Description

The Golden Eagle scooter is Golden's 4-wheel outdoor scooter for a 500 lb (227 kg) rider who wants an 8 mph (12.9 km/h) heavy duty 4-wheel scooter. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets the GR595 up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Golden rates it at 500 lbs (227 kg), 8 mph (12.9 km/h), and 23 miles (37.0 km) at 200 lbs on standard NF22 batteries, or 32 miles (51.5 km) on optional 75 AH batteries. Ground clearance is 5 inches (12.7 cm). The turning radius is 69 inches (175 cm). Assembled weight is 300 lbs (136 kg).

Who this scooter is for

This scooter is for a person who needs a heavy duty 4-wheel scooter for outdoor routes, stays at or under 500 lbs, and wants a captain seat with a lockable storage box. Families usually call us when a Companion HD still feels light for the driveway, or when they want 13 inch pneumatic tires and a 140 amp controller without stepping up to the All Terrain's 11 mph chassis.

If you want 11 mph, turf-tread tires, and a 76 inch turn, see the Eagle All Terrain. If you want a 500 lb 4-wheel that Westin can quote without the Eagle's 300 lb assembled weight, see the Avenger. The Eagle is not a travel scooter and does not come apart for a car trunk.

  • 500 lb (227 kg) rating with a 140 amp controller
  • 23 miles (37.0 km) on NF22, 32 miles (51.5 km) on optional 75 AH
  • 5 inch (12.7 cm) ground clearance and 13 inch pneumatic tires

Range, speed, and batteries

Golden's current Eagle sell sheet rates the GR595 at 23 miles (37.0 km) at 200 lbs (91 kg) on two NF22 batteries and 32 miles (51.5 km) on optional 75 AH batteries. Top speed is 8 mph (12.9 km/h). Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten those figures. The charger is off-board. Golden asks for 6 to 8 hours after daily use and 12 hours on a new pair.

Each NF22 battery weighs 37 lbs (16.8 kg). Each 75 AH battery weighs 52 lbs (23.6 kg). A 140 amp controller and rear-wheel drive move the scooter. Freewheel mode lets a helper push it. USB on the tiller charges a phone. The LCD console shows speed, odometer, fault codes, and battery life.

Portability and transport

The Golden Eagle is a full outdoor scooter, not a portable travel scooter. Assembled weight is 300 lbs (136 kg). The base is 239 lbs (108 kg). The captain seat is 49.5 lbs (22.5 kg). Length is 56.5 inches (144 cm). Width is 27 inches (69 cm). It does not fold. Golden does not print a car-trunk disassembly sequence.

Westin delivers and sets the GR595 up in the home or garage. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Golden does not print an airline claim. The NF22 and 75 AH packs are sealed lead-acid, not lithium carry-on packs. The owner manual says not to operate or store the scooter in rain, snow, mist, or below-freezing temperatures.

Golden Eagle specifications

These figures are for the GR595 as printed on Golden Canada's Eagle sell sheet and the GR-595 owner manual. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Ground clearance 5 inches (12.7 cm) to the deck, 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) at the transaxle. Length 56.5 inches (144 cm). Width 27 inches (69 cm). Tires 13 inch pneumatic, 35 psi. Seat 20 inches wide by 18 inches deep, captain high-back. Maximum recommended incline 7.5 degrees. Colour

Golden offers Red, Stone Grey, and Desert Tan shrouds on the current Canada Eagle. Ask us which colour you want on the order.

Eagle or Eagle All Terrain: which outdoor scooter fits

The Eagle is the 8 mph outdoor step: 69 inch turn, 140 amp controller, 23 or 32 mile range, 56.5 inch body. The Eagle All Terrain is the 11 mph, 76 inch turn, 200 amp sibling with 34 miles on 75 AH and turf-tread tires. The Avenger is the 7 mph 4-wheel heavy duty scooter that ships without batteries. Pick the Eagle for the shorter outdoor body and the NF22 starting pack. Pick the All Terrain for rough ground and 11 mph.

Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this scooter across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, place it, and show you the tiller, charger, lighting, and storage box before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a Golden Eagle first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased scooters are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

This scooter is oversized. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Golden manufacturer warranty

Golden's printed Eagle terms are 5 years on the frame, 2 years on the drive train, 2 years on electronics, and 1 year on the batteries. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions

How far can a mobility scooter go?

The Golden Eagle scooter travels up to 23 miles (37.0 km) at 200 lbs (91 kg) on two NF22 batteries and 32 miles (51.5 km) on optional 75 AH batteries.

How long does a mobility scooter take to charge?

The Golden Eagle uses an off-board charger. Golden asks for 6 to 8 hours after daily use and 12 hours on a new pair of batteries.

Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?

The Golden Eagle uses NF22 or 75 AH sealed lead-acid batteries. Golden does not call this an airline scooter. It is not a folding travel scooter.

Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?

The Golden Eagle owner manual says not to operate or store the scooter where it will be exposed to rain, snow, mist, or below-freezing temperatures. It is not an all-weather scooter.

Does ADP cover scooters?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a power scooter when a long-term need is confirmed through an ADP-registered therapist and an ADP-registered vendor. Westin Healthcare walks that route with you. A scooter bought before those steps is not reimbursed.

What is the difference between a 3-wheel and a 4-wheel scooter?

The Golden Eagle is a 4-wheel outdoor scooter with a 69 inch (175 cm) turning radius. A 3-wheel Golden such as the Companion HD turns in 51 inches and uses solid tires. Four wheels here are for outdoor stability.

What is the difference between the Golden Eagle and the Eagle All Terrain?

The Golden Eagle GR595 is the 8 mph, 69 inch turn, 140 amp outdoor scooter with 23 or 32 mile range. The Eagle All Terrain GR596 is the 11 mph, 76 inch turn, 200 amp scooter with 34 miles on 75 AH and turf-tread tires. They are separate Golden models.

How much weight can the Golden Eagle hold?

The Golden Eagle is rated at 500 lbs (227 kg). Stay at or under that figure.

What is the warranty?

The Golden Eagle carries 5 years on the frame, 2 years on the drive train and electronics, and 1 year on the batteries. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
