Description
The Prism Truefitt Back is a Future Mobility wheelchair back support with a rebuildable ice-cube foam matrix. Westin Healthcare fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area after a seating check.
Future Mobility designed this back for people whose shape needs a custom foam surface, including kyphosis, lordosis, scoliosis, or a protruding gibbous. A half inch of comfort foam sits on a half inch of support foam over 2 in by 2 in cubes. Optional 3 in poly or 2 in visco cubes mix in. Extra foam covers the aluminum shell so the metal is not exposed.
Who this back support is for
This wheelchair back support is for a person whose therapist wants to carve or swap foam cubes to follow the spine, at or under 250 lb (113 kg) on standard widths or 350 lb (159 kg) on bariatric widths. Families usually call us when a flat foam back leaves a gap at the ribs or the pelvis.
A seating therapist should plan the cube layout. We do not give clinical positioning advice. Ask the seating therapist. If you want air instead of cubes, see the Prism Air Back. If you want 6 in laterals on solid foam, see the Prism Ultra Back. For taller laterals on the same cube idea, see the Prism Max Truefitt Backrest.
- Rebuildable 2 in cubes under comfort and support foam
- Same Prism quick-release hardware as Basic, Ultra, and Air
- Sizes in stock, non-stock, custom, and bariatric bands
Cubes, cover, and hardware
Standard cubes are 2 in polyurethane. Future Mobility also sells 3 in polyurethane and 2 in visco cubes in blocks of 14, not installed. The cover is a 4-way stretch outer; an infection-control cover is the other factory option. Keep the cover on. Wash it cold on a gentle cycle, then air dry.
Hardware fits 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in tubing. The silver flip releases the shell. Angle is 15 degrees forward and 20 degrees back. Pins take up to 2 in of seat-width difference. Height, depth, and recline set on the canes.

Prism Basic, Ultra, Air, or Truefitt
The Prism Basic Back is flat foam. The Prism Ultra Back adds 6 in laterals. The Prism Air Back uses bladders. The Prism Truefitt Back is the cube back. The Prism Max Truefitt Backrest keeps the cubes and raises the laterals.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair back support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, fit the clamps when the hardware allows, and show you the latch before we leave. Cube work stays with the seating therapist.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a back support first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date.
This back support is smaller than a hospital bed. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us about parcel or freight shipping. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the back support needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Future Mobility manufacturer warranty
Future Mobility Healthcare warrants the Prism Truefitt Back to the original purchaser for 3 years limited on the back, 90 days on the cover, and 1 year on the hardware, under normal use. Wear, misuse, and unauthorised changes sit outside that term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What Size Wheelchair Back Do I Need?
The Prism Truefitt Back is ordered to the wheelchair's back-cane width and the therapist's recommended height. Measure the canes. Use Choose Cushion Size for a listed pair, or ask us to order a custom Truefitt size.
How Do I Choose Between Gel, Foam, and Air Cushions?
The Prism Truefitt Back is a rigid foam back, not a seat cushion. Cubes are polyurethane or optional visco. If the therapist wants air on the back instead of cubes, use the Prism Air Back. The seat cushion is a separate choice.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Cushions?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can fund qualifying seating through an authorizer assessment. A specific Truefitt size is not guaranteed. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Can the Foam Cubes Be Changed Later?
The Prism Truefitt Back is built so a seating therapist can mix 2 in poly cubes with optional 3 in poly or 2 in visco cubes. Ask us to order extra cubes if the therapist wants them in the box, not installed.
What Is the Weight Capacity of the Prism Truefitt Back?
The Prism Truefitt Back is rated at 250 lb (113 kg) on standard widths and 350 lb (159 kg) on bariatric widths.
How Much Does the Prism Truefitt Back Weigh?
The Prism Truefitt Back weighs 5.5 lb (2.5 kg) at 18 in by 16 in on Future Mobility's brochure, and 7.2 lb (3.3 kg) in the bariatric example.
What Tubing Does the Hardware Fit?
The Prism Truefitt Back hardware fits 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in (19, 22, and 25 mm) tubing.
Is the Shell Exposed?
Future Mobility prints extra foam on the Prism Truefitt Back so the aluminum shell is not exposed to the person.
What Is the Warranty on the Prism Truefitt Back?
Future Mobility prints 3 years limited on the Prism Truefitt Back shell, 90 days on the cover, and 1 year on the hardware, for the original purchaser.
Is Truefitt the Same as Max Truefitt?
The Prism Truefitt Back is the standard cube back. The Prism Max Truefitt Backrest is the Max series version with raised laterals. They are not the same shell.
