Description

The Drive Gravity 7 is Drive Medical's most popular long-term-care foam mattress, sold as the Gravity 7 Long Term Care Pressure Redistribution Mattress. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it on the bed for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the starting Gravity foam surface on our hospital-bed pages: three latex-free foam layers, a die-cut top, and a visco foam heel section, in 36-inch widths that match a standard homecare deck.

This is a foam mattress, not an air system. There is no pump and no motor. Drive rates the family at 350 lbs and 6 inches thick. The cover is a removable stretch surface with a fluid-resistant nylon top and a waterproof vinyl bottom. Drive's current Gravity 7 sheet lists a 7-year limited foam warranty and a 3-year cover warranty.

Who this mattress is for

This mattress is for a person who needs a therapeutic foam surface on a 36-inch hospital bed at home or in long-term care, and who does not need a powered air system. Families usually add it when they buy a Drive Delta 1000, a Drive Delta 15235 hi-low, or a Drive SoLite Pro, or when they are replacing a basic innerspring on a deck that is already in the house.

Choose Gravity 7 when the therapist has asked for a pressure-redistribution foam mattress with a dedicated heel section and a wipe-clean cover. If the person needs a sloped, channel-cut heel and a higher weight rating, step up to the Gravity 8. If they need a full memory-foam top and a 450 lb rating, see the Gravity 9. If they need a wider deck, this 36-inch family is the wrong width.

  • Home care on a 36-inch full-electric or hi-low hospital bed
  • Long-term care when a 6-inch foam replacement is what the care plan calls for
  • Anyone who wants a quiet foam surface with no pump to plug in

Construction and how it works

Gravity 7 is a three-layer foam mattress. The full-width top layer is die-cut so the foam can give under the shoulders, seat, and heels instead of sitting as one hard slab. The bottom layer has full-length horizontal articulation cuts so the foam can bend when the bed head or foot moves. High-density foam perimeters stiffen the edges for transfers.

The heel section is visco foam. Drive's words are that this section "offloads pressure from vulnerable heels." That is a construction claim, not a promise that a wound will heal. The cover stretches, resists fluid, and is vapor permeable so moisture is less likely to sit against the skin. It zips off. Drive's Gravity series manual says to wipe the cover, not to launder it or put it through an autoclave, and not to open the zipper while you clean.

Raised side rails, when you pick them, are an elevated foam perimeter with a transfer cut-out. They are not metal bed rails. Metal rails are a separate choice on the bed page.

Gravity 7 specifications

These figures are for the Drive Gravity 7 family we sell. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current sheet lists a 350 lb weight capacity, a 6-inch height, and three foam layers. Official lengths are 76, 80, and 84 inches. Official width is 36 inches.

Drive's current Gravity 7 sheet lists a 7-year limited foam warranty and a 3-year cover warranty for the original purchaser. The mattress meets flammability standards CFR 1632 and CFR 1633. Replacement covers are Drive parts 15770C, 15777C, 15784C, 15785C, 15876C, and 15877C, matched to the size you order.

Choose Mattress Size and Choose Side Raised Rails

Use the selectors to set length and whether the foam has an elevated perimeter. The selector labels are Choose Mattress Size and Choose Side Rasied Rails (that is the picker name as it appears).

Choose Mattress Size

The picker lists three 36-inch widths:

  • 36" (W) x 76" (L) x 6" (H), Drive SKU 15876
  • 36" (W) x 80" (L) x 6" (H), Drive SKU 15770, the usual match for an 80-inch hospital-bed deck
  • 36" (W) x 84" (L) x 6" (H), Drive SKU 15784

Match the mattress length to the sleep deck. An 80-inch Delta or SoLite deck takes 15770. Use 15876 only on a 76-inch deck. Use 15784 when the bed has been extended to 84 inches.

Choose Side Raised Rails

Pick YES or NO. YES is Drive's elevated foam perimeter. Official raised-rail SKUs are 15877 (76"), 15777 (80"), and 15785 (84"). They are not metal side rails and they do not replace a half rail or a full rail on the bed frame.

Funding help for a therapeutic mattress in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds or mattresses, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), hardship funding programs, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this mattress across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, place it on the bed, and check the fit before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mattress first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased mattresses are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Hospital mattresses are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the mattress is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Which Westin beds this mattress fits

Gravity 7 in 36 x 80 is the foam that belongs on a standard Drive homecare deck. It is the included Gravity choice on the Drive SoLite Pro and a Choose Mattress option on the Drive Delta 1000 and the Drive Delta 15235. A 36 x 84 Gravity 7 fits those same frames after a deck extension. It does not fit a 42-, 48-, or 54-inch bariatric bed.

Service and warranty

When something on the mattress needs work, you call the shop that delivered it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Drive manufacturer warranty

Drive's current Gravity 7 spec sheet covers the original purchaser with a 7-year limited foam warranty and a 3-year cover warranty. Drive's Gravity series manual also asks for a wipe-clean cover, a check every three months, and a compression test: foam compressed beyond 25 percent is a warranty replacement condition. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions

How is Gravity 7 different from an alternating-pressure mattress?

Gravity 7 is foam. The surface stays still. An alternating-pressure mattress uses a pump to move air through cells on a cycle. There is no pump, no cycle, and no motor noise on Gravity 7. If a therapist has asked for a powered air surface, look at a Med-Aire system instead of Gravity 7.

How do I clean the Gravity 7 cover?

Drive's Gravity series manual says to wipe the top and bottom covers with warm water and a mild detergent, or with a recommended disinfectant. For the stretch top, Drive recommends a quaternary cleaner. Do not open the zipper while you clean. Do not launder or autoclave the cover. Let it air dry out of direct sun.

What is the weight rating on Gravity 7?

Drive lists 350 lbs for every Gravity 7 SKU we sell. If the person is near that limit, or you need a wider deck, ask us about a bariatric foam surface instead of stretching this mattress.

What size Gravity 7 fits a standard hospital bed?

Most Drive homecare beds we sell have a 36 x 80 sleep deck, which takes SKU 15770. Use 15876 on a 76-inch deck and 15784 on an 84-inch deck. Measure the deck before you pick Choose Mattress Size.

Does Gravity 7 have a pump or make noise?

No. It is a foam mattress. There is nothing to plug in and nothing to cycle.

What is the warranty on the Gravity 7 mattress?

Drive's current Gravity 7 sheet lists a 7-year limited foam warranty and a 3-year cover warranty for the original purchaser. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.

Can funding help pay for this mattress in Ontario?

Several Ontario funding routes can help with a therapeutic support surface. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will point you to the right route before anyone starts paperwork. The funding page is the starting point.

Can I rent a mattress like this before I buy?

Westin Healthcare rents hospital beds with a therapeutic medical mattress included. See current packages on the hospital bed rentals page. If you later buy a Gravity 7, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program so we can apply the program rules.

What is included with the Gravity 7?

You get the Drive Gravity 7 foam mattress in the size you pick under Choose Mattress Size, with or without the elevated foam perimeter from Choose Side Raised Rails. Metal bed rails, a pump, and the bed frame are sold on the bed pages, not in this carton.

Does Gravity 7 come in 39-inch or 42-inch widths?

Drive's current Gravity 7 sheet lists 36-inch widths only. If you need 39 or 42 inches, look at the Gravity 9 or a Drive bariatric foam mattress instead of forcing this SKU.

Are the raised rails the same as hospital bed side rails?

No. Raised rails on this picker are an elevated foam perimeter. Metal half rails or full rails bolt to the bed frame and are chosen on the bed page.
