Description
The Invacare Matrx Elite TR is Invacare and Motion Concepts' tilt and recline wheelchair back support with SuperSoft foam, full shoulder support, and a 300 lb (136 kg) rating on standard sizes. Westin Healthcare sells it and fits it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the Elite TR. It is not the standard Elite and it is not the Elite HD.
Motion Concepts' current Canadian form lists standard Elite TR widths 15-20 in (38-51 cm) and heights 14, 16, 18, and 20 in (36-51 cm). Use Back Width and Back Height to pick those standard sizes. The 22 in width on some orders is the heavy-duty TR, a different Motion Concepts model.
Who this back support is for
This wheelchair back support is for a person on a manual or power tilt, or tilt and recline, chair who stays at or under 300 lb on standard sizes and wants SuperSoft foam and a shell that keeps support across the shoulders when the chair changes angle.
If you want the lighter 3 in Elite without the TR shoulder shell, see the Matrx Elite. If the need is a configurable contour for asymmetry, see the Matrx MAC Hug.
- SuperSoft foam over firm HR foam
- Shell without a scapular cutout, full shoulder support
- Easy Set hardware and a headrest adapter in the box
Fit, contour, and hardware
The Invacare Matrx Elite TR contour is 3 in (76 mm). Motion Concepts mounting pins let a standard TR sit on a chair 1 in narrower or 1 in wider than the back. Easy Set fits 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in canes. Depth adjustment is 4 in. Angle is a 40 degree range (+/- 20 degrees).
Every standard Elite TR on the current Canadian form ships pre-drilled for a headrest and includes the adapter plate. Fixed, offset, and swing-away laterals are separate Motion Concepts options.
Foam, cover, and care
Motion Concepts builds the Invacare Matrx Elite TR with an extra SuperSoft HR layer over firm HR foam and a water-resistant, breathable Meshtex cover. Care follows the Elite manual: wipe light soil with 0.1% chlorine, rinse, and dry. For a badly soiled cover, remove the foam and machine-wash the cover at 80 C (176 F). Do not machine-wash the foam.
Invacare Matrx Elite TR specifications
These figures are for standard PBE TR sizes on Motion Concepts' Elite TR sheet and the current Canadian order form. The specification tab holds the stored values. HD TR sizes (21-24 in, 500 lb) are not this standard TR.
Standard capacity 300 lb (136 kg). Shell weight 3.5 lb (1.6 kg) and up. Heights 14, 16, 18, and 20 in. Widths 15-20 in. Warranty 2 years on materials and workmanship for the original purchaser, excluding punctures, tears, burns, and the removable cover.
Width and height
Use Back Width to pick 15-20 in and Back Height to pick 14, 16, 18, or 20 in. Ask us before you pick 22 in. That width is the Elite TR heavy-duty range, not the standard TR.
Elite, Elite TR, or MAC
Elite TR is the SuperSoft tilt and recline Elite. The Matrx Elite is the lighter 3 in PBE for everyday chairs. The Matrx E2 is the newer Ripple Foam series. The Matrx MAC Hug is the adjustable-contour back Motion Concepts recommends when mild asymmetry is the issue.
Foam back support, gel cushions, and air cushions
The Invacare Matrx Elite TR is a foam wheelchair back support. A gel or air seat cushion is a different product. See the JAY Ion or the ROHO High Profile when the seating therapist is choosing the seat, not the back.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the back support needs work, you call the shop that fitted it, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Invacare Matrx manufacturer warranty
Invacare and Motion Concepts warrant the original purchaser 2 years on materials and workmanship. The term does not cover punctures, tears, burns, or the removable cover. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Elite TR Different From the Matrx Elite Back?
Yes. The Invacare Matrx Elite TR adds SuperSoft foam and a shoulder-height shell for tilt and recline. The standard Elite is the lighter 3 in PBE without that TR foam stack.
What Size Wheelchair Cushion Do I Need?
Size the seat cushion to the sling. Size the Invacare Matrx Elite TR to the trunk. Use Back Width and Back Height for 15-20 in by 14-20 in. We confirm both with you or the seating therapist.
How Do I Choose Between Gel, Foam, and Air Cushions?
The Invacare Matrx Elite TR is a foam back, not a seat cushion. Gel and air seats such as the JAY Ion and the ROHO High Profile are chosen separately with the seating therapist.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Cushions?
Some Ontario routes can help with a wheelchair cushion or back support when an assessment supports it. Eligibility depends on the person's situation. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Will the Elite TR Work on a Tilt Chair?
Motion Concepts designed the Invacare Matrx Elite TR for manual or power tilt-only and tilt/recline applications. The seating therapist still confirms the chair, the hardware, and the headrest.
What Is the Weight Capacity of the Elite TR?
Standard Invacare Matrx Elite TR sizes are rated at 300 lb (136 kg). Heavy-duty TR sizes (21-24 in) are a different model at 500 lb.
How Much Does the Elite TR Weigh?
Motion Concepts prints the standard Invacare Matrx Elite TR at 3.5 lb (1.6 kg) and up. Heavy-duty TR starts at 8.5 lb.
What Cane Diameter Does the Elite TR Fit?
The Invacare Matrx Elite TR Easy Set hardware fits 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in back canes.
Does the Elite TR Include a Headrest Adapter?
Yes. Motion Concepts ships the Invacare Matrx Elite TR pre-drilled for a headrest and includes the adapter plate. The headrest pad and hardware are separate.
What Is the Elite TR Warranty?
Invacare and Motion Concepts warrant the Invacare Matrx Elite TR for 2 years on materials and workmanship for the original purchaser. Punctures, tears, burns, and the removable cover are excluded.
