Description
The Prism Ultra Back is a Future Mobility wheelchair back support with 6 in (15 cm) laterals for mild to moderate postural support. Westin Healthcare fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
The shell is 5052 aluminum with replaceable foam and the same quick-release cane clamps as the rest of the Prism rigid line. Future Mobility built the Ultra for people who need more side support than the Basic, without moving to air bladders or a cube matrix.
Who this back support is for
This wheelchair back support is for a person who needs a rigid foam shell and 6 in laterals, at or under 250 lb (113 kg) on standard widths or 350 lb (159 kg) on bariatric widths. Families usually call us when the person leans or the therapist wants a taller side wall than the Basic.
If you do not need laterals, start with the Prism Basic Back. If the therapist wants air laterals, use the Prism Air Back. If they want rebuildable cubes, use the Prism Truefitt Back.
- 6 in (15 cm) foam laterals
- Mild to moderate postural support, as Future Mobility states it
- Height, depth, and recline on the canes
Laterals, cover, and hardware
Laterals are part of the Ultra shell, not clip-on pads. The cover is a 4-way stretch outer; an infection-control cover is the other factory option. Wash the cover cold on a gentle cycle and air dry. Keep it on the foam.
Hardware fits 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in tubing. The silver flip releases the shell. Angle is 15 degrees forward and 20 degrees back, with a 5 in (127 mm) forward and rear range. Pins take up to 2 in of seat-width difference. Future Mobility prints that the back can be adjusted while the person stays in the chair. A seating therapist should make the first set.

Prism Basic, Ultra, Air, or Truefitt
The Prism Basic Back is the same hardware without laterals. The Prism Ultra Back adds 6 in laterals. The Prism Air Back swaps laterals for air. The Prism Truefitt Back rebuilds with cubes. The Prism Max Truefitt Backrest is the Max series step with raised laterals on cubes.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair back support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, fit the clamps when the hardware allows, and show you the latch before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a back support first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date.
This back support is smaller than a hospital bed. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us about parcel or freight shipping. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the back support needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Future Mobility manufacturer warranty
Future Mobility Healthcare warrants the Prism Ultra Back to the original purchaser for 3 years limited on the back, 90 days on the cover, and 1 year on the hardware, under normal use. Wear, misuse, and unauthorised changes sit outside that term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
