The Drive Gravity 9 is Drive Medical's premium long-term-care foam mattress, sold as the Gravity 9 Premium Long Term Care Pressure Redistribution Mattress. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it on the bed for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the top Gravity foam surface: a full open-cell memory-foam top, a sloped channel-cut heel, and a 450 lb Drive rating, in 36-, 39-, and 42-inch widths.

This is a foam mattress, not an air system. There is no pump and no motor. Drive lists the family at 6 inches thick. The cover is a removable multi-stretch polyurethane surface. Drive's current Gravity 9 sheet lists a 15-year limited foam warranty and a 3-year cover warranty.

Who this mattress is for

This mattress is for a person who needs more immersion than Gravity 7 or Gravity 8, still without a pump. The memory-foam top is the difference. Families usually pick it as the top foam choice on a Drive Delta 1000 or a Drive Delta 15235, or they pick the 42-inch SKU for a Drive 15300LW 42-inch bariatric bed.

Choose Gravity 9 when the therapist has asked for a memory-foam pressure-redistribution surface. If a die-cut foam top is enough, the Gravity 8 is the step down. Construction and how it works

Gravity 9 is Drive's premium Gravity foam mattress. The full top layer is open-cell, visco-elastic memory foam. Drive's words are that this layer "improves immersion and pressure redistribution." The heel section is sloped, with a channel-cut foam centre. High-density foam perimeters stiffen the edges. The bottom layer has full-length horizontal articulation cuts so the foam can bend when the bed moves.

The cover is removable multi-stretch polyurethane. Drive lists it as fluid resistant, low shear, and vapor permeable. Drive's Gravity series manual says to wipe the cover, not to launder it, and not to open the zipper while you clean. Raised rails, when you pick 15977, are an elevated foam perimeter, not metal bed rails.

Official widths on this picker are 36, 39, and 42 inches. Official lengths are 76, 80, and 84 inches, depending on the SKU.

Drive's current Gravity 9 sheet lists a 15-year limited foam warranty and a 3-year cover warranty for the original purchaser. That sheet does not print a shorter foam term for 42-inch widths. The mattress meets flammability standards CFR 1632 and CFR 1633. Replacement covers include 15970C, 15977C, 15984C, and 15996C.

Drive manufacturer warranty

Drive's current Gravity 9 spec sheet covers the original purchaser with a 15-year limited foam warranty and a 3-year cover warranty. Drive's Gravity series manual also asks for a wipe-clean cover, a check every three months, and a compression test: foam compressed beyond 25 percent is a warranty replacement condition. How do I clean the Gravity 9 cover?

Drive's Gravity series manual says to wipe the top and bottom covers with warm water and a mild detergent, or with a recommended disinfectant. For the stretch top, Drive recommends a quaternary cleaner. Do not open the zipper while you clean. Do not launder or autoclave the cover.

What is the weight rating on Gravity 9?
