Description
The Lunar Basic Low Support backrest is Future Mobility's low-height foam wheelchair back support for aggressive lateral support in a short shell. Westin Healthcare fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area after a seating check on the chair.
This is the Lunar Basic low-back height (10 to 12 in). It is not the mid or full Lunar Basic. Future Mobility prints that a headrest is not available on the Low Support style.
Who this back support is for
The Lunar Basic Low Support backrest is for a person whose seating therapist wants a short Lunar shell with no lateral or basic lateral, when a full-height shell would block motion. Future Mobility designed Lunar Basic for users who need aggressive lateral support and complex positioning.
A seating therapist should confirm that a low shell is the right height. Westin does not give clinical positioning advice. If you have questions about posture or transfers, ask the therapist who assessed you, or call us and we will book that conversation.
Hardware, laterals, and fit
The shell is lightweight aluminum with replaceable foam. Pins take up to a 2 in (5 cm) seat-width difference. Height, depth, and recline angle adjust on the hardware. Lower latch levers release the back. Hardware fits 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in canes.
Use Model Choice for No Lateral or Basic Lateral. Ultra lateral is not on the factory Low grid. Optional add-on pads still include fixed, height-adjustable, fixed-offset, and adjustable swing-away styles on the Lunar family card.
- Low-back heights 10 and 12 in (25 and 30 cm)
- Widths 14, 16, 18, and 20 in (36 to 51 cm) as sold (20 in is 20x12 only)
- Cover colours: black, navy blue, burgundy, royal blue, dark green

Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and fits this back support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, mount it on the wheelchair canes, and show you the quick-release latches before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a wheelchair back support first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
If the back support is going outside the GTA, ask us for a shipping quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the back support needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Future Mobility manufacturer warranty
Future Mobility prints 3 years limited on the Lunar Basic back, 90 days on the cover, and 1 year on the hardware, for the original purchaser. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What Size Wheelchair Backrest Do I Need?
A wheelchair back support is ordered by seat width and back height, not by clothing size. Measure the wheelchair seat width and how high the shell should sit on the back canes, then use Choose Cushion Size for the matching width by height. A seating therapist should confirm the size before you order.
What Is A Wheelchair Back Support?
A wheelchair back support mounts to the rear canes and holds the trunk. The Lunar Basic Low Support backrest is a short aluminum shell with foam and no or basic laterals.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Cushions?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a wheelchair cushion or back support after an ADP-registered therapist assessment, when the seating is required with an eligible mobility device. Eligibility depends on the person and the device. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
What Is The Weight Capacity Of The Lunar Basic Low Support?
The Lunar Basic Low Support backrest is rated at 250 lb (113 kg) on Future Mobility's current brochure.
Can I Add A Headrest To The Low Support?
Future Mobility prints that a headrest is not available with the Lunar Basic Low Support style. If a headrest is required, look at Mid or Full Support with the therapist.
What Tubing Does The Lunar Basic Fit?
The Lunar Basic Low Support backrest hardware fits 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in wheelchair canes on the Future Mobility card.
Is Ultra Lateral Available On Low Support?
The Lunar Basic Low Support factory grid is No Lateral or Basic Lateral only. Ultra lateral is on Mid and Full Support.
Can I Remove The Lunar Basic For Transport?
The Lunar Basic Low Support backrest uses quick-release lower latch levers so the shell can come off the cane clamps.
What Comes With The Lunar Basic Low Support?
The Lunar Basic Low Support backrest is ordered as the aluminum shell, foam, cover, and cane-clamp hardware for the size and lateral style you pick.
