by 18 inches, all 3 inches high. Bariatric: 22 by 18, 24 by 18, 26 by 20, 28 by 20, and 30 by 20 inches, all 4 inches high. The default on this page is 18 by 16 inches (PRT1816-96-1).
Which wheelchair does it fit?
Match the cushion width to the wheelchair seat width. Span publishes those eight widths and does not name a chair brand. Measure the seat and we will pick the code.
What is Ring-of-Air?
It is Span's channel cut around the foam cells. Span writes that it helps reduce heat and moisture at the skin.
Can I add a Sling-Fill base?
Yes. The anti-slip cover has a sleeve for Span's molded Sling-Fill insert (2SFB). Span sells the insert separately. Ask us to add it when the wheelchair seat is a fabric sling that hammocks.
What is the warranty?
Span lists an 18-month warranty on the Geo-Matt PRT. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work.
