Description

The Pride Jazzy Air 2 is a full-size mid-wheel power chair whose seat elevates 12 inches in 11 seconds and still drives at up to 4 mph (6.4 km/h) when raised. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Pride rates the chair at 300 lbs with a 24.25 inch turning radius. Standard batteries are a pair of 12-volt U-1 packs. Use Batteries (Options) if you want the 40 Ah pair. Both charge with a 5-amp off-board charger.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who wants to sit at table height and still drive, fits Pride's 16, 18, or 20 inch seat, and is within the 300 lb rating. Families usually call us when a standard mid-wheel seat sits too low for a table or a counter, or when they want face-to-face height without a separate lift.

If you want a mid-wheel Jazzy without the elevator, start with the Pride Jazzy EVO 613 or the Pride Jazzy EVO 614. The Air 2 is not a folding travel chair.

  • 12 inch seat elevation in 11 seconds
  • Drives at up to 4 mph raised or lowered
  • Mid-Wheel 6 layout with a 24.25 inch turning radius

Design and build

Pride builds the Air 2 on Mid-Wheel 6: 10 inch solid drive wheels with 6 inch solid casters front and rear. Two motors drive the chair. Active-Trac suspension is how Pride describes the ride indoors and outdoors, including while the seat is up. Single-sided caster forks are the manufacturer description for the front end.

The seat is a reclining high-back or solid seat pan sport seat with 2 inches of depth adjustment, plus armrests that change angle, height, and depth, and a headrest that changes angle and height. The person raises and lowers the seat with the Air switch or the VR2 joystick. An integrated foot platform has a rubber insert and 2 inches of adjustment. LED floor lights sit at the front. There is an under-seat front storage compartment.

The chair does not fold. Pride lists 23.25 inches wide and 42 inches long with the footplate (33.21 inches without). Plan on a van, a lift, or an accessible vehicle if it has to travel.

Pride Jazzy Air 2 specifications

These figures are for the Jazzy Air 2 (Pride models JAIR2 and JAIR2-40) sold here. The specification tab holds the stored values. Pride's current spec sheet lists a 300 lb capacity, up to 4 mph elevated and not, a 24.25 inch turning radius, 1 inch ground clearance at the motor, 10 inch drive wheels, 6 inch casters, and seat-to-floor from 21.25 to 33 inches.

Range on that spec sheet is up to 15 miles (24.1 km) at 300 lbs and up to 16.6 miles (26.7 km) at 220 lbs. Standard batteries are two 12-volt U-1 packs. The 40 Ah pair is the other Batteries (Options) choice. The charger is 5 amp off-board. Electronics are a 40-amp PG VR2. The spec sheet prints 202 lbs for the complete assembly without batteries.

Do not mix these numbers with the EVO 613 or EVO 614. Those chairs do not elevate. Do not mix them with the Jazzy Air MED, which is a different Pride model.

Warranty for a Canadian purchaser follows Pride's current insert and the Canada Air 2 brochure: 5-year limited on the frame, 2-year limited on electronics and drive motors, and 13-month limited on batteries.

Colour, seat, battery, and accessory options

Use Color (Options) to set the shroud: Ruby Red, Citrine Yellow, Black Pearl, Pearl White, Silver, Tanzanite, Black Onyx, Pink Topaz, Garnet Red, or Sapphire Blue.

Seat Size

  • 16 inch width by 16 inch depth
  • 18 inch width by 18 inch depth
  • 20 inch width by 20 inch depth

Pride's depth ranges on those widths are 16-18, 18-20, and 20-22 inches. Use Batteries (Options) for U1 batteries or 40 Ah AGM. Use Accessories for a rear basket, oxygen holder, walker holder, or cane/crutch holder. Ask us which parts you need before you tick every line.

Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this power chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the joystick, the Air switch, and the charger before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This power chair is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that sold it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Pride manufacturer warranty

Pride's current standard-power insert for a Canadian purchaser is 5-year limited on the frame, 2-year limited on electronics and drive motors, and 13-month limited on batteries. The Pride Canada Air 2 brochure prints the same split. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

What range does the Air 2 have?

Pride's current spec sheet lists up to 15 miles (24.1 km) at 300 lbs and up to 16.6 miles (26.7 km) at 220 lbs. Range changes with rider weight, terrain, battery type, and battery condition. Use Batteries (Options) if you want the 40 Ah pack.

What batteries and charger does it use?

Standard is two 12-volt U-1 batteries. The other factory pack is 40 Ah. The charger is 5 amp off-board. Charge the packs with that charger.

What is the indoor turning radius?

Pride lists 24.25 inches. Overall width is 23.25 inches. Measure the narrowest doorway before you buy. The seat elevator does not replace that mid-wheel turn figure.

What seat sizes can I order?

Use Seat Size for 16, 18, or 20 inch. Pride's matching depths are 16-18, 18-20, and 20-22 inches, with 2 inches of depth adjustment on the chair. Measure seated hip width and leave a little room on each side.

How high does the seat rise?

Pride lists 12 inches of elevation in 11 seconds. Seat-to-floor on the spec sheet runs from 21.25 to 33 inches. The chair still drives at up to 4 mph when the seat is up.

Who drives the Air 2?

The person in the chair, using the joystick. The Air switch or the VR2 joystick raises and lowers the seat. A companion does not push this chair the way they would push a transport chair. Lower the seat and power down before sitting or standing.

Will it fold into a car trunk?

No. This is a full-size elevating mid-wheel base. Pride lists 23.25 inches wide and 42 inches long with the footplate. Moving it usually means a van, a lift, or an accessible vehicle.

What is the weight capacity?

Pride lists 300 lbs. Stay at or under that rating in both the lowered and elevated positions.

What is the warranty?

For a Canadian purchaser Pride's current insert is 5-year limited on the frame, 2-year limited on electronics and drive motors, and 13-month limited on batteries. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

Can funding help with this chair in Ontario?

Some Ontario routes can help with mobility equipment. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.

Who services the chair after delivery?

Westin Healthcare's service and repairs team. Call the shop that set it up. We come to the home or workplace.

Can I rent a power chair before I buy?

Westin Healthcare rents some mobility equipment. Ask us whether a power chair can go out as a rental for your dates. Purchased chairs are delivered on a scheduled date.
