This chair is for a person who fits Pride's 18 by 18 inch sling, stays at or under the 275 lb rating, and wants a folder that stands up in a trunk the way a manual wheelchair does. Families usually call us when a strap-fold chair is still too wide once it is down, or when they want the 18 inch seat instead of the Carbon 27's 17 inch pan.

Range, speed, and batteries
The Pride Jazzy Carbon 27X travels up to 8 miles (12.9 km) per charge on the 24V 10Ah lithium pack. Pride's footnotes say range changes with user weight, terrain, battery charge, battery condition, and tire condition, and that the number can move 10 percent either way. Plan a shorter day than 13 km if the person is near 275 lbs or the route is not flat.
Top speed is up to 3.7 mph (6.0 km/h). The charger is a 3.5-amp off-board unit. Charge the pack with the charger Pride supplies. Pride catalogs a second 10 Ah airline-compliant pack as an add-on.
Portability and transport
Pride's X-frame lets the Carbon 27X fold vertically, nearly flat, with collapsible back handles. Folded size on the brochure is 34 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 30 inches high. A latch locks the frame open or closed. Flip-up carbon fibre arms and adjustable footrests come with the chair. It does not take apart into five pieces.
Pride prints the 10 Ah lithium pack as airline-compliant and still says transport on a commercial aircraft is subject to federal regulations and airline policy. Consult the airline before you fly. Pride does not print a watt-hour figure on this chair's spec table, so we do not invent one.

Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost.
