The Interstate HSL1079 battery is a 12V 9Ah (20-hour) AGM sealed lead-acid cell with F2 .250 in Faston terminals. Interstate lists it in the High Rate family for UPS and standby loads that need a fast hit of current. Westin Healthcare sells the single cell in Brampton and can match the F2 tabs across the Greater Toronto Area.
Who this battery is for
The Interstate HSL1079 sits in the 5.94 x 2.56 x 3.66 in (151 x 65 x 93 mm) case, the same footprint as SLA1075 and FAS1075, but the tabs are F2 and the rating is 9Ah. Interstate's High Rate table also prints 34 watts per cell at 15 minutes. Handicare, Savaria, and Access do not print HSL1079 or 9Ah. Match the 9Ah stamp and the F2 tabs on the old cell.

Interstate's High Rate table prints HSL1079 as 12V 9Ah, 34W at 15 minutes per cell, 5.94 in long, 2.56 in wide, 3.66 in high, 3.94 in including the terminal, F2. Chemistry is AGM VRLA. Interstate describes High Rate plates as built for critical backup, not as a mobility deep-cycle line. The page sells one cell. A 24V chair would need two.
SLA, AGM, gel, and the size ladder
HSL1079 is AGM high-rate, not gel. The F1 twins in this case are the 8Ah SLA1075 and the 7Ah FAS1075. Travel-scooter 12Ah cells are wider. Group 24 AGM is the MK 8A24.

What is the difference between F1 and F2 terminals?
F1 is .187 in. F2 is .250 in. The Interstate HSL1079 is F2. SLA1075 and FAS1075 in this case are F1. The tabs are not interchangeable.
Does this fit a Handicare or Savaria stairlift?
Handicare and Savaria consumer pages do not print HSL1079 or 9Ah. Match the old cell or send a photo. Do not order from the chair name alone.
Do I need two batteries?
A 24V chair uses two 12V batteries in series. The Interstate HSL1079 is sold as one cell. Replace both cells together if the chair already uses this size.
How long do these batteries last?
Interstate does not print a year life for HSL1079 in chair service. Replace the pair when runtime falls off after a full charge.
Can I replace the batteries myself?
Follow the device manual. Many stairlifts need a technician. Westin can change a matching pair on a visit. Do not short the F2 tabs.
Is HSL1079 the same as SLA1075?
No. HSL1079 is 9Ah F2 high-rate. SLA1075 is 8Ah F1 general purpose. Same footprint, different tab and rating.
