Drive's current PANTHER22CS sheet rates it at 425 lbs (193 kg), 8 mph (12.9 km/h), and a maximum 25 miles (40 km), with 4 inches (10 cm) of ground clearance.
This is the middle step in Drive's full-size to heavy-duty ladder. Fourteen inch pneumatic tyres, front and rear suspension, and a 22 inch captain seat are how it leaves the Ventura class. It is not a folding travel scooter and it does not come apart for a car trunk. Range and speed change with rider weight, terrain, and battery charge.
Who this scooter is for
This heavy duty mobility scooter is for a person who needs more than a 400 lb midsize scooter, who will ride outdoors on pavement and packed paths, and who wants a 22 inch captain seat. Families usually call us when a Ventura feels low to the ground or when 400 lbs is no longer enough.
If 400 lbs and a scooter that comes apart for the car are enough, start with the Drive Ventura 4 DLX 4-Wheel Scooter. If you need 450 lbs, 10 mph, and 7 inches of clearance, see the Drive Cobra GT4 Heavy Duty 4-Wheel Scooter. The Panther is not a 3-wheel indoor scooter.

Range, speed, and batteries
Drive's current Panther sheet lists a maximum range of 25 miles (40 km) and a top speed of 8 mph (12.9 km/h) on a 12V x 50AH pair and a 5A offboard charger. Those figures are the maximums Drive prints. Rider weight, hills, wind, and battery condition shorten them.
The factory pair is Group 22, 50AH. Use Batteries if you want a Group 24 75AH or Group 27 100AH pair. Charge after every trip and leave the charger on until it shows a full charge. Only sealed lead acid AGM or gel-cell batteries belong in a Drive scooter of this class.
Portability and transport
The Drive Panther does not fold and Drive does not print a heaviest-piece weight on the current sheet. The assembled scooter is 264 lbs (120 kg), 56 inches (142 cm) long, and 26 inches (66 cm) wide. This is a delivered scooter, not a car-trunk scooter.

Ventura, Panther, or Cobra: which Drive scooter fits
The Panther is the heavy duty mobility scooter in the middle of this Drive ladder. The Ventura 4 DLX is the 400 lb full-size scooter that still comes apart for a car. The Ventura 3 DLX is the same class with a 53 inch indoor turn. The Cobra GT4 is the 450 lb, 10 mph, 35 mile outdoor scooter with 7 inches of clearance and an 82 inch turn. Stay on the Panther if you want outdoor pneumatic tyres without the Cobra's length and turning circle.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Drive Panther should stay out of rain, standing water, snow, ice, and salt when you can. Drive's Ventura family manual, which covers the same sealed battery type, says to dry a wet scooter and let it sit 8 to 12 hours, then check the throttle and brakes before you ride again. The Panther sheet does not rate it as a rain scooter.
Do mobility scooters work in winter?
